of print position, which can affect the print speed.
Set to Off to use the settings under Media Tuning.
Default: On
Allow XOR Mode
Purpose: Allows the printer to use the Pixel mode XOR.
Default: On
14 DSim User’s Guide
Alternate Codes
Purpose: Sets the printer to use different hexadecimal values
for control characters. Use the alternate codes if your
host cannot produce the standard control characters.
For example, SOH uses 0x5E, and STX uses 0x7E.
Default: Off
Calibrate
Purpose: Measures the label length and calibrates the sensors.
Code 128 Alphanumeric
Purpose: For Code 128 bar codes containing both numeric
and alphabetical characters, magnifies the lowest
narrow bar width if the printer resolution is different
than your old Datamax printer. For example, if
simulating an 8 dots/mm Datamax printer on a
12 dots/mm EasyCoder printer, there will be a
noticeable difference when printing a bar code where
the narrow bars are one dot wide.
Usually, the DSim program selects the bar code
magnification that is smaller or equal to the desired
size, but you may want a larger sized bar code. In
most cases, a value of 1 should be sufficient. You can
adjust the value from 0 to 9.
Default: 0 (off)
Code 128 Numeric
Purpose: For Code 128 bar codes containing only numeric
characters, magnifies the lowest narrow bar width if
the printer resolution is different than your old
Datamax printer. For example, if simulating an
8 dots/mm Datamax printer on a 12 dots/mm
EasyCoder printer, there will be a noticeable
difference when printing a bar code where the
narrow bars are one dot wide.
DSim User’s Guide 15
Code 128 Numeric (continued)
Usually the DSim program selects the bar code
magnification that is smaller or equal to the desired
size, but you may want a larger sized bar code. In
most cases, a value of 1 should be sufficient. You can
adjust the value from 0 to 9.
Default: 0 (off)
Column Offset
Purpose: Positions the printout distance in the X direction in
+/- 0 to 999 dots.
Default: 0 dots
Cutter
Purpose: Turns the cutter on or off.
Default: Off
Factory Defaults
Purpose: Sets all of the DSim program values back to their
original settings.
Form Stop Position
Purpose: Sets the stop position for printing a label. You can
adjust the value from 0 to 999 units (units in
1/10 mm). The value depends on the Print mode.
Values: 425 units for Tear Off mode
395 units for Peel Off mode
282 units for Rewind mode
650 units for Cutter mode
16 DSim User’s Guide
Hex Dump Mode
Purpose: Sets the printer to print the DPL code received from
the host.
Default: Off
Input Port
Purpose: Sets the type of input port you are using on your
printer. You can set this value to parallel, serial, or
network.
Default: Serial
Label Length
Purpose: Specifies the length of the labels in [inches] or [mm]
depending on the units selected. This parameter is
automatically set during the Initial Setup
Configuration process.
Default: 200 mm (7.87 inches) if set for Continuous media
Note: You can only set the label length if the
Media Type is set to Continuous.
Label Width
Purpose: Specifies the width of the label in [inches] or [mm].
You should set the width to prevent labels from
being printed outside of the printable area, which
may harm the printhead.
Default: Full width of printhead:
50.8 mm (2 inches) (F2)
101.6 mm (4 inches) (F4, 501XP)
152.4 mm (6 inches) (601XP)
DSim User’s Guide 17
Log to Card
Purpose: Logs the received data to a file on a PC card. You can
use the log file for later analysis.
Default: Off
LTS
Purpose: Turns the label taken sensor (LTS) on or off.
Default: Off
Media Darkness
Purpose: Adjusts the darkness and contrast of the printout.
You can adjust this value from 0 to 64.
Default: 32
Media Type
Purpose: Sets the type of media used in the printer. Choices
include: Continuous, Non Continuous with Mark,
or Non Continuous with Gap.
Note: If you chose Non Continuous with Mark or
Non Continuous with Gap, the printer calibrates the
media measurement after you select the media type.
Optimize Bar Code Magnification
Purpose: Magnifies the lowest narrow bar width if the printer
resolution is different than your old Datamax printer.
For example, if simulating an 8 dots/mm Datamax
printer on a 12 dots/mm EasyCoder printer, there
will be a noticeable difference when printing a bar
code where the narrow bars are one dot wide.
18 DSim User’s Guide
Optimize Bar Code Magnification (continued)
Usually the DSim program selects the bar code
magnification that is smaller or equal to the desired
size, but you may want a larger sized bar code. In
most cases, a value of 1 should be sufficient. You can
adjust the value from 0 to 9.
Default: 0 (off)
Optimize Batch
Purpose: When in Batch mode, stops the printer from
retracting each label after it prints so that the labels
print faster and more smoothly.
Default: Off
Optimize Centronics
Purpose: Configures the parallel port for the correct type of
communications used in your network. Options
include Standard, IBM/Epson, and Classic.
Default: Classic
Optimize Image Magnification
