ATTENTION: This book has been prepared to provide information and suggestions
for Operators in their operation of the G-290 grinder and polisher.
It is not intended that the suggestions in this booklet take precedence
over existing job-site safety rules and regulations, or OSHA regulations. However, a
thorough study of the following information should provide a better understanding
of safe operation and aord a greater margin of safety for people and machinery
on the job-site.
It must be recognized that this is a booklet of suggestions for the Operators
use. It is the responsibility of the owner to make personnel aware of all federal, state

ALL ABOUT YOUR G-290
(metal bonds, resin bonds, etc.) depending on the
surface to be worked.
The gear drive system has been designed with a heavy duty belt that reduces
slipping and extends the life of the machine. We have paid special attentions to the
designing of upper and lower external seals for the head, which prevents dust from
getting to the internal seal and locking up bearings. Both the grinding plates and
gear drive assembly are enclosed in a safety shroud (A:2) which has two dust exhaust
ports (A:3) to be used when dry grinding.
The chassis (B) comprises a water tank (B:1) and an inverter box (B:2) with fan on
one side and an exhaust lter on the other. The water tank is large enough to hold
approximately 8 gallons of water. The water is gravity fed and released by using the
water valve (B:3) located at the bottom of the frame.
The
G-290
is unique in that the weights © are attached to the frame, which prevents
loss while maintaining an orderly job site. They provide 72lbs of additional weight
and are located on both sides of the machine. They can be lowered independently
on either side to help cut and edge more eciently.
The frame of the machine extends above the chassis and holds the self-adjusting
handlebars (D) and the control panel. The control panel (E) includes the speed setting
which has a wide range of speed control, allowing you more room to dial each tool to
its optimum cutting speed.
The
G-290
has been designed by the
engineers at Concrete Polishing Solutions
to be the most innovative in grinding
and polishing technology. We have used
our experience in the industry to create
a grinder and polisher that combines
practicality and durability.
The grinding head assembly (A), contains
the motor (A:1), the grinding plates are part
of the revolutionary three-head grinding
system designed by CPS. This new system
contours to the oors surface, reducing
rigidity, allowing your tooling to better
follow the oors surface, and lowering initial
diamond costs. These driving plates can be
tted with a number of attachment plates

UNDERSTANDING YOUR CONTROLS
The control box is mounted on top of the G-290 on top of the control plate.
Please note that some of the controls are strictly for programming the machine
and are not part of the every-day function of the machine. Please contact the
CPS Customer Service Department if you have any questions regarding the
programming of your grinder/polisher.
1. RUN - Use this button to turn the main electric
motor on to begin function.
2. STOP/RESET - Use the top part of this button, labeled “STOP”
to initiate the shut-down sequence, bringing the head
assembly to a gradual stop and shutting o all power
to the G-290 . The bottom part of the button labeled
“RESET may be used to reactivate the initial start-up sequence. This button is
primarily used after the Emergency Stop button has been pressed.
3. FORWARD/REVERSE - Pressing this button determines
the direction of the head and controls direction of the machine.
Pressing”FWD” rotates the head in a clockwise direction and
moves the G-290 in a forward directions, while “REV rotates
counter-clockwise, moving the G-290 in th reverse direction.
4. Display Screen - This sc reen is used to display system status and
error codes.
IMPORTANT! This button is only to be used in the event of emergency
and should not be used routinely to top the machine.
5. Emergency Stop- In the event of an emergency, this
button will immediately shut down the machine, skipping
the gradual slowing process and cutting all power to
the motor and plates at once.
6. Speed Potentiometer - This is a variable speed, rotating selection with
parameters from 1-10, depending on how slow or fast you want the
machine to operate.
The following controls are used to operate the machine on the job site:
IMPORTANT! Do not leave the G-290/290PRO standing in on during shut-
down phase. Always keep machine in mtion until the head has comes to a full

PREPARING THE MACHINE
Perform the steps listed below to prepare your machine for operation.
CAUTION! Always place hands in center of handlebars (see pictures in
Transporting the Machine) when lowering and raising machine. This method
increases stability and reduces the risk of machine tilting as it is repositioned.
a. Make sure handle is in an upright “locked” position.
1. Attach appropriate grinding tools to G-290
c. Kneeling in front of upended machine, put metal bond plate or
resin plates on the cross-complete. Turn the cross-complete lock in
either place.
*NOTE: To remove plate:
lay the machine on its back
again and disengage cross-
complete from driving plate
by turning cross-complete
and lining up notches until
plate slips free.
d. Return the machine to upright
position and adjust handle to
operating position. Lock the
handle pin into position.
2. Check that the safety guard is properly attached and secured.
3. If dry grinding, you will need to locate vacuum and dust interceptor to location
of grind. Then hook hose up to join vacuum and dust interceptor. Run the machine
hose to dust interceptor.
4. The power cord should be included with delivery of your G-290. Locate power
cord and plug into receptacle located next to the handle pin on top of the inverter
box. Plug into an appropriate power source.
Always use a three-wire electrical system
connected to the electrical ground. For
maximum protection against electric
shock, use a circuit that is protected by a
ground fault circuit interrupter.
b. Lay the machine on its back with the handle laying on the oor.
This exposes the driving plate on the underside of the machine.
5. Before beginning your job, walk the area and clear all debris. Injuries may occur
from debris projected into the air by impact. Projected debris can cause injuries to
operators, co-workers, and property.
