GENERAL INFORMATION

Note: Do not operate the ﬁreplace without the hood installed in its

normal position. See Figure 1 for models with clean face panel

or Figure 2 for models with louvers.

Step 1. Grasp the existing hood and pull it forward away from the ﬁreplace

(it is held in place by spring tension). See Figure 1 for models

with clean face panel of Figure 2 for models with louvers.

Step 2. Press the polished brass or brushed stainless hood into its slot

in the ﬁreplace as shown.

These polished brass hood trim kits (Catalog No. 96K66 to 96K69, 98K28,

98L10 and H7028) or brushed stainless hood trim kits (Catalog Numbers

88L47 to 88L51, 98L11 and H7029), may be used with Merit™, Merit

Plus™ or Elite® series gas ﬁreplaces, to replace the factory installed

painted hood. These kits contain a polished brass or brushed stainless

hood and these instructions.
