TAKE OFF OR IN FLIGHT.
IN STRUC TIONS:
1.Open bag gage door from out side air craft.
2.Re move roya lite cov ers from in side of bag gage door.
3.Open the aux il iary exit han dle ac cord ing to the ad ja cent plac ard or the Pi lot’s
Op er at ing Hand book, SEC TION III.

M20K - S/N 25- 0001 THRU 25- 0754
In spect bag gage door in side latch ing mecha nism and Log Book of above S/N air craft to de ter -
mine if S.I. M20- 63 has been in cor po rated and if so, skip step 4. If not, pro ceed with step 4 to add
modi fied cle vis pin for at tach ment of spring, LE- 029C-6.
4.Re move AN380- 2-2 cot ter pin form ex ist ing AN393- 33 cle vis pin in cam slot of
red han dle and re move ex ist ing cle vis pin. Modi fied cle vis pin, P/N 350190- 001,
(grooved for spring at tach ment) will be used in this lo ca tion af ter red han dle is
modi fied and ready for re in stal la tion.
5.Re move AN380- 2-2 ,cot ter pin from cle vis pin, AN393- 35, that se cures red han dle
to latch pivot point. Re move cle vis pin and red han dle from latch ing mecha nism.
6.Re move white knob as sem bly from hole in red han dle.
7.Mod ify large round hole in red han dle to a slot ted hole per Fig ure M20- 239-1.
8.Re move ex ist ing clip, P/N 350191- 003 or -005, from door frame by drill ing out
two (2) riv ets.
9.In stall 350191- 9007 clip/pin as sem bly, with small hole to ward red han dle pivot
point; lo cat ing pin rela tive to slot in han dle as il lus trated in Fig ure M20- 239-2.
Ex ist ing holes should line up; if not, drill two (# 30 drill) holes into bag gage door
us ing pi lot holes in clip/pin assy as a guide. In stall with two CR3213- 4-2 riv ets.
10.In stall lan yard, P/N 90312A21, on red han dle per Fig ure M20- 239-2. Use
CR3213- 4-3 rivet and two AN960-4 wash ers (one un der rivet head and one on
back side of red han dle).
11.In sert Hitch Pin, P/N 98335A044, on to lan yard loop.
12.Re in stall modi fied red han dle to pivot point us ing origi nal cle vis pin and to the
latch/rod mecha nism us ing modi fied (grooved) cle vis pin; use a new cot ter pin,
P/N AN380- 2-2, for each cle vis pin.
13.At tach spring, P/N LE- 029C-6, be tween groove in modi fied cle vis pin on red
han dle and small hole in 350190- 9007 clip/pin as sem bly. New spring and cle vis
pin are in kit.
14.Check in side door latch mecha nism op era tion to in sure that spring pulls cle vis pin
into slots of out side han dle when red han dle is in the closed po si tion. This auto-
ma tic en gage ment should oc cur every time the red han dle is opened and then
closed. Lu bri cate latch mecha nism per chart in CHAPTER 5 of Serv ice and
Main te nance Man ual.

15.Ob serve move ment of latch ing rod arms as red han dle is opened and closed; be
sure rod arm link has been re- attached to red han dle with the cle vis pin.
16. Place red han dle to the closed po si tion and in sert hitch pin through hole in
AN393-7 pin, part of clip/pin as sem bly. This will se cure red han dle in the closed
po si tion.
17.Re place in side roya lite cov ers over the latch ing mecha nism and red han dle.
18.Re move ex ist ing de cal on bag gage door roya lite panel and in stall the 150080- 834
de cal in cluded in this kit (See Fig ure M20- 239-3) in same lo ca tion.
19.Close bag gage door from out side in nor mal man ner.
NOTE:
It is rec om mended that the bag gage door be SE CURELY CLOSED AND locked, be fore flight.

tin. If Serv ice In struc tion M20- 82 has been in cor po rated pre vi ously, the AFM Sup ple ment re lat ing to that
modi fi ca tion can be dis carded; this AFM Sup ple ment su per sedes it. Mark para graphs in ba sic POH/AFM (re fer
to Sup ple ment for spe cific page num bers) for ref er ence to SEC TION IX sup ple men tal in for ma tion.

BAG GAGE DOOR
If the bag gage door is not prop erly closed, it may come un latched in flight. This may oc cur
dur ing or af ter take off. The door will open to its full open po si tion and then take an in ter me di -
ate po si tion de pend ing upon speed and at ti tude of the air craft. There will be con sid er able
wind noise and any loose, light ob jects may exit the air craft if in the vi cin ity of the open door.
There is no way to shut and latch the door from the in side; fly the air craft in nor mal man ner.
LAND AS SOON AS POS SI BLE and se cure the bag gage door.

PULL latch pin from hole in clip as sem bly. LIFT red han dle UP. OPEN door and exit air craft.
TO VER IFY RE- ENGAGEMENT OF BAG GAGE DOOR LATCH MECHA NISM:
OPEN out side han dle fully. CLOSE in side red han dle to en gage pin into cam slide of latch
mecha nism. PLACE latch pin in hole of clip as sem bly to hold red han dle down. RE PLACE
cover. CHECK and op er ate out side han dle in nor mal man ner.

EMER GENCY EX ITS
CABIN DOOR
The cabin door is the pri mary emer gency exit from the cabin. If a situa tion ex ists where a
prob able emer gency land ing will oc cur, the door should be un latched to pre vent jam ming of
the door dur ing the emer gency.
BAG GAGE DOOR
The bag gage com part ment ac cess door can be used as a means of aux il iary exit. The door
can be opened from the in side even though locked. To open, pull off the small ABS cover,
PULL out the latch pin and lift UP red han dle.
