Is it really true - only wineries can grow grapes? Of course
not! They can be grown by anyone and are one of the most
widely produced fruits in the world. There are, however, many
different types of grapes with some more suitable in the
home garden than others.

About This Variety: Thomcord is a seedless, self-pollinating variety and is heat tolerant. This incomparable blue
table grape offers the best of both worlds with the deep lushness of Concord but with the light sweetness
of Thompson, and it is aromatic in flavor. It was developed by the Californian grape breeders working for the ARS,
an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). It is a popular supermarket variety but enjoyable
to grow on your own.
Growing Instructions: Plant dormant, bare-root grape vines in the early spring. Construct a trellis, or framework
so you can train the vines to grow upon it. Before planting soak the roots in water for a 2 hours. Full sun locations
are best and good drainage is important.
Care Tip: With proper pruning they will produce fruit with ease and can last longer than 30 years. Allow the vine
to establish itself before you start harvesting fruit.
Exposure: Full sun
Height: Grows 30’ long
Spacing: Plant 15-30’ apart, 6” deep
Hardy in: USDA zones 6-9
