Air Tractor Preventative
Maintenance Manual
And Troubleshooting
1.0 Overview
This maintenance schedule will assist in the maintenance and troubleshooting procedures for
the Unified Industries Air Tractor. The first portion of this section details the general maintenance
that must be performed to keep the Air Tractor in good running order and in a safe condition for the
operator. The second portion describes troubleshooting to be used to help diagnose tool malfunction.
When the Air Tractor has been set up and operating properly, a record of its performance
should be documented and saved. Comparison of the initial records on a weekly or monthly basis
with current records of the systems performance will reveal changes in the efficiency of operation of
the unit and possible impending problems. To ensure safe and proper operation and prolong the use-
fulness of the unit; the following daily, weekly and monthly preventive maintenance schedules have
been established. Adherence to this schedule is necessary to ensure proper long term performance.

Warning: For Troubleshooting make sure Air Tractor is in a safe work area
Air Tractor only works in one direction
 Check that unit has proper air supply.
 Check all fittings and lines for leaks.
 Check for clogging.

Check for defective regulator.

Make sure flow controls are open, try again.
If above checks pass
1. Disconnect lines 105 and 106 (see Figure 2) from either the motor or control valve.
2. Operate pendant control. Check to see which line is not getting air.
3. Reconnect the line that is working.
4. If line 105 is not working, check to make sure the pilot of the valve is working.
4a. If the pilot line 103 has air coming out when pendant control is operated and the valve is not shift-
ing, replace valve.
4b. If no air is coming out of line 103, check to make sure there is no crimped line going to or from
pendant control. Check pendant Control (Figure 3).
5. If line 106 is not working, check to make sure the pilot of the valve is working
5a. If the pilot line 102 has air coming out when pendant control is operated and the valve is not shift-
ing, replace valve.
5b. If no air is coming out of line 102, check to make sure there is no crimped line going to or from
pendant control. Check pendant Control.
Checking Pendant Control (Figure 3)
1. Remove lines 102 and 103 from Pendant. Operate the pendant control, air should come out of the
corresponding ports when the pendant control is operated.
2. If no air is coming out of the ports, remove line 1 from the pendant control.

 Check for clogging or crimps.
 Make sure flow controls are open, try again.
If checks pass
1. Disconnect lines 102 and 103 (see Figure 2) from control valve.
2. Operate pendant control to feel if air is coming out of line 102 and 103 using corresponding control.
A. If air is present,
- Reconnect lines102 and 103 to the corresponding tees of the valve.
- Disconnect the Blue OR valve from the port of the control valve.
- Operate pendant control, check for air coming out of OR valve.
If air is not present, replace OR valve.
If air is present, re-connect OR valve to the port of control valve. Remove lines 107 and
108.
Warning: Plant air will come out of line 107 with force, make sure line is secure.
Operate pendant control, air should come out of line 108.
If air comes out of line 108, replace cylinder
