INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
Encapsulated solenoid operator PV - EMXX (Global Codication Insertion A7)
GENERAL
This installation and maintenance
instruction sheet of the solenoid is a
general supplement to the particular I&M
sheet for the valve. The identication is
made by prex PV to the catalogue number
(A7 insertion for the Global Codcation).
Always use both I&M sheets for installing
and maintaining the solenoid valve.
DESCRIPTION
The solenoid valves are designed in
accordance with Annex II of the European
Directive 2014/34/EU and IECEx Scheme:
IECEx 02. EC type examination certicate
BASATEX2168X and IECEx certificate
IECExSIR06.0109X are in compliance with
International and European standards:

EN ISO 80079-36
EN ISO 80079-37
EN 60079-0 IEC 60079-0
EN 60079-18 IEC 60079-18

INSTALLATION
ASCO™ components are intended to be
used only within the technical characteristics
as specied on the nameplate. Changes
to the equipment are only allowed
after consulting the manufacturer or its
representative. These solenoid valves
are intended for installation in potentially
explosive atmospheres, Group II gases,
vapors, mists or dusts (Group G/D,
category 2). The surface temperature
classification depends on wattage and
ambient temperature which are stated on
the nameplate.
ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION
Wiring must comply with local and national
regulations of explosion proof equipment.
The electrical connection is made via a
2 or 3 core cable. The 3 core cable is
provided with a green/yellow coloured lead,
the internal ground wire. The cable of the
solenoid must be static at -40°C and may
be exed above -8°C. The solenoid shall
be connected to a supply, protected by
fuse capable of extinguishing a prospective
short current.
GROUNDING
To minimise the possibility of personal or
property damage, ensure that grounding of
the coils is maintained through the life of the
valve. The washer, spring (item 5) provides
reliable connection between the coil and
the sol.base sub-assembly if correctly
maintained.
CAUTION
Electrical load must be within the range
stated on the nameplate (max. 1.1 times
rated voltage). Failure to stay within the
electrical range of the coil rating results in
damage to or premature failure of the coil.
It will also invalidate the approval.
SERVICE
To prevent the possibility of personal or
property damage, do not touch the solenoid.
It can become hot under normal operation
conditions. If the solenoid valve is easily
accessible, the installer must provide
protection preventing accidental contact.
To prevent electrostatic hazard, clean coil
surface only with a damp cloth. Do not use
solvents.
MAINTENANCE
Maintenance depends on service conditions.
Periodic cleaning is recommended, the
timing of which will depend on the media
and service conditions. During servicing,
components should be examined for
excessive wear. A complete set of internal
parts is available as a spare parts kit.
If a problem occurs during installation/
maintenance or in case of doubt
please contact Emerson or authorized
representative.
CAUTION: Before servicing the solenoid
valve, turn o electrical power, depressurize
valve and vent uid to a safe area. Solenoid
must be fully reassembled to complete the
magnetic circuit. In case of any replacement
of parts by the user, the traceability of the
final product can not be guaranteed by
Emerson. Wrong assembly will invalidate
the approval.
PETROL VENDING APPLICATIONS
These solenoid valves are particularly
suited for use in zone 1 Petrol Vending
Applications. When used as a part of a
vapour recovery system special attention
should be taken to ensure that there is no
external leakage of the valve in accordance
with the applicable standards and all seals
must be replaced during maintenance.
