CAUTIONS:
To prevent severe shock or electrocution, always turn the power OFF at the service
panel before working with wiring.
Use this receptacle with copper or copper-clad wire. Do not use it with aluminum wire.
For installation in damp or wet locations, the receptacle must be listed and marked as
Weather Resistant (WR).
For installation in wet locations, protect the receptacle with a cover plate or outlet box
hood suitable for wet locations that will keep both the receptacle and plug face dry.
Must be installed in accordance with national and local electrical codes.
Turn the power OFF
Power to the receptacle must be turned OFF before the receptacle is installed. After the
power is OFF, confirm that power to the receptacle is not being supplied by another source
(such as a battery backup or mechanical switch).
1. Plug an electrical device, such as a lamp or radio, into the receptacle you are working on
and then turn the lamp or radio on.
2. Go to the service panel. Find the breaker or fuse that protects that receptacle.
3. Place the breaker in the OFF position or completely remove the fuse.
4. The lamp or radio must turn OFF.
5. Plug the lamp or radio into the receptacle’s other outlet. Turn the lamp or radio ON to
make sure that power is OFF at both outlets. If power is not OFF, stop work and call an
electrician to complete the installation.
Wire the Receptacle
1. Trim or strip wires to the length indicated on the strip gauge on the back of the
receptacle.
NOTE: Do not use stranded or twisted wire.
2. Wire the receptacle.
