UA-M10
Install the driver
In order to use this unit, you’ll need to download and install a driver on your computer.
Update this unit
This document explains the functionality of UA-M10 version 2. In order to use all of the “Output
Mode” functionality, you’ll need to update your UA-M10 unit.

USB indicator
This is lit when the UA-M10 is operating.
This blinks slowly when DSD data is playing.

Level/Volume
indicator
Indicates the USB OUT 1/2 playback level.
When you press a volume [-] [+] button, this temporarily indicates the current volume
setting.

Volume [-] [+]
buttons
Use the [-] [+] buttons to adjust the USB OUT 1/2 volume.
The specied volume setting is remembered.
If you want to temporarily mute, press both buttons at the same time.

Connect headphones here.
With the factory settings, the same sound (USB OUT 1/2) is output at the same
volume from both
Q
(Headphone) A and B jacks.
The sound that’s output from the
Q
(Headphone) B/LINE OUT jack can be
changed (USB OUT 1/2 or USB OUT 3/4) by a driver setting.
NOTE
Depending on the settings, there might be cases in which the volume setting
of the
Q
(Headphone) B/LINE OUT jack has no eect. Take care regarding
possible high volume in your headphones.
For details on driver settings, refer to the ReadMe included with the driver.
* To prevent malfunction and equipment failure, always turn down the volume, and
turn o all the units before making any connections.

Connect this to a computer that supports USB 2.0.
Before connecting the UA-M10 for the rst time, you must install the driver as
described in “Install the Driver.
Turning the Power On
Once everything is properly connected, be sure to follow the procedure below to turn on their power. If
you turn on equipment in the wrong order, you risk causing malfunction or equipment failure.
1. Use a USB cable to connect the UA-M10 to your computer.
The UA-M10’s power turns on.
* This unit is equipped with a protection circuit. A brief interval (a few seconds) after turning the unit on is required
before it will operate normally.
2. Turn on the power of the device that’s connected to the
Q
(Headphone) B/LINE OUT jack, and adjust
the volume.
* You might hear some sound when switching the unit on/o. However, this is normal and does not indicate a
malfunction.
Device Setting Panel
You can set such as Output Mode by using the UA-M10 device setting panel installed in your computer.
The device setting panel will be available for use after you’ve installed the dedicated driver.
Starting Up the Device Setting Panel
Access the UA-M10 device setting panel as follows.
Windows
Open “Control Panel” and change the view to “Small icons.
Click the [UA-M10] icon, and then click the device settings button.
Mac OS X
Open the system preferences, click the [UA-M10] icon, and then click the
device settings button.
Output Mode
2 channel (A:phones, B:phones)
The same sound is output at the same volume from both the
Q
(Headphone) A jack and the
Q
(Headphone) B/LINE OUT jack.

Choose this setting if you want to listen to headphones while sending a dierent signal via line out.

Choose this setting if you’re using headphones with a balanced connection. The

NOTE
You must connect a 3-pole mini-type plug (balanced type) to the
Q
(Headphone) A jack and
Q
(Headphone) B/LINE OUT jack. Connecting a 2-pole mini-type plug to these jacks may cause
malfunctions.
D/A Conversion
This changes the 1 bit mode setting. Normally you’ll leave this turned on.
MEMO
Turn 1 bit mode o in the following cases.
5 If the level meter of the connection-destination moves even during times of silence.
5 If precise reproduction of the phase is the priority
Attenuate Level (line out) (*1)
If the Output Mode is set to “4 channel (A:phones, B:line out)” or “2 channel (A:phones, B:line out), this
setting lets you attenuate the signal of the
Q
(Headphone) B/LINE OUT jack. Normally you will leave this set
at 0 dB (no attenuation).
NOTE
If a device whose volume cannot be adjusted is connected to the
Q
(Headphone) B/LINE OUT jack,
the sound may distort, or high volume may damage your device. If headphones are connected,
high volume may damage your hearing. If you connect a device of this type, use Attenuate Level to
attenuate the signal.
Playing Back DSD Audio Data
This unit can play back DSD data of 2.8 MHz or 5.6 MHz sampling rates using the DoP standard.
1. Turn 1 bit mode on for the UA-M10.
2. Start a playback application that supports DSD, and set it to play back using the DoP standard.
* When playing DSD data of 2.8 MHz or 5.6 MHz, the SAMPLE RATE in the driver settings panel indicates 176400 Hz
or 352800 Hz respectively.
* 5.6 MHz DSD data is down-converted to 2.8 MHz for playback.
