Training

Gasoline
WARNING
Gasolineishighlyammable.Takethefollowing
precautions.
•Storefuelincontainersspecicallydesignedfor

•Refueloutdoorsonlyanddonotsmokewhile
refueling.
•Addfuelbeforestartingtheengine.Never
removethecapofthefueltankoraddgasoline

Preparation

•Thoroughlyinspecttheareawherethemachineistobe
used,andremoveallstones,sticks,wires,bones,and
otherforeignobjects.
•Beforeusing,alwaysvisuallyinspecttoseethatguardsand
safetydevices,suchasdeectorsand/orgrasscatchers,
areinplaceandworkingcorrectly.
•Beforeusing,alwaysvisuallyinspecttoseethatthe
blades,bladebolts,andcutterassemblyarenotwornor
damaged.Replacewornordamagedbladesandboltsin

Starting
Starttheenginecarefully,accordingtoinstructionsandwith
feetwellawayfromtheblade(s)andnotinfrontofthe
dischargechute.
Operation
•Nevermowwhilepeople,especiallychildren,orpetsare
nearby.
•Mowonlyindaylightoringoodarticiallight.
•Stayalertforholesintheterrainandotherhiddenhazards.
•Donotputhandsorfeetnearorunderrotatingparts.
Keepclearofthedischargeopeningatalltimes.
•Neverpickuporcarrythemachinewhiletheengineis
running.

•ReplacethebladewhennecessarywithaToro
replacementblade.
CuttingGrass
•Cutonlyaboutathirdofthegrassbladeatatime.Do
notcutbelowthe51mmsettingunlessthegrassissparse
oritislatefallwhengrassgrowthbeginstoslowdown.
RefertoAdjustingtheCuttingHeight(page8).
•Whencuttinggrassover15cm(6inches)tall,mowatthe
highestcutting-heightsettingandwalkslower;thenmow
againatalowersettingforthebestlawnappearance.If
thegrassistoolong,themachinemaybecomeclogged
andcausetheenginetostall.
•Mowonlydrygrassorleaves.Wetgrassandleavestend
toclumpontheyardandcancausethemachineto
becomecloggedortheenginetostall.
