2foldplate.

isabouthalfamillimetreclearanceor1/64inch
Tightentheclampscrews.
Adjusttheheightofthepapergateusingknob(B)(clockwisetolower,anti-clockwiseto
raise)sothattheclearanceabovethevacuumrolleristwothicknessesofthepapertobe
folded.Donotmakethisadjustment,whenthefaceofthepapergateisaboveaholeinthe
vacuumroller,ifitis,rotatethevacuumrollerbyhandtobringthemetalbetweenholes
belowthepapergate.
On thismachine,thepapergateisfixedinanoptimumpositionandcannotbemoved
backwardsandforwards(horizontally).
Thesuctionslotinsidethesuctiondrum,maybeadjustedbyreleasingknob(C)and
swingingtheknobinthedesiredposition.Lighterstocksincludingbondwillrunbestwith
theknobsettotheleft.Forheavierstocksandcurled-upstock,movetheknob(C)tothe
rightuntilasatisfactorypositionisobtained.
TheMorgana‘Major’canbesettoa'ShortSuck'modeofoperation,whichimprovesthe
feedofA4sheets(inlandscapeorientation),andalsoimprovesthefeedofsheetssmaller
thanA4.The'ShortSuck'modeofoperationisparticularlyusefulforperforatingorscoring
applications.
Setthe“Feed'switch(U)ontheoperatorpaneltotheupposition('Off').
Setthe“ResetPulse'switch(W)ontheoperatorpaneltothedownposition('Stream').
Turnthe'Batch'knob(V)ontheoperatorpaneltoselect“P1'or'P2'intheBatchCounter
DisplayWindow.

Thisknobcontrolstheamountofairthatisfedtothepaper.Themachinewouldnormallyrun
withthisknobsetatthe‘High’position.Ifthemachineisrunwithlessthanapproximately20
sheetsontheloadingtable,orrunningthejobtothelastsheet,thisknobshouldbesettothe
lowposition.
Thisisplaceduptotheendofthepaperstackandclampedtothemovingsidelay(G).
Fitthefoldplatesintotheirrespectivepositions(longfoldplateupperandshortplatelower),by
locatingthefrontpins(I)intothelongslotsandcarefullyslidingforwards(withouttwisting)
untiltherearpinscanbelocatedintotheshortslots.Whenfullyinposition,pulldownthefold
platetolockintoposition.
Setthefoldlengthbyreleasingthelockknob(H)androtatingthedial(J).Thefoldlengthmay
bereadonamanualplatedirectlyoffthescale(K)orforthedigitalfoldplatebypressingthe
'ON'button(L).Moreprecisemovementswillberegisteredbypressing'micro'buttonMwhich
willdisplayincrements(ofonetenthofamillimetre,orforimperialmachinesonehundredthof
aninch).Topreservebatterylife,thedisplaywillswitchoffafter30seconds.
Ifthefoldneedstobetilted,thiscanbeachievedbyreleasingknob(N)andturningthedial(J),
().Movingthedialtothe+directionwillincreasethefoldlength
ontheoperatorside.

todeflect,firstensurethatthetiltissetatzero,thenafterreleasingthelockknob(H),keep
windingthedial(J)tominimumlengthuntilitstops,thentightenthelock(H).Thedigital
platewillshowaseriesofdashes---inthewindow.
Thestackingrollermustbesetaccordingtothelengthofthefoldedwork.Therollerismoved
byreleasingknob(P)whileslidingtheblockQtotherequiredposition.Youshouldadjustthe
rollerpositionsothatwhentheworkisstoppedbythestackingroller,itliesflatonthedelivery
withoutlyingontheslopingplate(R)andwithoutthegreenbeltsshowingbetweenthesloping
plate(R)andthefoldedsheet.
Thisswitchalsoservesasthemainisolatorandwhenthemachineisswitchedoffattheendof
thedaysrunning,pressthisswitchtoisolatethemachine.Toswitchbackon,rotatetheswitch
headclockwise.
Themainswitch(T)willrunthewholemachine.Thisswitchincorporatesacircuitthat
switchesoffevery100secondswhilstthefeedswitchUisintheoffposition.Themainswitch
maydisengageseeminglyatrandombutthisisanormalfunctionandmaybeinstantlyre-
engaged.
Switchesthefeedonandoff.
Thebatchknobisarotaryswitchandturningtheknobslightlysothatitmovesoneposition
willcausethedisplaytoshowthesetbatchquantity.Movingtheknobfurtherwillchangethe
batchquantityinmultiplesof10upto990.Stoppingthefeedinthemiddleofabatchwillnot
affectthebatch.Whenthemachinebatches,thefeedwillstopandthedisplaywillshowthe
batchquantitywithaseriesofdashes.Feedingwillresumeafterashortperiod.Ifbatchingis
notrequired,turnthebatchknob(V)untilitreads0inthedisplaypanel.When0isshown
afterturningbatchknob(V)thecounterwillonlytotalcount.

Theswitchhasthreepositions:
Operatingtheswitchupwardswillzerothetotalcountandifpartwaythroughabatch,it
willresetthebatchcount.
Afteroperatingtheswitchupwards,itwillspringbacktoitscentre(default)position.In
thispositionthefeederpausesbetweeneachsheetfed,leavingagapbetweensheets.This
iscalledpulsefeed.
Operatingtheswitchtoitslowestpositionwillchangethefeedtocontinuouswiththe
sheetsfollowingdirectlybehindeachother. Thisiscalledstreamfeed.
(Note)Inthepulsepositionagapof160mmwillbesetbetweeneachsheetasitisbeingfed
intothemachine.Thisgappreventssheetsoverlappinginsidethefoldplates,whichlessensthe
chanceofstaticbeinggeneratedandwilldecreasepaperjams.
Zigzag/concertina,engineeringandgatefoldsshouldonlyberunonpulse.Byholdingswitch
(W)down,thefeedmodewillswitchtostreamfeedwhichwillfeedpaperwithlittleornogap
betweenthesheets.Streamfeedwillincreaseproductivitybutfoldingaccuracymaybeslightly
impaired.Onlyusestreamonletter, halfordoubleparallelfolds.
Thepulsefeedwillcopewithalltypesoffoldincludingperforating.
Themachinehasabuiltinsystemthatwilldetectanysheetthatoverlapsanothersheetbyat
least20mm.Whenthishappens,feedingwillstopandthemainswitchwillswitchoff,
preventingseriousjamsandthedisplaywillshow'O-LAP'.Notethatthisisnotadouble
detectorandwillnotdetectalldoublesheetfeeds.Howevertheoverlapsystemisanindication
ofatendencytodoublesheetfeedandthereforethepapergateshouldbeloweredslightlyand
thepaperstackshouldbefannedoutmore thoroughly.
Themachinehasvariablerunningspeeds,whichareselectedusingtheknob(R).Turnthe
knobclockwisetoincreasethespeedandanti-clockwisetoreducethespeed.Theslowspeedis
recommendedwhenrunningworkthatisdifficulttostack,forexamplewhenperforatingor
foldinganengineeringtypefold.

Thepluginperforatorunitisusedforperforatingscoringandwhenfoldingcardcoverstock.
Removethesecondfoldplateandfitthecatchtrayinpositionbyhookingitovertheopening
forthesecondfoldplate.Thepluginperforatorunitthenlocatesthesameasthefoldplateand
again,takecarenottotwistwhenfittingintoposition.Youmayneedtoturnthehandwheel
andpushtheperforatorunitinwardstoengagethedrivegear.
Forallapplications,theunitissetonthebenchusingthescaletoindicatepositionsofthe
bladesandhubs.Itisimportanttospreadthehubsevenlyacrossthewidthoftheworkto
reducetheriskofpaperjams.
Whenperforatingorscoringwithoutfolding,thefirstfoldplatemustberemovedandreplaced
withthesecondfoldplate.Ensurethatthetiltisatzeroandsetthesecondfoldplatetodeflect.
Theperforatorbladesaresplitintotwomatchinghalvesandarefittedtotheupperhubsas
showninthedrawingusingthefourscrewssupplied.
Ahardenedanvilisfittedtothelowerhubasshowninthedrawingalsousingthefourscrews
supplied.Againtheanvilsaremadefrommatchinghalves. Note-Donotmixmatchinghalves
ofbladesoranvils

Slidethehubwiththebladeattachedalong,theshaftintopositiontocorrespondtothe
workusingthescaleasaguide.Forexample,toperforate20mmfromtheedgeofanA4
sheet,youwouldsetthebladeat190mm(210minus20).Whenpositionedre-tightenthe
2mm-grubscrew.-
Slidethehubwiththeanvil,uptotheperforatorbladeandtheremainingupperandlower
hubs,setasthedrawing,rememberingtospreadthemtosupportthesheetfullyacrossits
width.
Cliptheperforatorstripperadjacenttotheupperhubasshown.Plugtheunitinto
position,fitthesheetsmootherintopositiontoholdthesheetsdownandrunthemachine
attheslowspeedtocheckposition.
Adjustthebackstopandsideguidetosuitthework.
Forworklongerthanthebackstopwillallow,removethebackstopandusetheextended
backstopthatislocatedunderneaththecatchtray.
