IMPORTANT INFORMATION
This vehicle is designed for the operator only, no passengers.
This vehicle was not manufactured for use on public streets, roads or highways.
The use of this vehicle should be limited to riding on a closed course.
Observe the rules and regulations of the closed course you ride.
The standard tires are designed exclusively for use on a closed course. These
specialty tires are not designed for oval or partial oval course use and may not
be suitable for other courses or conditions. Kawasaki recommends that you fol-
low the tire manufacturer's instructions and warnings, and that you consult the
tire manufacturer to select the appropriate tires for the course or riding condi-
tions.
Computer controlled systems such as KIBS, KTRC, etc. are tuned with the
standard tires. Use of tires other than the standard tires could affect perform-
ance of these systems.
Warm up the tires to their operating temperature using tire warmers before rid-
ing.
When storing your motorcycle, use front and rear stands and keep the tires off
the floor.
Do not operate this vehicle in wet conditions.

Exhaust Emission
The exhaust sound level (standstill) of this vehicle is 120 dB (A) measured using
the method below.
Before riding, confirm the noise regulation of the closed course where you are
going to ride. The exhaust noise level measuring method may differ from one
course to another.
Reference Measuring Condition:
- Microphone position: 50 cm (19.7 in) from the exhaust pipe at an angle of 45°
measured from the center-line of the exhaust end and at the height of the ex-
haust pipe.
- Engine speed: 5 500 r/min (rpm), (Close throttle completely after the engine
speed was kept for 3 seconds.)
- Engine cooling wat er temperature: 90°C (194°F)

Read this Owners Manual carefully
before riding so that you will be thor-
oughly familiar with the proper opera-
tion of your motorcycles controls, its
features, capabilities, and limitations.
This manual offers many safe riding
tips, but its purpose is not to provide in-
struction in all of the techniques and
skills requir ed to ride a motorcycle
safely.
Daily Pre-Ride Checks and
Periodic Maintenance
It is important to keep your motor-
cycle properly maintained and in safe
riding condition. Inspect your motor-
cycle before every ride and carry out
all periodic maintenance. See the Daily
Pre-Ride Checks section and the Peri-
odic Maintenance section in the MAIN-
TENANCE AND ADJUSTMENT
chapter for more information.
WARNING
Failure to perform these checks
or to correct a problem before op-
eration may result in serious
damage or an accident. Always
perform daily pre-ride checks be-
fore operation.
To ensure your motorcycle is serv-
iced using the latest servicing informa-
tion, it is recommended that an
authorized Kawasaki Dealer performs
the periodic maintenance as directed
in the Owner's Manual.

If you notice any irregular operating
condition, have your motorcycle thor-
oughly checked at an authorized Ka-
wasaki dealer as soon as possible.
Safe Operation
The following should be carefully ob-
served for safe and effective vehicle
operation.
Carbon Monoxide Hazard
DANGER
Exhaust gas contains carbon
monoxide, a colorless, odorless
poisonous gas. Inhaling carbon
monoxide can cause serious
brain injury or death.
Do not run the engine in enclosed
areas. Operate only in a well-ven-
tilated area.
Fueling
WARNING
Gasoline is extremely flammable
and can be explosive under cer-
tain conditions.
To avoid a possible fire or explo-
sion, turn the ignition switch off.
Do not smoke. Make sure the
area is well ventilated and free
from any source of flame or
sparks; this includes any appli-
ance with a pilot light.
Never Ride with Drugs or Alco-
hol
Alcohol and drugs impair your judg-
ment and reaction time. Never con-
sume alcohol or drugs before or while
riding motorcycles.
