Natural and Propane/LP
gases are odorless. An odor-making
agent is added to these gases. The odor helps you detect a
gas leak. However, the odor added to the gas can fade. Gas
may be present even though no odor exists.
Make certain you read and understand all warnings. Keep
this manual for reference. It is your guide to safe and proper
operation of this fi replace.
WARNING: Any change to this appliance or its
controls can be dangerous.
Solid fuels shall not be burned in a fi replace where a
decorative appliance is installed.
Due to high temperatures, the appliance should be
located out of traffi c and away from furniture and
draperies.
Do not place clothing or other fl ammable material on
or near the appliance. Never place any objects on the
appliance.
Appliance base assembly becomes very hot when run-
n i n g ap p li a nc e . K e ep c h i ld r e n an d a du l ts a w a y f r om h o t
surface to avoid burns or clothing ignition. Appliance
will remain hot for a time after shutdown. Allow surface
to cool before touching.
Carefully supervise young children when they are in the
room with appliance. When using the hand-held remote
accessory, keep selector switch in the OFF position to
prevent children from turning on burners with remote.
You must operate this appliance with the fi replace
screen and hood in place. Make sure fi replace screen
and hood are in place before running appliance. The
fi replace screen shall have openings for introduction
of combustion air.
Keep the appliance area clear and free from combus-
tible materials, gasoline and other fl ammable vapors
and liquids.
WARNING: Improper installation, adjustment, al-
teration, service or maintenance can cause injury or
property damage. Refer to this manual for correct in-
stallation and operational procedures. For assistance
or additional information consult a qualifi ed installer,
service agency or the gas supplier.
WARNING: This appliance is for installation only
in a solid-fuel-burning masonry or UL127 factory-built
fi replace or in a listed outdoor fi replace. Do not install
this appliance in an unvented fi replace indoors.
WARNING: Fireplace must be operated only with
doors fully open.
This appliance may be installed in an aftermarket,*
permanently located, manufactured (mobile) home,
where not prohibited by local codes.
This appliance is only for use with the type of gas
indicated on the rating plate. This appliance is not
convertible for use with other gases.

IMPORTANT: Read this owner’s manual carefully and

vice this appliance. Improper use of this appliance can

DANGER: Carbon monoxide poisoning may lead
to death!
Carbon Monoxide Poisoning: Early signs of carbon mon-
oxide poisoning resemble the fl u, with headaches, dizziness
or nausea. If you have these signs, the fi replace may not be
working properly. Get fresh air at once! Have fi replace ser-
viced. Some people are more affected by carbon monoxide
than others. These include pregnant women, people with
heart or lung disease or anemia, those under the infl uence
of alcohol and those at high altitudes.
