U-Joint Puller
1. Remove all bolts from the bearing cups.
2. Slip No. 5190 U-joint puller over the driveshaft yoke as shown.
3. Use a1-1/4" wrench or socket to turn the forcing screw clockwise.
4. When the bearing cup is loose, repeat the procedure on each
bearing cup.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to the U-joint puller, keep
forcing screw threads cleaned and lubricated.
Tech Tip
On some older drive lines, the U-joint cross may bottom out on
the yoke before the bearing cup is completely removed. In that
case, pull back the U-joint cross far enough to allow the needle
bearings to move into the path of the trunnion. Then apply the
puller again. The U-joint cross will compress the needle bearings,
and it should be possible to remove the bearing cup.
