Plan and Policies 4.
4.1 Plan Group Types
SEE is responsible for the decision making in the CS, while it queries PE for what action to take. The
decision making data is stored in the PE in forms of different plan groups representing the following set
of services:
Service Trigger. Related to special services including re-routing.
Authorization. Enables the PE to determine whether a caller is authorized to place a call,
suitable for PIN-based services (see ControlSwitch Business Services and Advanced Policies
User's Manual, section Authorization).
Location Service. Enables the PE to provide information regarding how to locate the ingress
trunk group, used for services such as border gateway (see ControlSwitch Business Services and
Advanced Policies User's Manual, section Location Services).
Announcement. Enable the PE to respond with the announcement to be played.
Routing. Enables the PE with routing information, to decide how to route the call and how to
re-route the call in case of the far-end failure.
Tariff. Enables the PE to determine which tariff plan to use (see ControlSwitch Business Services
and Advanced Policies User's Manual, section Tariff).
QoS. Enables the PE to provide information regarding the QoS criteria and reports.
The plan groups are configured via the EMS GUI.
4.2 Plan Groups Architecture
The following shows the Plan Groups architecture.
ControlSwitch (v.5.11.1) Policies and Routing User’s Manual
Dialogic Inc. Proprietary Page 13
Each Plan Group may contain Plan Types, and each plan type may contain multiple Policies. Policies in
a plan are executed according to an execution order, and their logic is provided as a tree-based
hierarchy. Each plan/policy can be activated or deactivated. Each policy node contains different decision
points. These decision points are called Rules, which their logic is interpreted in an “If, Then, Else” logic
with support for enhanced structuring such as Goto, and GoSub, followed be a Treatment. Rule and
treatment nodes can be activated or deactivated.
In the below example, the parameters are defined as follows:
Plan Group. Routing.
Plan. Europe Plan-1
Policy. Policy France-UK-Germany
ControlSwitch (v.5.11.1) Policies and Routing User’s Manual
Dialogic Inc. Proprietary Page 14
Rule Node. Three nodes: Rule-France, Rule-UK, and Rule Germany
Treatment Node. Three treatments, each following a rule, as shown in the policy above
ControlSwitch (v.5.11.1) Policies and Routing User’s Manual
Dialogic Inc. Proprietary Page 15
Service Trigger 5.
Complex services that include multiple triggers during the session's life time use the Service Trigger. An
account code call service, which uses: multiple announcements in different stages of the call, digit
collection, authorization, and routing is an example of a service which uses service trigger. See
ControlSwitch Advanced Elements and Services User's Manual, Services for details on the model and
architecture.
Service triggers define what service to activate at each DP (triggers) during the call. It includes the
following entities:
Plan Group. List of plans (DPs/states).
Plans (DP). List of policies.
Policies. Rules (trigger) and treatments.
5.1 Service Trigger Plan Groups
Prior to plans and policies settings a plan group should be created. The displayed window allows the
configuration of the service trigger plan groups. The following table details the displayed parameters.
