1 Introduction
1.1 Overview
Catalyst is a high performance, low power module based on the Intel® Atom™ processor. It uses
an integrated two-chip solution comprised of the Intel Atom processor and Intel System Controller
Hub (SCH) US15W. The Intel Atom processor utilizes the new low power Intel micro
architecture, while the Intel SCH US15W contains an integrated 2D/3D graphics controller
supporting hardware accelerated graphics display and video processing capabilities. Catalyst
allows embedded users to gain higher performance with greater energy efficiency.
An application-specific carrier board integrates with the Catalyst module for a total production

3.1.2 Determining Pin Numbers
Most double-row headers place even pins on one side and odd pins on the
other. The diagram at right indicates how pins are numbered, as seen from
the component side
2
of the board. Connector J28 is an exception and does
not follow this numbering. This connector conforms to the ATX Specification v2.2 for power
supplies (Section 3.3.22).
To locate pin 1 of a connector or jumper, try the following:
1. Look for a visible number or marking on the board that indicates connector pin numbering. A
notch or dot usually indicates pin 1.
2. Look at the underside of the board. The square pad is pin 1.
3. Download the mechanical drawing of the carrier board from the Eurotech support site. The
square or indicated pad on each connector is pin 1.
3.2 Switches, Controls and Indicators
This section describes various switches, jumpers, and indicators on the carrier board. The location
indicated for each item refers to the grid diagram in Section 3.1.1.
3.2.1 SW1: Reset
Location on board: G1
SW1 is the reset button for the Catalyst module. This switch connects to the front panel reset
signal, /SWX_RESET (J55 pin 7, Section 3.3.40). Pressing SW1 initiates a hardware reset of
module circuitry including the processor. Press this button to restart the system without cycling
power.
3.2.2 SW2: On/Off
Location on board: G2
SW2 is the On/Off button for the Catalyst module. This switch connects to the front panel power
signal, /SWX_ONOFF (J55 pin 6, Section 3.3.40). SW2 controls power on/off or indicates a
power state change.
3.2.3 S1: Radio Disable
Location on board: G4
S1 is a one-position slide switch that controls the radio operation of a wireless communications
add-in card connected to the Mini PCIe 0 interface (Section 3.3.13) When in the "ON" position,
the switch grounds the signal, /W_DISABLE, disabling the radio. Otherwise, the signal connects
directly to 3.3 V power.
2
The component side of the Catalyst module is the one on which the processor and most large
chips are populated. The component side of the carrier board is the one that mates to the module.
