Overview

Advantage foot pedals are designed to act as an extension of your Kinesis contoured keyboard. Advantage foot pedals are not

stand-alone devices, they must be connected to a Kinesis Advantage contoured keyboard. Once connected, an Advantage foot

pedal can be programmed as if it were another key on the keyboard.

Compatibility

Advantage foot pedals are plug-and-play with all Advantage and Advantage2 model keyboards.

Installation

Plug the foot pedal into the telephone-style (RJ11) connector at the back of the keyboard.

Warning: Do not connect the pedal a telephone line or other device as it could present a fire hazard.

Default Actions

The default action each pedal depends on the keyboard it is connected to. The most popular action is “Keypad Shift”: Press and

hold the pedal to temporarily shift the keyboard to the Keypad Layer to access embedded key actions like the numeric keypad.

Programming Custom Actions

Regardless of which model Advantage keyboard you are using, the Foot Pedal is programmed as if it were another key on the

keyboard. Use onboard remapping to assign an existing key action to the pedal or use pedals to trigger a macro. If you are

using an Advantage2 keyboard, you can use the SmartSet App or Direct Programming to assign special actions to the pedal.

Each pedal can be programmed to perform two unique actions: one in the Top Layer and one in the Keypad Layer.

Anchoring the Single Pedal

Single pedal users may find it useful anchored attach the included self-adhesive hook & loop square to keep the pedal in one

spot. If you are working on carpet, just use the “hook” side attached to the bottom of the foot switch.
