IMPORTANT SAFETY
INSTRUCTIONS
In this manual, on the labeling, and all other
information provided with this product:
This is the safety alert
symbol. It is used to alert
you to potential personal
injury hazards. Obey all
safety messages that
follow this symbol to avoid
possible injury or death.
DANGER indicates
a hazardous
situation which, if not
avoided, will result in death or
serious injury.
WARNING
indicates a

READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL INSTRUCTIONS
When using electrical Umbrella Lights, safety
precautions should always be followed including
the following:
Work Area Safety
Keep work area clean and well a.
lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite
accidents.
Keep children and bystanders b.
away while operating this product.
Distractions can cause you to lose
control.
Electrical Safety
Stay alert, watch what you are 1.
doing and use common sense when
operating the Umbrella Light. Do
not use this product while you
are tired or under the inuence of
drugs, alcohol or medication. A
moment of inattention while operating
the Umbrella Light may result in
serious personal injury.
Use safety equipment. 2. Always wear
ANSI approved eye protection
during set-up.
Recharge only with the charger 3.
specied by the manufacturer. A
charger that is suitable for one type of
battery pack may create a risk of re
when used with another battery pack.
Page 3SKU 98154 For technical questions, please call 1-800-444-3353.
Use the Umbrella Light only with 4.
specically designated batteries. Use
of any other battery packs may create
a risk of injury and re.
When battery pack is not in use, keep 5.
it away from other metal objects, like
paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws
or other small metal objects, that can
make a connection from one terminal
to another. Shorting the battery
terminals together may cause burns
or a re.
Ni-Cd batteries must be recycled or 6.
disposed of properly. Install Ni-Cd
batteries only. Do not incinerate.
Read manual before charging. Input
Voltage 7.5 V/600 mA. Charging
room temperature must be between
50° to 104° F.
Under abusive conditions, liquid 7.
may be ejected from the battery;
avoid contact. If contact accidentally
occurs, ush with water. If liquid
contacts eyes, additionally seek
medical help. Liquid ejected from the
battery may cause irritation or burns.
The battery charger gets hot during 8.
use. The charger’s heat can build
up to unsafe levels and create a re
hazard if it does not receive adequate
ventilation, due to an electrical fault,
or if it is used in a hot environment.
Do not place the charger on a
ammable surface. Do not obstruct
any vents on the charger. Especially
avoid placing the charger on
carpets and rugs; they are not only
ammable, but they also obstruct
vents under the charger. Place
the charger on a stable, solid,
nonammable surface (such as a
stable metal workbench or concrete
oor) at least 1 foot away from all
ammable objects, such as drapes
or walls. Keep a re extinguisher
and a smoke detector in the area.
Frequently monitor the charger and
battery during use.
Do not charge batteries longer than 8 9.
hours.
This product is not a toy. Keep it out 10.
of reach of children.
People with pacemakers should 11.
consult their physician(s) before
use. Electromagnetic elds in close
proximity to heart pacemaker could
cause pacemaker interference or
pacemaker failure. In addition,
people with pacemakers should:
Avoid operating alone.
• Do not use with power switch locked
on.
• Properly maintain and inspect to
avoid electrical shock.
Any power cord must be properly
grounded. Ground Fault Circuit
Interrupter (GFCI) should also be
implemented – it prevents sustained
electrical shock.
Service
Have your power tool serviced by a.
a qualied repair person using
only identical replacement parts.
This will ensure that the safety of the
power tool is maintained.
General Safety
Do not use Umbrella Light for other 1.
than intended use.
Inspect before use. Do not use 2.
if parts are loose or damaged.
Maintain labels and nameplates on

important safety information. If
unreadable or missing, contact
Harbor Freight Tools for a
replacement.
Do not store anything other than 3.
the manufacturer’s recommended
accessories in this unit when not in
use.

Light.
Avoid touching the LED’s as they 5.
may become hot during operation.
Keep dry and do not submerge under
water.
The warnings, precautions, and 6.
instructions discussed in this
instruction manual cannot cover all
possible conditions and situations
that may occur. It must be understood
by the operator that common sense
and caution are factors which cannot
be built into this product, but must be
supplied by the operator.

INSTRUCTIONS.
GROUNDING
TO PREVENT
ELECTRIC SHOCK
AND DEATH FROM
INCORRECT GROUNDING
WIRE CONNECTION:
Check with a qualied
electrician if you are in doubt
as to whether the outlet is
properly grounded. Do not
modify the power cord plug
provided with this product.
Never remove the grounding
prong from the plug. Do not
use this product if the power
cord or plug is damaged. If
damaged, have it repaired by
a service facility before use. If
the plug will not t the outlet,
have a proper outlet installed
by a qualied electrician.
Grounded Tools: Tools with Three
Prong Plugs
3-Prong Plug and Outlet
1. Tools marked with “Grounding
Required” have a three wire cord
and three prong grounding plug.
The plug must be connected to a
properly grounded outlet. If the tool
should electrically malfunction or
break down, grounding provides a
low resistance path to carry electricity
Page 5SKU 98154 For technical questions, please call 1-800-444-3353.
away from the user, reducing the risk
of electric shock. (See 3-Prong Plug
and Outlet.)
The grounding prong in the plug is 2.
connected through the green wire
inside the cord to the grounding
system in the tool. The green wire
in the cord must be the only wire
connected to the tool’s grounding
system and must never be attached
to an electrically “live” terminal. (See
3-Prong Plug and Outlet.)
The tool must be plugged into an 3.
appropriate outlet, properly installed
and grounded in accordance with all
codes and ordinances. The plug and
outlet should look like those in the
preceding illustration. (See 3-Prong
Plug and Outlet.)
Double Insulated Tools: Tools
with Two Prong Plugs
Outlets for 2-Prong Plug
1. Tools marked “Double Insulated”
do not require grounding. They
have a special double insulation
system which satises OSHA
requirements and complies with the
applicable standards of Underwriters
Laboratories, Inc., the Canadian
Standard Association, and the
National Electrical Code. (See
Outlets for 2-Prong Plug.)
Double insulated tools may be used 2.
in either of the 120 volt outlets shown
in the preceding illustration. (See
Outlets for 2-Prong Plug.)
Extension Cords
Grounded1. tools require a three wire
extension cord. Double Insulated
tools can use either a two or three
wire extension cord.
As the distance from the supply 2.
outlet increases, you must use a
heavier gauge extension cord. Using
extension cords with inadequately
sized wire causes a serious drop in
voltage, resulting in loss of power and
possible tool damage.
(See Table A.) The smaller the
gauge number of the wire, the
greater the capacity of the cord. For
example, a 14 gauge cord can carry
a higher current than a 16 gauge
cord. (See Table A.)
When using more than one extension 3.
cord to make up the total length,
make sure each cord contains at
least the minimum wire size required.
(See Table A.)
If you are using one extension cord 4.
for more than one tool, add the
nameplate amperes and use the sum
to determine the required minimum
cord size. (See Table A.)
If you are using an extension cord 5.
outdoors, make sure it is marked with
the sufx “W-A” (“W” in Canada) to
indicate it is acceptable for outdoor
use.
Make sure the extension cord is 6.
properly wired and in good electrical
condition. Always replace a damaged

extension cord or have it repaired by
a qualied electrician before using it.
Protect the extension cords from 7.
sharp objects, excessive heat, and
damp or wet areas.
