4. MODE AND LOGIC OPERATION
4.1 Automatic mode:
These mode can be selected from the Remote Control by acting on the relative key as well as by pressing the
switch on the display card (in the latter case, only if the appliance was formerly in standby mode). In this program
the appliance working mode is selected automatically depending on the room temperature value monitored:
T°room < 17°C (heating) IDU maximum speed enabled;
17°C ≤ T°room < 19°C (heating) IDU medium speed enabled;;
19°C ≤ T°room < 21°C (heating) IDU minimum speed enabled;
21°C ≤ T°room ≤ 23°C (ventilation only) IDU minimum speed enabled;
23°C < T°room ≤ 25°C (cooling) IDU minimum speed enabled;
25°C < T°room ≤ 27°C (cooling) IDU medium speed enabled;
T°room > 27°C (cooling) IDU maximum speed enabled;
4.2 Cooling mode:
In this mode, the air conditioner dehumidifies and cools the room. Before carrying out the operation, set the
required temperature and choose the fan speed (refer to the related paragraphs). After having activated this run
mode, the compressor will start running after 3 minutes at the most and the unit will begin to emit cold air; if the
temperature is below the set temperature the compressor doesn’t start. Only at first start-up from power off, if
T°room is higher than set, T°room is forced by IDU board to 45°C in order to force the compressor to the
maximum frequency for 1 minute. When time ends, the compressor continues to work in according to procedure
described below (frequency is recalculated every 3 minutes):
T°room ≥ T°set +3°C MAXIMUM frequency;
T°set +3°C > T°room. ≥ T°set +1°C MODULATED frequency;
T°set -1°C ≤ T°room. ≤ T°set +1°C MINIMUM frequency;
T°room ≤ T°set-1°C compressor OFF;
The IDU FAN motor works at selected speed (MIN, MED or MAX depending on Remote Control setting). In case
automatic speed mode is enabled, IDU FAN speed works in this way (in case T°room changes instead, the automatic
speed waits at least 3 min. working at the same speed before changing):
T°room. ≤ T°set+1°C MINIMUM speed;
T°set +1°C < T°room. ≤ T°set +3°C MEDIUM speed;
T°room. > T°set+3°C MAXIMUM speed;
4.3 Heating mode (heating pump only):
First set the desired temperature and fan speed. After three minutes the compressor should start and the air
conditioner starts heating the room. The start of the compressor can be checked through the lighting of the green
LED located on the console. It’s only available for models with heat pump (HP). This operation must be preceded by
the setting of desired temperature and fan speed selection. Only at first start-up from power off, if T°set deviates
± 1°C from the value measured in, the temperature of the room is forced to 5°C in order to force the compressor
frequency for a maximum interval of 1 minute. When time ends, the compressor continues to work in according to
procedure described below where T°camb. corresponds to environment temperature correction on the location of
the high/low unit (see cap.6):
T°room ≤ (T°set+T°camb) -3°C MAXIMUM frequency;
(T°set+T°camb) -3°C < T°room ≤ (T°set+T°camb) -1°C MODULATED frequency;
(T°set+T°camb) -1°C < T°room. ≤ (T°set+T°camb) +1°C MINIMUM frequency;
T°room. > (T°set+T°camb) +1°C compressor OFF;
The frequency is recalculated and modified as necessary at intervals of 3 minutes. The speed of the internal fan
works, if not specifically set, in accord the temperature of the internal heat-exchanger, in particular:
T°int. heat-exchanger < 31°C IDU fan and air-sweep stop to prevent cold air;
31°C ≤ T°int. heat-exchanger ≤ 38°C IDU fan starts working SUPER-LOW speed;
T°int. heat-exchanger > 38°C IDU fan and air-sweep operate in according with Remote Control;
4.3.1. Defrost:
DEFROST is enabled after 20 minutes of the compressor start to the occurrence of any of these conditions:
T°out - T°ext. heat-exchanger > 7°C and T°out > 5°C (for next 5 minutes);
T°out - T°ext. heat-exchanger > 15°C and -1°C < T°out ≤ 5°C (for next 2 minutes);
T°out - T°ext. heat-exchanger > 8°C and -8°C < T°out ≤ -1°C (for next 2 minutes);
T°out - T°ext. heat-exchanger > 7°C and T°out ≤ 8°C (for next 5 minutes);
T°est. exchanger ≤ -8°C and defrost function isn’t activated in the previous 120 minutes;
The compressor reduces the frequency to 38 Hz and then work at least for 28 sec. after which the outdoor fan is
turned off. After another 2 sec. also 4-ways valve is disabled, so the compressor increases the frequency to the
limit of 60 Hz. The defrost ends when the T°ext. heat-exchanger ≥ 12 ° C or 10 minutes after it.
In particular the end of the defrosting expects to decrease the frequency to 38 Hz followed by a stage at a constant
frequency of 28 sec. Finally 2 sec. to enable 4-way valve and further 5 sec. before that frequency starts to
increase.
4.4 Dehumidify only mode:
When used in this mode, the air conditioner only eliminates the humidity in the room. In this mode, both T°room
and fan speed settings are ignored, which correspond to minimum.
After setting the desired temperature, T°room is constantly monitored by software and it is compared with T°set.
Depending on the difference between these two temperature, compressor is turned ON/OFF in according to values
described below:
T°room - T°set <-2°C compressor OFF;
T°room – T°set > 1°C compressor ON;
The compressor (ON) switches one stage to the max frequency for 6 min. and one at a minimum for 10 min.
4.5 Fan mode:
In this mode the air conditioner does not perform any action with regard to temperature and air humidity in the
room. At this stage you can select the fan speed and air sweep. All other outputs are switched off and only DIRTY
FILTER alarm (FS) is enabled.
4.6 ECO key:
Energy saving function is activated through this button (T2) and the switching on of the ECO icon remote control on
the display, which automatically optimizes machine running. These savings are guaranteed by imposing a current
limit (3.8 A) lower than expected for the IPM module (including accessories), so varying in proportion to the
frequency of the compressor.
4.7 Night well-being mode:
This mode can be selected from the remote control by acting on the relative key and can only be used in
conjunction with cooling and heating mode.
In cooling mode, when the night mode is enabled, both the internal and external fans are forced to run at minimum
speed and the T°set is automatically increased by 1°C after 1 hour and by a further 1°C after 2 hours.
In heating mode when the night mode is enabled, the internal fan is forced to minimum speed, external fan is
forced to medium speed and the T°set is automatically decreased by 1°C after 1 hour and by a further 1°C after 2
hours.
The night well-being mode button may be disabled at any time (ideally when you wake up in the morning) by
pressing button T3 again; at this stage the temperature and fan speed settings made prior to starting Night well-
being comes back into effect.
4.8 AUTORESTART:
In case of black-out from standby mode, when the AC power comes back, the compressor activation is immediately
allowed. In case of black-out during fan/heating/cooling/dehumidify mode, when the AC power comes back, the
compressor activation delayed is 3 minutes.
5. FREQUENCY RESTRICTION
When there’s no alarm activated, IPM red led blinks 1s ON and 5s OFF (if compressor running) or it is always OFF (if
compressor is not running). This led is not collocated on the display but it’s situated on the IPM module, near the
sensors. Otherwise, when the compressor is not working properly can view the following reports:

5.1 Protection against compressor discharge temperature too high:
The problem is indicated by the sequence of 5 blinks of red light of IPM. Specifically, given as a limit value of
temperature 95 ° C is that:
T°discharge ≤ 87°C there’s no frequency limitation;
88°C < T°discharge < 92°C the rate of frequency grow is limited;
93°C ≤ T°discharge ≤ 95°C the frequency stops growing;
T°discharge > 96°C the frequency starts going down;
In case of the compressor is running and T° dischar ge overtakes the
limit, the compressor frequency is reduced to the minimum
(compressor frequency reduction). The compressor frequency
reduction starts 2 minutes after that the limit was overtaken.
In case of air-conditioner is turned on with T°discharge on the limit, compressor starts to work. The frequency is
limited to the first compressor frequency target calculated by IPM MCU. Otherwise, it T°discharge is over the limit,
frequency grows to the first compressor frequency target calculated by IPM MCU and, then, it reduces to minimum.
5.1 Protection against external heat-exchanger temperature too high:
When the protection is activated the IPM red led blinks 3 times; the limit reference in this case is 65°C and the
frequency restriction are:
T°ext. eat-exchanger ≤ 57°C there’s no frequency limitation;
58°C < T°ext. heat-exchanger < 62°C the rate of frequency grow is limited;
63°C ≤ T°ext. heat-exchanger ≤ 65°C the frequency stops growing;
T°ext. heat-exchanger > 66°C the frequency starts going down;
5.2 Protection against internal heat-exchanger temperature too high:
Also for the reporting of the internal exchanger temperature too high the IPM red led blinks 3 times. Limit value is
55°C for which apply the following considerations:
T°int. heat-exchanger ≤ 47°C there’s no frequency limitation;
48°C < T°int. heat-exchanger < 52°C the rate of frequency grow is limited;
53°C ≤ T°int. heat-exchanger ≤ 55°C the frequency stops growing;
T°int. heat-exchanger > 56°C the frequency starts going down;
5.3 Protection against internal heat-exchanger temperature too low:
This signal is communicated by 6 blinks red LED (HP mode); the temperature limit is 2°C and considerations are:
T°int. heat-exchanger ≥ 7°C there’s no frequency limitation;
4°C < T°int. heat-exchanger < 6°C the rate of frequency grow is limited;
3°C ≤ T°int. heat-exchanger ≤ 2°C the frequency stops growing;
T°int. heat-exchanger < 1°C the frequency starts going down;
6. TOP/BOTTOM INSTALLATION CONFIGURATION
This unit may be installed either at the bottom of the wall (adjacent to the floor) or at the top (adjacent to the
ceiling). The air jet can be modified to optimize air distribution and room well-being by changing the position of
the air outlet flap and setting an appropriate temperature correction "T°camb." amounted to +3°C (it is not
possible to separate two operations). Figure 1 refers to a machine configured for installation near the floor in
which air flows upwards. The same configuration may also be used to install the unit near the ceiling with the
cooling function. This permits to increase the air flow inside the room (Coanda effect). Figure 2 refers to a machine
configured for installation near the ceiling in which air flows downwards.
After having carried out the mechanical operations to change the air outlet flap, configure the machine's control
electronics follows these points:
- connect the power supply line;
- ensure the machine is in standby;
- hold down the micro-button (H) until an audible signal starts ringing;
- CEILING CONFIGURATION: press the micro-button (H) to select yellow LED C;
- FLOOR CONFIGURATION: press the micro-button ( H) to select green LED D;
- release the micro-button;
- wait a few seconds until the standby configuration is restored ;
7. RATING MODE
In cooling mode should be set by remote control, the speed of the fan and internal temperature of 18°C; then press
for 6 times the button on the remote night (T3). After 2 consecutive beeps the compressor will start to operate at a
frequency of 43 Hz. Will be activated so that the two fans work at full speed.
To end the procedure, press standby button or automatically cease after 5 hours from setting. The same goes for
the heating mode, the only difference is to set a temperature of 30°C corresponding to an operating frequency
compressor 50Hz.
8. DIAGNOSTIC ALARMS
All alarms are reported in table. They reset automatically after 3 minutes after the alert or, alternatively, you can
turn off the machine and wait just 30 seconds. ONLY for IPM alarms, if they are activated more than 4 times by 15
minutes, the rehabilitation automatic function is turned off. Both types of alarm functions do not require as self-
diagnosis because are displayed in real time.

8.1 External heat-exchanger temperature too high (HTE):
The alarm occurs when the internal heat-exchanger temperature grows more than 70°C. The HTI alarm is cancelled
when the internal heat-exchanger temperature reduces below than 60°C. Possible causes are:
- Presence of obstructions near the inlet and outlet pipes;
- Obstructions inside the machine;
- Excessive dirt accumulated on the outdoor heat-exchanger;
- Malfunction ODU fan
- High external air temperature
8.2 Condensate max level alarm (OF):
In case of condensate max level switch opens continuously for at least 1minute, the air-conditioner stops working
(all the outputs are switched off, air-sweep and air-inlet closes). The state of alarm appears on the display. The
alarm is disabled in fan mode or standby mode. The causes that may have caused the alarm activation are:
- Lock or break the condensate pump;
- Malfunction of the float activate pump;
- Burning of the power transformer pump;
8.3 Internal heat exchanger temperature too low (LT):
The LT alarm occurs when the compressor is running, and the internal heat exchanger temperature is below -2°C
for more than 5 minutes, continuously. The alarm is cancelled when the internal heat-exchanger temperature
grows beyond 7°C. The causes that may have caused the alarm activation are:
- Presence of obstructions near the inlet and outlet pipes;
- Obstructions inside the machine;
- Excessive dirt accumulated on the indoor heat exchanger;
- Malfunction IDU fan
- Low external air temperature
8.4 Internal heat exchanger temperature too high (HTI):
The HTI alarm occurs when the internal heat-exchanger temperature grows more than 65°C and it is cancelled
when the internal heat-exchanger temperature reduces below than 42°C. The causes may be:
- internal air filter clogged.
- Internal heat-exchanger dirty
- Indoor air fan blocked or slowed.
- Suction screen clogged.
- Outside air temperature is too high. The air conditioner can’t operate in heating with temperatures above 25°C.
- Indoor air temperature too high due to excessive layers in the room where the machine is installed.
8.5 Discharge temperature too high
The maximum threshold beyond which the alarm is activated is 110 ° C but there isn’t a lower limit temperature
threshold for the automatic disabling of the alarm.
9. MANAGEMENT AND CONDENSATE DRAIN
The drain pump is activated only when the compressor is ON and micro-switch (pump running) closed. A second
switch operated by another float (high water), it shall stop the machine if it remains open for more than 60
seconds. If the contacts remain closed for more than a minute in fact, the shutter is powered (230 V) and discharge
water to a maximum interval of 3 minutes or until the switches are not open.
The shutter is normally scheduled to be closed in the state of standstill. In the heating mode (pump OFF) card
provides voltage electronic shutter to allow the discharge of water from the external heat-exchanger.
