I. Prindple of Operation
Youhavepurchaseda humidifierthat operatesonthe evaporativeprinciple.
It will providethe properrelative humidity(seeoperatinginstructions)all during
the heating season. It isvery possiblethat youhavequestionsconcerningwhat

benefitsfromit.Thisbookletisintendedtoanswerthesequestions.

caused bystagnantwater. Thisisthe mosteffective and leastexpensive
methodto disposeoftrouble-causing minerals.
Trouble-freeperformanceandminimummaintenanceare assured bythe
designfeatures ofthe humidifier. All unithousingpartsthat comein contact
with water arenon-metal andwill neverrust or corrode.Neither heatnor water
will affectthem undernormaloperatingconditions.
The evaporativemedia, designed especially for uniform, high evapora-
tion, and the Scale Control Insert also efficiently trap mineral deposits which
are oftenthe cause of damageto working parts in ordinary humidifiers. No
"white dust" can bedistributedthroughoutthe living quarters.Theevaporative
mediamustbe in good condition to assure high capacity trouble-free perform-
ance. It shouldbe changedannually.
Thegranular coating inthe bottomof the distributiontray is designedto
provideequal distributionofwater to eachof the openingsassuringan even
flow ofwater overthe evaporativemedia.Donot cleanthe mineralscale off the
bottomofthe water distributiontray atthe end ofthe humidification season.
Thescale provides an excellenttrack for the water to follow. This is actually
what we try to simulatewith the syntheticcoatingin the bottomofthetray. If
the coating is removed,it is not necessaryto purchasea new distribution tray.
Youcan accomplish the same uniform performance by applyinga small
amountof liquid dishsoapoverthe entire lower surface ofthe water distribu-
tion tray.Thiswill allow thewater toflow evenlythrough each ofthe openings.
