Introduction
This Safety Alert Symbol is used to call attention
to items or operations which may be dangerous
to those operating or working with this equipment.
The symbol can be found throughout this manual
and on the unit. Please read these warnings and cautions,
along with all decals, carefully before attempting to operate
the unit. Make sure every individual who operates or works
with this equipment is familiar with all safety precautions.

Safety Precautions
LETHAL EXHAUST GAS: An internal
combustion engine discharges carbon
monoxide, a poisonous, odorless, invisible
gas. Death or serious illness may result if
inhaled. Operate only in a properly ventilated
area. NEVER OPERATE IN A CONFINED
AREA!
DANGEROUS FUELS: Use extreme caution
when storing, handling and using fuels as they
are highly volatile and explosive in vapor
state. Do not add fuel while engine is running.
Stop and cool the engine before adding fuel.
DO NOT SMOKE!
SAFETY GUARDS: It is the owner's
responsibility to ensure that all guards and
shields are in place and in working order.
IGNITION SYSTEMS: Breakerless, magneto,
and battery ignition systems can cause severe
electrical shocks. Avoid contacting these units
or their wiring.
SAFE DRESS: Do not wear loose clothing,
rings, wristwatches, etc. near machinery.
NOISE PROTECTION: Wear OSHA specified
hearing protection devices.
EYE PROTECTION: Wear OSHA specified
eye shields, safety glasses, and sweat bands.
FOOT PROTECTION: Wear OSHA specified
steel-tipped safety shoes.
HEAD PROTECTION: Wear OSHA specified
safety helmets.
OPERATOR: Keep children and bystanders
off and away from the equipment.
DUST PROTECTION: Machining, crushing or
handling of stone, concrete, masonry, metal
and other materials may generate dust, mist
and fumes containing chemicals such as silica
known to cause serious or fatal injury or illness such as
respiratory disease, silicosis, cancer, birth defects, or other
reproductive harm.
Control dust, mist and fumes at the source where possible.
Water should be used to control dust whenever feasible.
• Use good work practices and follow the recommendations
of the manufacture, OSHA/NIOSH and other occupational
trade associations.
• When hazards cannot be eliminated the operator and any
bystanders should always wear a OSHA specified respirator
for materials being handled.

OPERATION
Introduction
MBW equipment is intended for use in very severe
applications. They are powered by four cycle engines and
are available in different sizes and a selection of engines.
This parts manual contains only standard parts. Variations
of these parts as well as other special parts are not included.
Contact your local MBW distributor for assistance in
identifying parts not included in this manual.
Before Starting and Operating
REMEMBER! It is the owner’s responsibility to
communicate information on the safe use and proper
operation of this unit to the operators.
Review ALL of the Safety Precautions listed on page 1 of
this manual.
Inspect machine to make sure all guards and covers are
in place and all hardware is tight. All safety decals are in
place and legible.
Familiarize yourself with the operation of the machine
and confirm that all controls function properly. See the
Operating section of this manual for proper control
functions.
Know how to STOP the machine in case of an
emergency.
Make sure hands, feet, and clothing are at a safe
distance from any moving parts.
HYDRAULIC OIL LEVEL - Check the hydraulic oil. The
oil level should be up to the bottom of the screen inside
of fill the tube.
WARNING
HIGH PRESSURE, SKIN INJECTION HAZARD
HYDRAULIC LEAKS - Do not use hands or any portion
of the body to check for hydraulic oil leaks. Hydraulic oil
may be under high pressure and could get injected under
the skin causing infections or injury. Use cardboard or
look for oily surfaces to check for leaks.
ENGINE OIL LEVEL - Check the oil level in the engine.
For more information see “Lubrication” under the
respective engine’s “Owner’s Manual” or the
Maintenance section of this manual.
AIR CLEANER - Check to ensure element is in good
condition and properly installed.
FUEL SUPPLY - The engines on MBW equipment
require an automotive grade of clean, fresh, unleaded
gasoline.
Check intended travel path to ensure it does not exceed
the maximum permissible grade of 10%. Also check for
loose material, soft spots or any conditions that may
cause the buggy to lose control or tip over.
Maximum Grade for Travel
1. The maximum allowable grade for travel is 10% in
both front to back and side to side.
2. To calculate grade divide the vertical rise by the
horizontal run, then multiply by 100. For example if
you have a rise of 2 feet over a run of 21 feet the
grade calculation is: (2 ÷ 21) X 100 = 9.5 Grade. This
grade is safe to travel because 9.5 is less than 10.
Starting Engine
1. Check parking brake. If not set, engage brake.
2. Check speed control on right handle. Speed control
must move freely and return to the open position
when released. If speed control does not move freely
do not start engine until it is repaired.
3. Open fuel valve.
4. Set throttle to idle.
5. Choke engine if necessary (you may not need to
choke a warm engine).
6. Turn engine switch to “ON”.
7. Pull starter rope repeatedly until engine starts. For
electric start models rotate key to the start position
until engine starts then release the key.
8. Move choke lever to open position.
9. Allow engine to warm up for one or two minutes.
Operating
1. Steering: The handle bar is attached to the rear
wheels of the unit. Rotating the handle bars clockwise

steers the unit to the left. Rotating the handle bars
counterclockwise steers the unit to the right.
2. Speed Control: The travel speed control lever is
located on the right handle bar. Squeeze the lever to
increase the travel speed of the buggy. Release the
lever and the machine will stop.
WARNING
Avoid sudden starts, stops and direction
changes.
3. Travel Direction Control: The direction control has
(3) positions. Push the lever forward to travel forward.
The center position is neutral. Pull the lever back to
travel in reverse.
4. Hand Parking Brake: The hand brake lever
activates the parking brake on the front tires. Move
the lever to the horizontal position to engage the
brake. Move the lever to the vertical position to
disengage the brake.
5. Foot Parking Brake: Push the foot pedal down to
activate the foot brake. Release the foot pedal to
deactivate the brake.
6. Hand Dump Control: Push the dump handle forward
to activate the hydraulic bucket dump. Pull back on
handle to return the bucket to the travel position.
7. Foot Dump Control: Rock the foot dump pedal
forward to dump the bucket. Rock the foot pedal back
to return the bucket to the travel position.
8. Mounting & Dismounting Buggy: Be sure the
buggy is completely stopped and in the neutral
position with the parking brake set before mounting or
dismounting the machine.
9. Always use three points of contact when mounting
and dismounting the machine. Three points of
contact means that three of four arms and legs are in
contact with the machine when mounting or
dismounting.
10. Never use control levers or foot controls as handles
or steps when mounting or dismounting.
11. Clean excess dirt & debris off of shoes before
mounting the buggy. Keep riding platform clean and
free of debris to assure secure footing when
operating the machine.
12. When traveling with a loaded bucket on a slope the
bucket must be on the uphill end and the operator on
the downhill end of the machine.
WARNING
DO NOT travel on a slope with the bucket facing
downhill.
13. When traveling with an unloaded bucket on a slope
the bucket must be on the downhill end and the
operator on the uphill end of the machine.
14. Avoid making sudden starts, stops or direction
changes.
15. DO NOT allow others to ride on the machine.
16. DO NOT approach personnel standing in front of a
fixed object.
17. Keep all personnel clear of machine while travelling.
18. Keep both hands on the handle bar during travel.
19. When traveling on uneven or rough terrain raise and
secure the riding stand and walk behind the machine.
Do not exceed Creep Speed of 1/4 of maximum
speed approximately 1.4 mph. ALWAYS use good
judgment when determining a safe travel speed.
20. Ensure the buggy is completely stopped and the
parking brake is set before loading or unloading the
bucket.
21. All other personnel to stand clear of the buggy when
loading or unloading.
WARNING
Do not dump buggy when facing downhill.
22. Know the load capacity of your machine. DO NOT
exceed the capacity of the machine or the intended
travel path of the machine. If there is any questions of
overloading reduce the load and take more smaller
loads.
WARNING
Stay clear of dump mechanism between bucket
and chassis.
23. If the buggy operator is unable to see the load
placement point always use a signal person.
24. DO NOT dump buggy toward other personnel.
Stopping Engine
1. Come to a full stop and move throttle to idle position.
2. Set the parking brake.
3. Let engine idle for one or two minutes.
4. Turn switch on engine to “STOP” position.
5. Cycle the hydraulic controls to relieve residual
pressure.
6. Turn off fuel valve and remove ignition key on electric
start models.
7. If parking on an incline block wheels.
8. If the machine will be exposed to freezing conditions
place the bucket in the dump position.

WARNING
Always stop the engine before:
Adding fuel, leaving the equipment unattended
for any amount of time or before making any
repairs or adjustments to the machine.
Lifting and Transport
1. Make sure the bucket is completely lowered.
2. When loading use only properly rated ramps to avoid
damaging the machine or loading equipment.
3. Set parking brake and make sure the fuel is turned off
and key is removed for electric start models.
4. Single Point Lifting: When lifting machine with the
single point lift ring the bucket must be in the dumped
position and both lift ring support arms must be
attached with retaining rings as shown.
5. Fork Lift Loading: The buggy can be loaded from
either side using the fork lift pockets provided
between the front and back wheels.
6. Secure machine with properly sized tie-downs at
specified attachment points.
7. When transporting buggy, know overall height to
avoid contacting overhead obstructions.

MAINTENANCE
WARNING
Always exercise the stopping procedure before
servicing or lubricating the unit.
After servicing the unit, replace and fasten all
guards, shields, and covers to their original
positions before resuming operation.
CAUTION
Always verify fluid levels and check for leaks after
changing fluids.
Do not drain oil onto ground, into open streams,
or down sewage drains.
Maintenance Schedule
1. Check all hardware after the first 5 hours of use, then follow the maintenance schedule.
2. Change hydraulic oil filter after the first 10 hours of use, then follow the maintenance schedule.

Refer to the engine Owner’s Manual for maintenance
intervals and procedures.
Cleaning Buggy
Remove any build up of concrete, dirt and debris on
operator’s platform and chassis.
Engine Speed
1. Engine speed is set to 3600 rpm. Do not tamper with
the governor setting. The governor establishes safe
operating limits which must not be exceeded.
2. The engine idle speed should be set from 1200 to
1800 rpm.
3. Refer to the engine Owner’s Manual for procedure on
setting idle and operating speeds.
Chassis Lubrication
1. Lubricate buggy with a good grade of grease each
day of operation at all point listed below.
(2) Fittings, top and bottom on dump cylinder,
(4) Fittings on bucket pivot blocks. Refer to page - # -
Brake Adjustment
1. Place in the engaged position. If you are able to move
the buggy the brake needs to be adjusted.
2. To adjust the brake turn the knob on the end of the
brake lever clockwise to tighten the brake. Refer to
page - # -

3. When the brake is adjusted correctly it will take
considerable pressure to move the lever over center
to the engaged position. With the parking brake
engaged you should not be able to move the buggy.

SERVICE
Assembly and disassembly should be performed by a
service technician who has been factory trained on MBW
equipment. The unit should be clean and free of debris.
Pressure washing before disassembly is recommended.
Prior to assembly, wash all parts in a suitable cleaner or
solvent.
Check moving parts for wear and failure. Refer to the
Replacement Parts section in this manual for tolerance
and replacement cycles.
All shafts and housings should be oiled prior to pressing
bearings. Also, ensure that the bearings are pressed
square and are seated properly.
All gaskets and seals should be replaced after any
disassembly.
