The Aware Clock is designed to be perfectly safe to install
and use. However, please take care to observe:
Warning: To measure the energy usage a current clamp
must be tted to a live phase cable connecting your home
with the grid. Please take care to check the electrical cable
for any sign of damage or exposed wiring and if in any doubt
consult a qualied electrician for advice before any attempt
is made to t the current clamp to the cable.

Aware Clock consists of two different parts. The rst is the
house, which presents your power consumption. The intuitive
idiom in the display makes it very easy to apprehend the uctua-
tions in energy consumption. It is also easy to identify how
individual sources of current affect the usage.
The second part is the Wireless sensor unit which should be
applied to the power supply you wish to read. The preferred loca-
tion is on the main power cable to your electric cabinet, which will
enable you to monitor your overall energy consumption.
A good location for the Wireless sensor unit is in connection
to the electric cabinet and the main current. This will enable your
reading to comprise the total energy consumption in your home.
The clamp should be applied around the cable, which is red, or in
some cases brown. Remember to t the batteries supplied!
You can position the house wherever you want it. A popular
location is in the living room or in the kitchen, rooms which are
frequently occupied, thereby making it easy to view the graphs
on the display. The house is connected to the closest source of
current and is then ready for the simple initial settings.
Setting up the house
6. 7.
Before you can start taking readings you
need to make some basic settings. Follow the
instructions in the display. It takes no time.

Aware Clock has been designed in order to
simply and accessibly get an idea of your own
energy consumption, without needing to analyse
gures and diagrams (even though obviously
this is also possible).
Aware Clock shows what your actual consumption
is in an intuitive and highly visual way. It is easy to
see and understand which electrical machines are
the major energy guzzlers.
With a simple push of a button you can change
between different time intervals; now, the most
recent minutes, the most recent hours, the most
recent days, the most recent weeks, the most
recent months and the most recent years. Select
the interval you feel is of the most interest and
view your energy consumption over the period.

This display mode is the only one with gures. It is quite
simply your precise consumption at any particular moment.
The information is updated every ve seconds. If a line is dis-
played instead of gures, there is no contact with the sensor.
Check the Q&A section for assistance.
In this mode you can view your consumption in the last
minute. In the background are the two preceding minutes in
darker shades of green, to make it easy to be able to see the
changes. For example, using the microwave or perhaps an
iron, gives a clear reading in this display mode.
In this mode you can analyse the last three hours consumption.
The last hour is at the top, in light green. The two preceding hours
are located in the layers behind and darker green. It is ideal if you
want to see how, for example, the washing machine, dishwasher or
oven is affecting consumption.
If you really want to see how the seasons affect energy
consumption in your home, the monthly display is perfect. You
can view the last three 4-week periods on top of each other
here, and clearly identify the changes from month to month.
Twenty-four hour consumption is presented in the 24-hour mode
and can be of interest, for example, when major temperature changes
occur outdoors that can affect how much heat needs to be produced in
order to keep the indoor temperature stable. As with all the other display
modes, you can also view the last three days on top of each other here.
The full year mode gives you a superb overview of the variation
in consumption throughout the year. You can see here how seasonal
uctuations have affected your energy consumption, but also the re-
sults of any changes you have made to reduce energy consumption.

Interesting piece of kit that will pro-
voke enjoyable discussions when my
friends visit me. Especially entertaining
to show what it looks like when you’re
boiling the kettle for a cup of tea.
It’s easy to see if I have forgotten
to turn off my computer before I go
to school. I leave home last. Some-
times I also discover that mum and
dad have been careless!
I particularly like the plain view with
gures, so that I can tell precisely
what different appliances are using.
I am delighted with the attrac-
tive design and the excellent
graphics that our consumption
produces. It feels like a living
picture!
