Pro-Ject Audio Systems Speed Box DS Strobo permits electronic speed change of record players with 230V AC motor between 33 and 45 rpm and also permits the replay of shellac records by allowing 78 rpm with an appropriate pulley and cartridge. The replay speed can be increased or decreased in 40 steps of 0,2% each respectively. It stores the last setting of speed including its adjustment after switch to standby. With Pro-Ject Strobe-it or a similar product it is possible to check speed of turntable using supplied LED with cable.

Dear music lover,
thank you for purchasing a Speed Box DS Strobo from Pro-Ject Audio Systems. The unit permits electronic
speed change of record players with 230V AC motor between 33 and 45 rpm and also permits the replay of
shellac records by allowing 78 rpm with an appropriate pulley and cartridge. The replay speed can be
increased or decreased in 40 steps of 0,2% each respectively.
In order to achieve maximum performance and reliability you should study these instructions for use carefully.

Important notice.
Safety instructions
AC outlet voltages vary from country to country. Before connecting to the mains, make sure that the
voltage in your area meets the voltage requirements printed on the power supply.
The power supply is used to connect and disconnect the unit from the mains. Make sure that the power
supply is easily accessible at all times. Never handle the device, the power supply while your hands are
wet or damp.
Avoid letting liquids enter the device or the power supply. Never place any item containing liquid,
such as a flower vase on or near the device. Never spill any liquid on the device or the power supply.
Never place any naked flame sources, such as lighted candles on or near the device. The product shall not
be used in damp or wet locations, next to a bathtub, sink, swimming pool or any other similar conditions.
Connecting the record player
Connect turntable AC plug to the Output socket (only 50Hz models to Output ~230V 3W) to the Speed Box
DS Strobo.
Make all connections whilst the Speed Box is disconnected from the power supply.
Never use any other power supply than the one supplied with the unit.
Die Speed Box DS Strobo is intended to be used with turntables with AC motor and power surge up
to 3W AC power (~230V/13mA).
Turntables that use a DC power supply can not be used with Speed Box DS Strobo.
When using Speed Box DS Strobo with turntables from other manufacturers, make sure that the
turntable is equipped with both an AC moitor and a Euro AC plug is used.

Mains power connection
The Speed Box DS Strobo is supplied with a power supply suitable for your country's mains supply. Check the
label before connecting to ensure compliance with the mains rating in your house. Connect the low voltage
plug from the power supply to the socket Power 18V before connecting the power supply to the mains.
Front panel controls
To switch on from standby or to standby
The push button on the left side of the front panel turns the unit on or back into standby. The blue LED above
the stand-by push button shows that the unit is switched on. LED blinks during start-up period and also
during increasing of speed.
It´s not possible to switch the unit to standby when LED blinks.
Speed selection
The belt must be on the smaller diameter part of the motor pulley for 33 and 45 rpm. and on the
larger for 78rpm, if an appropriate SB Pulley is used.
Press the button on the right side in the middle to switch between speeds 33, 45 and 78 rpm. The selected
speed is indicated by LED´s.
Pitch control
Repeatedly pressing the + or - buttons on the right side increases or decreases the replay speed in 40 steps
of 0,2% respectively. For return to standard factory setting press and hold speed selection button for about 3
seconds, reset is then confirmed by blink of speed indicator LED´s.
Pro-Ject Speed Box DS Strobo stores the last setting of speed including its adjustment after switch to
standby.
Stroboscope light accessory
With Pro-Ject Strobe-it or a similar product it is possible to check speed of turntable using supplied LED with
cable. Connect the cable to the socket Strobo on the rear panel. LED blinking frequency is exactly 50Hz and
Strobe it plate allows to check the speed and adjust it with pitch control.
