IMPORTANTES INSTRUCCIONES DE SEGURIDAD

Cuando se usa un aparato electrico, debe seguirse unas precauciones b&sicas, que vienen

incluidas a continuaci6n.

"Leer las instrucciones antes de usar la m&quina de coser."

PELIGRO - Para reducir el riesgo de una descarga electrica.

1. La maquina no debe dejarse nunca desatendida mientras este conectada. Desconectar la

m&quina de la red electrica inmediatamente despu6s de su uso y antes de limpiarla.

2. Desconectar la maquina de la red antes de cambiar la bombilla.

Colocar una bombilla del mismo tipo con una potencia de 15 Watios.

6. No usar al aire libre.

7. No usar mientras se esten utilizando productos de aerosol (spray) o en lugares donde se este.=

8. Para desconectar, girar el interruptor hasta la posici6n Off ("0") luego desconectar el enchufe

de la red.

9. No desconectar el enchufe tirando de! cable. Para desconectar, tirar de la clavija, no dot

14. Situar el interruptor principal de la m&quina en posici6n Off ("0") cuando se realice algSn

ajuste en el &rea de la aguja como enhebrar la aguja, cambiar la aguja, hilar ancolas, cambiar

el pie prensatelas y similares.

15. Desconectar siempre la m&quina de la red electrica cuando se retiren las tapas, para lubricar,

o cuando se reatice algSn otro tipo de ajuste mec&nico mencionado en el manual de

instrucciones.

SETTING UP YOUR MACHINE

1. Wipe off excess oil in the needle plate and bed areas.

2, FOOT CONTROL (1)

Push foot control plug into connector socket, and connect

the power line plug into power supply outlet,

3. POWER/LIGHT SWITCH (2)

Your machine will not operate unless the power/light switch

is turned on. This same switch controls both machine power

and sewing light.

When leaving the machine unattended, or servicing the

machine, remove the power line plug from supply outlet.

POLARIZED PLUGS CAUTION (USA only)

This product is equipped with a polarized alternating current

line plug (a plug having one blade wider than the other).

This plug wil! fit into the power outlet only one way. This is a

safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into

the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fail to

fit, contact an electrician to replace the obsolete outlet. Do

not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.

Use Yamamoto Electric, Model YC-482E with this sewing

machine.

MONTAJE DE SU MAQUINA

1. Asegurese de limpiar la zona de la placa de la aguja y la

LINT TRAY

To remove lint tray from storage position, pull it to the right

and lift up and off.

To set tray in working position (to collect waste material while

sewing), place pin (11 into upper hole(2) and latch notch (3)

into slot (4). To return to the storage positien, remove tray and

turn tray upwards in direction shown. Place pin (1) into lower

hole (5). Tab (6) will lock into notch (7).

In either position, push the tray to the left to lock in place.

CHANGING PRESSER FEET

Be sure needle is in the up position. Raise presser foot lever.

1. Push foot release lever (8) to remove the foot.

2. Place the desired foot on the needle plate aligning needle

holes.

3. Lower the presser foot lever and push foot release lever (8)

so that the foot holder snaps on the foot.

BATEA DE HILOS

Para quitar la batea de hilos de su posici6n, tirarla a la

derecha, levantarla y quitarla.

Para poner la batea en la posicion de trabajo (para coger

CHANGING NEEDLE

Raise needle bar to its highest point by turning hand wheel

towards you, but leave presser foot down. Loosen needle clamp

screw (1) to remove the needle, and place new needle with Flat

Side Away From You, into the needle bar as far as it will go,

and tighten screw.

MONTAR LA(S) AGUJA(S)

Levantar la barra de las agujas hasta su punto mas alto girando

el volante manual hacia usted, pero deje el pie prensatelas

abajo.

* Synthetic threads are recommended for ordinary overlocking. Polyester thread, for

example, is very useful for different types of fabric.

NOTE: Keep in mind that the lower and upper loopers will use about twice the amount of

thread as the needles. When purchasing thread for sewing, therefore, especially if it is an

unusual colour, you should buy sufficient for your requirements.

PREPARATION FOR THREADING

Your serger machine comes prethreaded. The instructions for

rethreading your machine are on pages 12 - 14. If you do not

wish to rethread at this time, please take a moment to review

these pages and examine the proper threading technique for

the machine.

Page 15 will show you how to start sewing with your machine.

THREAD GUIDE POLE

Pull up thread guide pole (1) to the highest point until you

hear it click. Place thread spools on pins.

Thread guides (2) of poles can hold larger thread spools on

the spool stand by pulling down the pole as illustrated.

The spool caps (1) hold smaller spools of thread in place.

SPOOL DISC AND SPOOL HOLDERS FOR

CONE SPOOLS

For large cone spools, place the spool discs (2) onto the spool

pins (3) of the machine. Place the rubber spool holders (4)

onto the pins. For larger cone spools, use the rubber spool

holders with the wide end at the top, and for smaller ones, use

the narrow end at the top. (See illustration)

SPOOL NETS

Polyester or bulky nylon threads become loose while

unwinding. To keep consistent feeding of such threads, utilize

spool net sleeving over the spool.

Place net (5) over spool, turn up bottom edges (6), and bring

thread through the top (7).

INDUSTRIAL

Para carretes conicos grandes, colocar las placas (2) sobre

ios pasadores de los carretes (3) de la m&quina. Colocar los

porla-carretes de gema (4) sobre los pasadores de los

carretes. Para carretes conicos grandes, usar los

porla-carretes de goma con el horde ancho en la parte

superior, y para los pequefios, usar los mismos porta-carretes

de goma pero con el borde estreche en la parle superior. (Ver

MALLAS DE CARRETES

Los carretes de hilo de poliester (filamento) o hilo de nylon

trabajan mayormente fuera del pasador del carrete durante el

cosido, provocando enredos o un avance irregular del hilo.

Para prevenir esto, usar la malla del carrete suministrada para

mantener el carrete en su lugar come se ve en la ilustraci6n.

Colocar tas mallas (5) sobre las carreteras, girar las orillas de

abajo (6) arriba y traer el hilo hasta el tope.

THREADING YOUR MACHINE

Wrong threading may cause skipped stitches,

breaking threads, or other problems.

A color coded diagram for threading the

machine is located inside the front cover. The

lower looper is indicated in purple, the upper

looper in blue, the right needle yellow and the

left needle green. The thread tension controls

are also labeled and color coded to assist in

properly threading the machine. Try to master

the correct threading before moving on to test

sewing.

Threading should be carried out in the

following sequence:

Lower Looper (purple)

Upper Looper (blue)

Right Needle (yellow) - Left Needle (green)

Note: Thread tension is released when you

pull the tension control knob.

THREADING LOWER LOOPER

Before rethreading the lower looper, remove

thread from the needle eyes first (if

necessary), then rethread the lower looper.

This will prevent tangling.

Open the front cover and the working table.

Raise needle to its highest position by turning

the hand wheel towards you.

Thread the lower looper as indicated 1 - 8.

Pass thread from back to front through pole

thread guide (1).

Feed the thread through the pre-tension thread

guide (2), as illustrated.

Pull thread around lower looper thread tension

control (3), as illustrated.

Thread the looper area of the machine following

the purple color coded thread guide 4 - 6.

Hook thread around guide (7) as indicated by

arrow.

Draw thread through lower looper eye (8), front

to back, pulling gently so it will slip into the slot

in looper.

• Pull about 4" (10 cm) of thread through looper

eye and draw it under the presser foot and to

the left over the needle plate.

NOTE: Use the tweezers provided to aid in

threading,

ENHEBRAR SU MAQUINA

Un mal enhebrado puede originar puntos

sueltos, rotura del hilos y otros preblemas.

La diagrama con clave colorado para

enhebrar la maquina est& dentro de tapa

frontal.

Ancora inferior se indica en pL_rpura, ancora

superior en azul, aguja derecha en amarillo, y

aguja izquierda en verde. Los controles de

tensi6n tarnbien est&n marcados y con clave

colorado para asistir en enhebrar la m&quina

pr6piamente. Probar et enhebrado correcto

antes de empezar o examinar de coser.

El enhebrado se debe realizar en la

secuencia come siguiente.

Ancora superior (azul)

Aguja derecha (amarillo) - Aguja izquierda

(verde)

Nota : La tensi6n dei hito se suelta cuando

tire el control de tensi6n.

ENHEBRAR EL ANCORA

INFERIOR

Antes de re-enhebrar el ancora inferior, quitar

el bile de ejo det aguja primero (si es

necesario), entonces re-enhebrar el ancora

inferior. Esta manera previene el enredo.

Abrir la tapa frontera y la mesa de trabajo.

Levantar la aguja a su posici6n m&s alta

girando el votante hacia usted.

Enhebrar el ancora inferior come indicade 1- 8.

• Pasar el hilo del parle posterior al frente a

trav@s de la portacarrete del hilo (1).

• Avanzar el hilo a trav@s de la guia del hilo de

pre4ension (2) come ilustrado.

• Tirar el hilo a trav@s de la control de tensi6n del

hilo de ancora interior (3) come ilustrado.

• Enganchar el bile sobre la guia (7) come la

flecha indica.

• Tirar el bile a trav@s del ojo ancora inferior (8),

del frente at parte posterior, giraedo

suavemente para que desliza en la ranura de

ancora.

• Tirar aproximadamente 4" (10cm) de bile a

trav@s del ojo de ancora y tirarlo debajo del

prensatelas y a la izquierda sobre la placa de

aguja.

Nota : Usar las pinzas proveido para ayuda

THREADING UPPER LOOPER

Thread the upper looper as indicated 1 - 8.

tension control (3), as illustrated.

• Thread the upper looper area of the

machine following the blue color coded

thread guide 4 - 6.

(The upper looper thread passes through

thread guide (6) automatically when the

hand wheel is rotated and the needle is

lowered.)

• Pass the thread through wire thread guide

(7) as illustrated.

• Draw thread through upper looper eye (8),

front to back, leaving an excess of about

4" (10 cm).

• Draw thread under presser foot and to the

left 0vet the needle plate.

NOTE: Use the tweezers provided to aid

in threading.

ENHEBRAR ELANCORA

SUPERIOR

Enhebrar el ancora superior como indicado

1-8,

• Pasar el hilo del parte posterior al frente a

traves de la portacarrete del hilo (1).

• Avanzar el hilo a traves de la guia del hilc

izquierda sobre la place de aguja.

THREADING THE NEEDLES

Thread the needles as indicated 1 - 8.

• Pass each thread from back to front

through pole thread guides (1),

• Feed each thread through the appropriate

pro-tension thread guide (2), as illustrated.

• Pull each thread around the appropriate

needle thread tension control (3), as

illustrated.

Right Needle

• Following arrows, draw right needle thread

through needle guide (4) as illustrated.

Hook the right needle thread around right

needle guide (5) and thread right needle

(6) from front to back

Left Needle

• Following arrows, draw left needle thread

through needle guide (4) as illustrated.

• Hook the left needle thread around left

needle guide (7) and thread left needle (8}

from front to back.

• Pull both threads towards the back

passing along the right side of presser

foot, leaving an extra length of about 4"

(10 cm).

Note: Use the tweezers provided 1o aid in

threading.

Aguja derecha

• Siguiendo flechas, tirar el hilo de aguja

derecha a trav6s de guia de aguja (4)

como ilustrado.

• Enganchar el hilo de aguja derecha

alrededor de guia del aguja derecha (5) y

hilar la aguja derecha (6) del frente al

parte posterior.

Aguja izquierda

• Siguiendo fiechas, tirar el hilo de aguja

izquierda a traves de guia de aguja (4)

como ilustrado.

Enganchar el hilo de aguja derecha

alrededor de guia del aguja izquireda (5) y

hilar la aguja izquierda (6) del frente al

parte posterior.

Tirar ambos hilos hasta el parte posterior

pasando et lado derecho del prensatelas,

dejando la Iongitud extra de

aproximadamente 4" (10cm).

TESTING STITCH OVERLOCK STITCHES COMPROBAR LOS SOBREHILADOS

After threading is completed, use a scrap of fabric that you plan

to sew and test sew in the following order:

1. Gently pulling all the threads to the left, lower the presser

foot. Rotate the hand wheel towards you a few times to see

if the lock stitches are properly formed. (Fig. 1)

Despues de que el enhebrado se completa, usar un tejido de

repuesto del que piense coser y verifique el cosido en el

siguiente orden:

t. Tirando suavemente de todos los hilos a la izquierda bajar

2. Start the machine at low speed and feed in test fabric under

the presser foot by slightly pushing it forward. (This can be

done with the presser foot down on most fabrics except

bulky materials.)

Guide the fabric gently as machine automatically feeds the

material. (Fig. 2)

3. Check thread tensions by test sewing on spare fabric. (See

page 22.)

4. At fabric end, carry On running machine at low speed, gently

pulling the fabric towards the back, until about 5 to 6 cm of

extra lock stitches are produced without fabric.

Cut thread with scissors. (Fig. 3)

Arrancar la m&quina a baja velocidad y avanzar el tejido de

prueba debajo del pie prensatelas tirandb ligeramente hacia

adelante.

Guiar el tejido suavemente mientras la m&quina avanza

autom&ticamente el material. (Fig. 2)

3. Comprobar las tensiones del hilo mirando el cosido en el

tejido de prueba. (Ver pagina 23)

AI final del cosido del tejido, continuar con la m&quina

funcionando a baja vetocidad, tirando suavemente el tejido

hacia la parle de atr&s, hasta conseguir unos 5 o 6 cms. de

sobrehilado.

Corte el hilo con tijeras. (Fig. 3)

HELPFUL HINTS

REPLACING THREAD SPOOLS

When replacing thread spools, the following steps may be

helpful for quick changeover.

1. Cut off existing threads near the spools (Fig. 1). Tie the cut

ends to thread from new spools as illustrated (seamen's

knot), (Fig. 2).

2. Raise presser foot and turn all tension controls to 0.

3. Lower needle bar to its lowest position by turning hand

wheel away from you. Carefully pull the existing thread one

by one until the connecting knots pass through needle eye

and looper eye.

4. Reset the tension controls.

CUTTING NEEDLE THREAD

Frayed thread may make needle threading difficult.

Draw the thread passing under the moving cutter and turn hand

wheel towards you to obtain clear cut end as illustrated (Fig. 3).

SUGERENCIAS DE AYUDA

REEMPLAZAR LOS CARRETES DE HILO

Cuando se reemplacen los carretes de hilo, para un cambio

r&pido, los siguientes pasos pueden set de ayuda:

1. Cortar los hilos existentes cerca de los carretes (Fig. 1). Ate

los bordes cortados al hilo de los nuevos carretes como

ilustrado. (Nudo de marineros), (Fig. 2)

2, Levantar el pie prensatelas y girar todos diales de tensi6nes

hasta O.

3. Bajar la barra de aguja a la posici6n m&s bajo girando el

voiante manualmente en sentido de costura. Tirar

cuidadosamente de los hilos existentes hasta que los nudos

de conexion pasen a traves de ojo de aguja y ancora.

4. Refijar los diales de tensi6nes.

CORTAR EL HILO DE LA AGUJA

Un hilo deshilachado puede hacer dificil el enhebrado de la

aguja. Tire del hilo hasta que posicione debajo de la cuchilla

m6vil y gire el volante manualmente en sentido de costura para

obtener un porte limpio como ilustrado (Fig. 3).

Note: The above settings of tension and overedge cutting width dial are for general guidance. A

little fine-tuning wili improve your stitching in many cases. Following are some tips which

may help you.

1. Adjust overedge cutting width dial when fabric "curls" or loops hang over the edge of

fabric. (See page 24)

2. Stitch finger (8) may have to be used when loops hang over the edge when sewing

lightweight fabric using 3 threads (right needle only). (See page 24)

3. Adjust needle thread tension controls when sewing thick or thin fabric.

4. Reduce the tension when using thick thread.

5. Incorrect tension settings may cause skipped stitches. Readjust the tension

settings.

Try test sewing with a piece of fabric you are going to use and find the best settings.

Nota : Los n_meros de arriba de tensi6n y dial de anchura de costura son para un sobrehilado

general. Un peque_o giro mejorara sus pespuntes en muchos casos. La informaci6n

siguiente ser& muy _til.

1. Ajustar el dial de anchura de costura cuando el material "riza" o lazos colgan la orilla

de material (Ver la p&gina 24).

2. El dedo de puntada (B) se puede tener que usar cuando lazos colgan la orilla de

material cuando cosiendo el material ligeros usando tres hilos (solamente aguja

derecha). (Ver p&gina 24).

3. Ajustar los controles de tensi6n de aguja cuando cosiendo material grueso

o fino.

4. Reducir la tensi6n cuando usando el hilo gruese.

5. Fijaci6n de tensi6n incorrecta causa puntos sueltos. Reajustar la tensiSn.

Comprobar las puntadas con un trozo de material independiente al que vaya a

usa y consiga las mejores resultados.
