Lovibond Single Method 56I700350 - Quaternary Ammonium Compounds User manual

  • Hello! I'm your assistant, and I've analyzed the provided document describing the Lovibond Quaternary Ammonium Compounds test using reagents 56I700350, QA1, QA2 and QA3. This method involves a colorimetric titration procedure to measure the concentration of QAC. I am ready to answer your questions about the test procedure, the reagents, and how to interpret the results. Feel free to ask!
  • What is the concentration range for the test?
    What is CTAB?
What does the QAC Indicator QA1 do?
What is the purpose of the QAC Buffer QA2?
How is the test result calculated?

20 mL 10
Fill the jar with 20 mL of
the sample.
Add 10 drops QAC Indi-
cator QA1.
Swirl to mix.
The sample will turn blue
or yellow (the pH value of
the sample is decisive for
the colour).
Add x drops of QAC Buffer
QA2 to give a red/purple
colour.
Attention! Record the
number of drops that will be
added.
Note: Make sure to swirl the
jar after adding each drop!
Add QAC Titrant QA3
drop by drop to the sample
until colouration turns
from red/purple to
orange/yellow .
Calculate test result: QAC (as CTAB) mg/L = Number of drops x 60
/
