ITV Service: Keyboard/TV Location Setup
Install two high-quality “AA” alkaline
batteries into the ITV keyboard
battery compartment.
Set up the keyboard with an
unrestricted line-of-sight path between
the keyboard and the TV front panel.
Turn on the TV. Press “Logo” on the key-
board for ITV* homepage.
Use the “Roller Ball” the directional arrow
device on the keyboard to move the
arrow to the word “Browser”. Press (click)
the “Left Select Key” on the keyboard, to
go to the ITV home page.

operation. Then go to page 3 to
“Register” with ITV.

TROUBLESHOOTING CHECKLIST
1. Refer to Users Guide to make sure that unit is properly connected
to your TV/VCR and telephone line.
2. Check that your telephone line is OK by connecting a telephone to the
telephone jack and listening for the dial tone.
3. "ONLY" if you have experience with configuring TCP/PPP, access the
unit's Internet Set-Up pages by clicking the link below or pressing
ALT-CTRL-S. Please note that modifying the current setting might prevent
the unit from properly operating.
4. If you are not confident with TCP/PPP or are unsure how to proceed,
always refer to your Internet Service Provider hot line.

ITV Service: Basic Menu Operation
With the TV turned on, press “Logo” on the keyboard to show
the ITV interactive menu on-screen.
On the Keyboard, use the “Roller Ball” to move the directional
arrow to an option on the menu. When the arrow changes to a
hand with a pointing finger, press the “Left
Select Key” on the keyboard to go to that
option.
Use the ITV interactive service to:
• Browse the Internet (World-wide Web).
• Send or receive simple Email messages.
• Scan news articles, various online shopping opportunities,
and other interactive options.
When finished with your interactive session, click on
“Hangup” on the menu to exit and then press “Logo” to return
to TV viewing.

Navigating the ITV
Menu:
Scroll, Click, or Press

TV Insert
With ITV active, press TV
Insert on the keyboard to
place the PIP inset on the
screen of the currently tuned
channel on the TV. Press TV
Insert again to remove the
PIP channel. See the other
PIP/sound options available
as described in the TV oper-
ating guide.
You can also use the direct-access “Hot” keys on the top and bottom rows of the
keyboard. See page 4 for Hot key descriptions.

When being used, the keyboard should always be pointed at the TV screen in such a
way as to allow for an unrestricted visual path so that the IR signals from the key-
board will reach the IR sensor on the front of the TV.

HOMEPAGE Entry page for internet web sites, and the ITV interactive menu page.
EMAIL Electronic mail sent and received over the internet, via telephone lines.
HELP Provides on-screen information about using ITV interactive menus.
Press POWER to turn TV on.
Press “Logo” on the keyboard to show the ITV menu on the TV
screen.
Press “Setup” on the keyboard to go directly to the registration
forms menu.
Follow on-screen instructions and use the keyboard to type-in
the registration information. (Click on HELP if necessary.)
Registration requires you to provide all the requested information
and fill in all fields, give your credit card information, and choose
a name and password for your Email account.
Registration is received over a secured telephone line
First time usage automatically displays the Registration Form.

Internet Service Providers (ISPs)
In order to use the Internet you must
subscribe to an Internet service, usually
for a monthly fee. This will allow you to
access Internet sites.
Phone Number
Your Internet service provider is accessed
by a telephone call to their Internet

How Do I ?
Get Help When Using ITV
Click on “help” on the menu. Help provides
how-to-do-it answers to frequently asked
questions regarding how to use ITV menu
options.
Switch Between TV and ITV
Press the hot key labeled “Logo” switches
viewing between ITV service and currently
tuned TV channel.
Turn TV Channel On and Off
With ITV image on the TV screen, press
“Logo” on the keyboard to switch to TV
mode and show currently tuned channel,
press again to return to ITV.
Turn TV PIP Channel On and Off
With ITV image on the TV screen, press “TV
Insert” on the keyboard to show currently
tuned channel, press again to return to
turn PIP Channel off.
Search the Web
Click on the word “Search” (right side of
the ITV menu). Click on the text rectangle,
to select. Type the search term(s) in the
box provided, click “Go” and ITV will take
you to the world-wide web.
Stop the Current Page from Downloading
Press “Esc” (Stop) on the keyboard.
Go to or Return to ITV Homepage
A homepage is the first screen or menu
shown for an Internet site. Click on the
“ITV” logo or press “Home Page” on the
keyboard to go directly to the ITV Home
page.
Read or Send Email
Press the hot key labeled “Email”, choose
new or existing account, then follow the
instructions for logging into your Email
account. Once that’s been done, click
“Send Mail” or “Read Mail”.
Go Back to Previous Page (If available)
Click “Previous” on the menu or press
“Back” on the keyboard.
Go Forward to the Next Page
(If available) Click “Next” on the menu or
press “Next” on the keyboard.
Go to a Favorite Site
Click on “Go To” on the menu or press “Go
To” on the keyboard.
Go to the List of Previous Web Pages
Press “History” on the keyboard.
Show the Home Page Menu
Press “Home” on the keyboard.
Go to the Search Page
Click the word “Search” on the menu.
Go to the Setup Page
Click the word “Setup” on the menu, or
press “Setup” on the keyboard.
Go to the Help Page
Click the word “Help” on the menu.
Close the Connection to ITV
Click on “Hangup” on the menu. Press
“Logo” on the keyboard, to see selected TV
channel.
Go to a Web Address
Click on “Search” on the ITV Home Page
menu to go to the search page and type in
either a subject you want to find or the
Web page address. See next page for more
information.
Restrict ITV Usage
Remove batteries from the keyboard or put
keyboard in a secure location. Also, click
on “Security” on the Setup menu.
Enlarge Image
Press “Zoom” on the keyboard, to return to
normal size, press “Zoom” again.

Accessing the Internet
Press “Home” on the keyboard or click on the word
“Browser”, on the ITV Home Page menu shown above.
Move the arrow to the “Search” rectangle, click the Left
Select Key on the keyboard.
Type in a search term like “Sports”*. Move the arrow to
“Go” then click “Select” on the keyboard to begin the
search. Selectable sites about sports* will appear; nor-
mally 1 - 7 sites. Use the arrow to move (navigate) on
the menu or use the Up/Down arrows to move the
highlight to show the other sites listed. Click on “Next”
to display the next available sites or click on “Previous”
to go back to the sites displayed earlier.
When you are done browsing, click on the ITV icon to
return to the ITV homepage, or click on “Hangup” on
the menu to end the Internet session.
*Sports=Typical display of sports-related sites: Current sports,
sporting goods, sports team sites, sporting events calendars,
sports news, sports events history, sports equipment, sports
locations. sports vacations, etc. The more specific the search
key words, the narrower the search will be. For example,
“Sports+history” adding “+” between search terms dictates the
search would be for those two words together. Some sites may
even take 30 minutes to download.
Note: ITV will automatically disconnect the phone line
from the Internet after five minutes; if there were no
keyboard presses or arrow movement.

Overview of ITV Email Options
• Create an Email Account
Using the keyboard, press “Email”. When the Email menu appears, key-in the information
required to create a new Email account.” Follow the on-screen instructions or click on
“Help” on the menu. When you first registered with ITV, you entered an account user name
and password. Key-in the same user name and password. Click “Log In”.
• Send Email
Click on, “Send Mail” - To create and send an Email message. Type in your message and
click “Send”. Follow on-screen instructions, or click “Help”.
• Receive Email
Click on, “Read Mail” - To read Email messages people have sent to you. Follow on-screen
instructions, or click “Help”.

word “Email”.
Click on the Email option you want to go to, or task you want to perform.
Follow the on-screen instructions or click on “Help” on the menu.
When you are finished using Email, click on the ITV icon to return to the ITV homepage,
or click on “Hangup”on the menu, to end the Email session.

Try these simple solutions to resolve ITV problems
PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE(S) POSSIBLE SOLUTION(S)
ITV does not work. Not registered. Register with ITV to use service.
Phone not connected. Wait to be connected to ITV.
Home page not on-screen. Press “Logo” on keyboard.
Modem not connected. Connect telephone line to TV jackpack.
Telephone line not working. Contact telephone company.
IR path from keyboard obstructed. Remove obstruction so keyboard IR signal can reach
front of TV.
Keyboard batteries weak. Replace with 2 high-quality “AA” alkaline batteries.
Batteries installed wrong. Make sure “+” and “-” match in battery compartment.
Software lock-up. Turn TV off, wait two minutes then turn TV back on.
ITV takes a long time Complex image. The more complex the visual image or web site,
to show web site. the longer it will take to be downloaded.
Site busy. Some sites get heavy usage and take longer to load.
Can’t open Email attachments. Not possible. Email attachments cannot be accessed through ITV.
Registration form not accepted. Form incomplete. All information must be filled in on form to be accepted.
Cursor on item, nothing happens. Left Select Key was not Click Left Select Key on keyboard to go to item.

Can’t move arrow down. Ad Banners interfere with navigating. Use Down or Up arrows to move highlight within menu.
Can’t access subscription sites. Fee required to access ISP site. Contact the ISP you wish to subscribe to and get the
necessary information and pay the fee required to be a
user of their Internet access service.
ITV disconnects from Internet. No menu activity for 5 minutes. Click on a menu option to reconnect.
Information Updates ITV periodically updates information on a regular basis throughout the day. When registering,
pick a time when you would not be using the telephone, while asleep etc. and ITV will update the
ITV Homepage data automatically, within your specified time frame.
Software Upgrades ITV may elect to change the user menu appearance as necessary.
Dialing Prefix If additional numbers need to be pressed to make outgoing phone calls out such as 9 or other number
sequences, be sure to include them with your phone number when registering.
TV/ITV This interactive TV is a two-function appliance. TV functions are separate from ITV functions.
Pressing “Logo” on the keyboard, switches operation between TV functions and ITV functions.
Even if the TV is turned off, ITV remains active; so that it can receive information updates periodically.
