TIPS FOR SAVING ENERGY
Here are some tips that will help you minimize the power consumption when you use the air
conditioner. You can use your air conditioner more efficiently by referring to the instructions
below:
• Do not cool excessively indoors. This may be harmful for your health and may consume
more electricity.
• Block sunlight with blinds or curtains while you are operating the air conditioner.
• Keep doors or windows closed tightly while you are operating the air conditioner.
• Adjust the direction of the air flow vertically or horizontally to circulate indoor air.
• Speed up the fan to cool or warm indoor air quickly, in a short period of time.
• Open windows regularly for ventilation as the indoor air quality may deteriorate if the air con-
ditioner is used for many hours.
• Clean the air filter once every 2 weeks. Dust and impurities collected in the air filter may
block the air flow or weaken the cooling / dehumidifying functions.

Indoor Units Installation
The distance between the side and the sidewall cannot be less than 1 meter. In horizontal instal-
lation, ceiling hooks should be prepared for lifting the unit; in vertical installation, fix the unit on
the floor with bolts. Apply rubber cushions between the frame and its support to reduce vibra-
tion. The unit should be installed level, and the drain pan should be kept lean, The indoor unit
causes noise while operation, so it should be installed in a place where noise does not bother
people very much, in a room close to stairway, elevator or toilet, for example. A good way to
abate noise is to build a wall to isolate the machine from air-conditioned rooms, and close all
doors and windows of the unit room.
Therefore, the unit room should apply a return air system. To fix the return air piping, angle pipes
should be prepared on site. Besides, you ought to prevent noise for entering air-conditioned
rooms through the return air entrance.
Outdoor Unit Installation
The units can be installed on a proper ground or roof. The unit should be installed level with
enough air volume. In order to let air ow enter the condensation coil freely and without hot return
air, you should have sufficient space reserved when install the outdoor unit, as below table and
gure shows. Otherwise, air ow to the coil will get restrained, or discharge air will return. Conse-
quently there will be a capacity loss, power consumption will increase, and malfunction may
occur. Tall buildings around the unit may create downdraft affecting air discharge. Outdoor fan is
na axial flow fan, which does not an air pipe. Avoid installing the outdoor unit right below window
or between constructions, otherwise, noise caused by unit operation will go indoors. If the unit
can be easily approached by persons without permission, measures should be taken to protect it,
for example, setting up a fence. This will prevent the unit from sabotage or accidental damage,
and protect the control box from being opened and electrical components being exposed. Always
leave enough space between several outdoor units to benet their normal operation and your
maintenance.
Adjust the fin heat exchanger of the outdoor unit away from direct sunshine. Do not install the
unit in places full of dead leaves, insects or contaminations in case the heat exchanger is clogged
up. Ensure that the unit is set up level; the fan and compressor can operate normally, never in-
stall the unit in places easy to catch fire and exploded; be sure that no poisonous and dangerous
substance, such as oil steam or sulfur, exists in surrounding atmosphere keep the unit away from
boiler flue or any environment that can cause gin coil and other copper components to corrode. If
install the unit in places easy to be contaminated, you have to do more maintenance work.
The unit can be fixed on any flat surface that can hold 400 kg / m
2
pressure, no special pedestal
needed. Whether on roof or ground, rubber cushions should be applied between the unit frame
and its support to reduce vibration.

MAINTENANCE
• Air Filter
According to specific environment conditions, the air filter is often fixed at a return air entrance,
to effectivel y screen soot, dust, dirt, farina and other matters. The air filter is usually made of
nylon or leno fiber, and can be washed with water. When cleaning it, lay it on a solid place and
knock it lightly to remove dusts from its surface. If necessary, wash it with neutral detergent in
warm water, and dry it before fix it back.
The air filter can be fixed and removed conveniently , for it can be taken out from all sides of a
unit.
• Belt
The indoor unit is driven by belt(s). After the unit works for some time, adjust the belt tension.
• Heat exchanger
Use a vacuum cleaner and a nylon brush to clean up the heat exchanger. If there is a com-
pressed air source available, blow off the dust from the exchanger surface with compressed
air. You should note that with a proper air ltering net and suf cient maintenance, there is no
need to wash the indoor exchanger’s surface.
However, the outside heat exchanger should be washed and cleaned regularly.
• Drainage Pipe
Before start the units,check if the drainage pipes are clogged, and ensure that the condensate
water can smoothly

• Fan Installation and Adjustment
The fan rotating rate is subject to the air volume required by the units, the unit components and
the resistance in return air pipe. Based on the demanded air volume and the total static pres-
sure, according to the performance curve, you can make out the fan-rotating rate. With the ro-
tating rates of fans and motors, you will know to use what kind of belt pulleys.The fan-rotating
rate can be adjusted by changing belts or pulleys. This will change the indoor unit’s air volume
and residual pressure. To replace belts and pulleys on site, please see the following picture and
nd their correct positions.
• Belt Adjustment
If the belt is not tight enough, the friction between belt and pulleys may become weak and can
hardly drive the fan to rotate. As a result, the air volume and residual pressure will become in-
sufficient, and unit performance will be affected seriously. However, if the belt is too tight, the
fan or the motor bearings will be worn out more quickly, and the fan or the motor will have
lower performance and shorter operating life. Too loose or too tight belts are harmful to the
units and will make the noise louder. Readjust the belt tension after a week of trial operation.
And then, check the belt every 1 or 2 months to ensure that the tension is suitable. Otherwise,
make some adjustment or replace the belt. When use a new belt, in the first 24 hours of opera-
tion, check its tension at least twice.
• Safety
The installation and maintenance of the air conditioning system should be performed by well-
trained professionals. Regular maintenance, such as coil and air filter cleaning, is necessary for
a normal operation of the units.

Connection Drainage
Condensate drainage is provided on the unit. The connection is located at the rear. Use a 19 mm
diameter plastic tube.
To ensure correct condensate drainage,the drain line must be installed with a gradient of at least
2 % (2cm per metre) and without any upward slopes.
An elbow trap at least 50mm in in height must also be provided.
If possible, install a U bend fitted with an inspection cap.
Where the condensate lines from several units are joined together, each individual outlet must be
fitted with an elbow trap.
After routing and connecting condensate lines, pour water into the collecting pan and check that
it drains correctly.
An auxiliary condensate pump could be installed in cases where drain lines cannot be routed at
the correct gradient.

Preparation of piping

purchased locally.
- Measure the distance between the Indoor
and the Outdoor Unit
- Cut the cable 1.5 m. Longer than the pipe

Flaring the pipes
- Insert the flare nuts, mounted on the con-
nection ports of both Indoor and Outdoor
Unit, onto the copper pipes.
- Fit the copper pipe end into the bar of flare
tool about 0-0.5mm. Higher. (see illustra-
tion.)
- Flare the pipe ends.

Refrigerant piping connections (FLARE connections)
To avoid alteration of unit capacities, check that piping lengths and changes in elevation are kept
to a strict minimum.
Before connecting the refrigerant lines, follow the procedures below (if precharged connection
lines are not supplied):
- Select copper pipe diameters according to the size of unit to be installed.
- Install the refrigeration lines, checking that no foreign bodies get inside the piping.
- Install the flare connectors and flare the ends of the pipes.
- Evacuate the piping. This operation, which should last at least 15 minutes or even longer if there
are large piping lengths and changes in elevation, should be followed by a leak test.
- To this effect, when the piping has been evacuated, close the pressure gauge tap, note the
value on the gauge, then wait for 15 minutes. If the needle moves, there is a leak in the system.
Make the neccessary adjustments or repairs and repeat this procedure until the needle no
longer moves.
- Open the service valves and top up the refrigerant charge if necessary.

All information in this document are from some OEMs. Please use this document for guideline
and confirm that the system temperature, pressure,oli and voltage are maintained at normal ap-

The charts below the line sizes that can be selected for each tonnage of unit and the maximum
equivalent length and maximum rise of the line. The maximum actual line length is 200 feet.
Equivalent line length would include elbows and other components that would increase the
equivalent length.

Suction Line sizing criteria
The following considerations have already been accounted for when relating to the selection
charts.
- Minimum velocity of 100 fpm for vertical lines and 800fpm for horizontal lines guarantee proper
oil return
- Minimal pressure drop to minimize capacity loss

Oil Addition
If the line set you selected is the shaded area of R22 Line, Maximum Rise Chart oil needs to be
added to the compressors. The formula below determines the amount of oil to add to the com-
pressors.

- TSC = Total System Charge (pounds*)
A rule of thumb is to multiply the amount of refrigerant in the system by 2.2% and multiply this
sor nameplate and add the remaining amount to the system.
This means that most system doesn’t need additional oil unless the refrigerant charge exceeds
35 pounds.

Maintenance
The unit are designed to operate for long periods of time with a minimum of maintenance.
However, the following operations must be performed regularly.

Trouble-shooting Guide
Problem Probable cause and remedy
• The air conditioner does not
run.
- Check that the fuse has not blown or that main circuit
breaker has not tripped.
- Is the main switch in the OFF position ?
- Have you made a mistake when using the programming
functions ?
• The unit does not cool effi-
ciently.
- Is the filter dirty ? See Instructions on how to clean the fil-
ter.
- The room was probably very hot when you started the air
conditioning unit-wait a little while until it has had enough
time to cool the room.
- Have you programed the right temperature ?
• There is a bad smell in the
room.
- Check that the smell is not made by humidity coming from
the walls, carpets, furniture, or other fabrics in the room.
• The air conditioner is noisy.
- There is a noise like shower. This is a noise made by dehu-
midi-fication water being treated inside the unit.
• Condensation water seems
to be running out of the unit.
- Condensates are produced when the air conditioner cools
the air in the room.
• The air conditioner will not
run for 3 minutes after it has
been restarted.
- This is due to a system protection device. Wait 3 minutes
and operation of the unit will resume.
• The remote control handset
display is weak or shows
nothing at all.
- The batteries may need replacing.
- Be careful not to invert the polarities when replacing them.
• The air conditioner does not
respond to remote control
commands, or to direct
forced operation commands.
