1.8 Accidental starting. To prevent accidental starting when setting up, transporting,
adjusting or making repairs always disconnect the spark plug wire and place the wire where it
cannot accidently touch the spark plug.
1.9 Safe operation practices before use.
1.9.1 Read, understand, and follow all instructions on the machine and in the
manuals. Be thoroughly familiar with the controls and the proper use of the trimmer
before starting. Know how to stop the trimmer and disengage the controls quickly.
1.9.2 Familiarise yourself with all safety and operating decal on this equipment
1.9.3 Thoroughly inspect the area where the trimmer is to be used and remove all
foreign objects Your equipment can propel small objects at high speed causing
personal injury or property damage. Stay away from breakable objects, such as
house windows, car windows, greenhouse etc.
1.9.4 Inspect the throtle cotrol lever and cable. Make sure that the cable is free and
that the lever is not damaged. Also check the cable linkage running to the carburetor
for kinks, loose fittings and onstructions. Verify that the start lever is working properly
1.9.5 Check that all nuts and bolts are tight and equipment is in good condition.
Check mounting hardware on trimmer head every time you change trimmer line prior
to each use.
1.10 Operational safety.
1.10.1 Never allow children or young teenagers to operate the trimmer.
1.10.2 Keep area of operation clear of all bystanders, particularly small children and
pets.
1.10.3 Keep bystanders at least 5ft (15m) away.
1.10.4 Only allow responsible individuals, who are familiar with the instructions to
operate the trimmer.
1.10.5 Do not operate the trimmer whilst under the influence of alcohol, drugs or
other medications which can cause drowsiness or affect your ability to operate his
machine safely.
1.10.6 DO NOT use this machine if you menatlly or physically unable to operate the
machine.
1.10.7 Always wear CE compliant safety goggles or glasses withside shield when
operating the trimmer to protect your eyes from foreign objects, which can be thrown
from the unit.
1.10.8 Wear appropiate clothing such as long sleeved shirt or jacket. DO NOT wear
long baggy trousers or shorts. Wearing loose clothing could get caught in
this equipment.
1.10.9 Always wear work gloves and sturdy footwear such as leather work shoes or
short boots. These will protect ankles and shins from small sticks, splinters and other
flying debris, and to improve traction.
1.10.10 It is advisable to wear protective headgearto protect against being struck by
small flying particles or being by low hanging branches, twigs or other objects which
may be unnoticed by the operator.
