1. Disablelocksandremoveanyropesconnectedtothegaragedoor.
2. Liftthedoorhalfwayup.Releasethe door.Ifbalanced,itshouldstayin
place,supportedentirelybyitssprings.
3. Raiseandlowerthedoortocheckforbindingor sticking.Ifyourdoor
binds,sticks,or isoutofbalance,call atraineddoorsystems
technician.
4. Checkthesealonthebottomofthe door.Anygapbetweenthefloor
andthebottomofthe doormustnotexceed1/4inch(6 mm).
Otherwise,thesafetyreversalsystemmaynotworkproperly.
5. The openershouldbeinstalledabovethecenterofthe door.Ifthereis
atorsionspringor centerbearingplateinthewayoftheheader
bracket,itmaybeinstalledwithin4feet(1.2m)totheleftor rightofthe

Toavoidinstallationdifficulties,donotrunthegaragedooropeneruntilinstructed todoso.
Thefrontrailhasacutout"windod' atthe doorend (seeillustration).Theholeabovethiswindowis
largeronthetopoftherailthanonthebottom.A smallerhole3-1/2"(8.9cm)awayisclosetotherail
edge.Rotatethebackrail soit hasa similarholeclosetothe oppositeedge,about4-3/4"(12cm)from
thefarend.
1. Removethestraightdoorarmandhangingbracketpackagedinsidethefrontrailand set
asideforInstallationStep5and9.NOTE:TopreventINJURYwhileunpackingtherail
carefullyremovethestraightdoor armstoredwithintherail section.
2. Aligntherailsectionsonaflatsurfaceasshownand slidethetaperedendsintothelarger
ones.Tabsalongthesidewill lockintoplace.
3. Placethemotorunitonpackingmaterialtoprotectthecover,andrestthebackend oftherail
ontop. Forconvenience,putasupportunderthe frontendoftherail.
4. Asa temporarystop,insertascrewdriverintothehole 10"(25cm)fromthefrontendoftherail,
asshown.
5. Checktobesurethereare4plasticwearpadsinsidetheinnertrolley.Iftheybecameloose
duringshipping,checkallpackingmaterial.Snapthembackintopositionasshown.
6. Slidethetrolleyassemblytowardthescrewdriverasshown.
7. Slidetherailontothe"U"bracket,untilit reachesallthestopsonthetopandsidesofthe"U"
bracket.

Laythebeltbesidetherail,asshown.Grasptheendwiththe hookedtrolleyconnectorand
passapproximately12"(30cm)ofbeltthroughthewindow.Keeptheribbedsidetowardthe
rail,andallowitto hanguntilAssemblyStep4.
2. Removethetapefromthe idlerpulley.Theinsidecentershouldbepre-greased.Ifdry,
regreasetoensureproperoperation.
3. Placetheidlerpulleyintothewindowasshown.
4. Inserttheidler boltfromthetop throughtherail andpulley.Tightenwitha3/8"lockwasherand
nutunderneaththe rail untilthe lockwasheriscompressed.
5. Rotatethepulleytobesureit spinsfreely.
6. Locatetherailtab.The railtabisbetweentheidlerboltandthetrolleyinthefrontrailsection.
Useaflathead screwdriverandlifttherailtabuntilthe tabisvertical(90°).

drywall.
ConcreteanchorsMUSTbeusedif mountingheaderbracketor 2x4intomasonry.
NEVERtrytoloosen,moveor adjustgaragedoor,springs,cables,pulleys,brackets,or their
hardware,ALLofwhichare underEXTREMEtension.
ALWAYScallatraineddoorsystemstechnicianifgaragedoorbinds,sticks,or isoutof balance.
AnunbalancedgaragedoormightNOTreversewhenrequired.
Installationproceduresvaryaccordingtogaragedoortypes.Followtheinstructionswhichapplyto your

1. Closethedoorand marktheinsideverticalcenterlineofthe garagedoor.
2. Extendthelineontotheheaderwallabovethedoor.
Youcanfastentheheaderbracketwithin4feet (122 m) ofthe left orrightofthedoor
centeronlyifatorsionspringorcenterbearingplateisintheway; oryoucanattach it to
theceilingwhenclearanceisminimal (Itmaybemountedonthewallupsidedownif
necessary,togainapproximately1/2"(1 cm).
Ifyouneedtoinstalltheheaderbracketona2x4 (onwallor ceiling),uselagscrews(not
provided)tosecurelyfastenthe2x4tostructuralsupports.
3. Openyourdoortothehighestpointoftravelasshown.Drawanintersectinghorizontallineon
theheaderwall2" (5 cm)abovethehighpoint:
2" (5cm)abovethehighpointfor sectionaldoorandone-piecedoorwithtrack.
8" (20cm)abovethehighpointforone-piecedoorwithouttrack.
Thisheightwillprovidetravelclearanceforthetopedgeofthedoor.NOTE:Ifthe totalnumberofinches

tracks,laythe2x4onit'sside.
NOTE: A2x4 isidealforsettingthedistancebetweentherail andthedoor.Iftheladder isnottall
enoughyou willneedhelp atthispoint.Ifthedoorhitsthetrolleywhenit israised,pullthetrolleyrelease
armdowntodisconnecttheinnerandoutertrolley.Slidetheoutertrolleytowardthegaragedoor
opener.Thetrolleycanremaindisconnecteduntilinstructed.

obstructions.
NEVERusehandletopulldoor openor closed.Ifropeknotbecomesuntied,youcouldfall.
1. Insertone endoftheemergencyreleaseropethroughthehandle.Makesurethat"NOTICE"is
rightsideup.Tieaknotatleast1inch(2.5cm)fromtheendoftheemergencyreleaserope.
2. Inserttheotherendoftheemergencyreleaseropethroughtheholeinthetrolleyreleasearm.
Mountthe emergencyreleasewithinreach,butatleast6feet(1.83m)abovefloor,avoiding
centactwithvehiclestopreventaccidentalreleaseandsecurewitha knot.
NOTE: flit isnecessarytocuttheemergencyreleaserope,sealthecutend withamatchorlighterto
preventunraveling.Ensuretheemergencyreleaseropeand handleareabovethetopofall vehiclesto
avoidentanglement.

Fiberglass,aluminumorlightweightsteelgaragedoorsWILLREQUIREreinforcementBEFORE
installationofdoorbracket.Contactyourdoormanufacturerforreinforcementkit.

1. Center the door bracket on the top ofthe door, in line with the header bracket as shown.
2. Mark either the left and right, or the top and bottom holes.
Metal Doors:
Drill 3/16" pilot holes and fasten the bracket with the self-threading screws provided.
Wood Doors:
• Drill 5/16" holes and use 5/16"x2" carriage bolts, lock washers and nuts (not provided) or 5/16"xl -
1/2" lag screws (not provided) depending on your installation needs.
NOTE: The door bracket may be installed on the top edge of the door ff required for your insta//ation.

5. Pulltheemergencyreleasehandletowardthegaragedooropeneruntilthetrolleyrelease
