IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
When using electrical appliances, especially
when children are present, basic safety
precautions should always be followed,
including the following:
To reduce the risk of burns, electrocution,
re, or injury to persons.
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING.
KEEP AWAY FROM WATER.
DANGER
As with most electrical appliances, electrical
parts are electrically live even when the
switch is off. To reduce the risk of death by
electric shock:
1. Always unplug immediately after
using.
2. Do not use while bathing or
showering.
3. Do not place or store appliance where
it can fall or be pulled into a tub or
sink.
4. Do not place in or drop into water or
other liquid.
5. If an appliance falls into water, unplug
it immediately. Do not reach into
water.
6. Do not use if plug is loose in the
outlet, as there may be a risk of re,
electrical shock, electrical shortage,
and burning.
WARNING
Do not use this appliance near
bathtubs, showers, basins or
other vessels containing water.
1. When not in use, the appliance should
be disconnected and stored in a safe,
dry location, out of reach of children.
Allow appliance to cool before storing.
2. The appliance should never be left
unattended when plugged in.
3. Close supervision is necessary when
this appliance is used by, on, or near
children or individuals with certain
disabilities.
4. Use this appliance only for its intended
use as described in this manual. Do not
use attachments not recommended by
the manufacturer.
5. Handle cord carefully for longer life
and do not put any stress on the cord
where it enters the handle. Avoid
jerking, twisting or straining, especially
at the plug connections.
6. Never operate this appliance if it
has a damaged cord or plug. If it
is not working properly, or if it has
been dropped, damaged, or come
into contact with water. Return the
appliance to a service center for
examination and repair in order to
avoid hazard. Do not attempt to repair
the appliance yourself.
7. Keep the appliance and the cord
away from water and heated surfaces.
Do not wrap the cord around the
appliance since this will cause the cord
to wear prematurely and break.
8. Keep heated surfaces clean and
free from dust, dirt, and hair spray.
If cleaning becomes necessary,
disconnect the appliance from the
power source, allow it to cool, then
wipe the exterior with a damp cloth.
9. Never use while sleeping.
10. Never drop or insert any object into
any opening or hole of the appliance.
11. Do not use outdoors or operate
where aerosol (spray) products are
being used or where oxygen is being
administered.
12. Do not place the appliance directly
on any unprotected surface while the
styler is plugged in, hot, or cooling
down after use.
13. Do not use an extension cord with this
appliance.
14. Do not operate with a voltage
converter.
15. If the power cord is damaged, it must
be replaced by the manufacturer, its
service agent or similarly qualied
persons in order to avoid a hazard.
16. Do not place appliance on any surface
while it is operating. The product is for
household use.
17. This curling iron is hot when in use.
Do not let eyes and bare skin touch
heated surfaces.
18. Children should be supervised to
ensure that they do not play with the
appliance.
19. Cleaning and user maintenance shall
not be made by children without
supervision.
20. The temperature on the comb surface
is hot and there is a risk of thermal
burns to the scalp. Please avoid
contact with the scalp.
21. This appliance can be used by children
aged from 8 years and above and
this appliance is not intended for use
by persons (including children) with
reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities, or lack of experience
and knowledge, unless they have
been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
SERVICING OF DOUBLE-INSULATED
DIRECTIONS
To turn on, plug the unit into an electrical outlet and press the Power Button until the
LED Temperature Indicator Lights are illuminated. FREESTYLE MAX will automatically
turn on at the highest heat setting of 420°F. Press the Power Button again to select
the desired temperature as indicated by the LED Temperature Indicator lights. Keep
pressing the Power Button to cycle through the temperature settings. The lights will
ash until the selected temperature is achieved.
FREESTYLE MAX has 4 Heat Settings: 310°F, 345°F, 380°F, 420°F. The unit is on the
Max temperature setting when all of the LED lights are illuminated.
Recommended temperatures by hair type:
HAIR TYPE SETTING TEMPERATURE
Thick, Coarse, Curly High/Max 380°F - 420°F
Normal, Medium, Wavy Medium/High 345°F - 380°F
Fine, Thin Low 310°F
When done styling, press the Power Button until all of the LED lights are off. If you
forget to turn off your FREESTYLE MAX, the Automatic Shut Off will turn the unit off
after 60 minutes. To turn back on, press the Power Button.
STYLING
Use FREESTYLE MAX only on dry hair. Brush hair thoroughly to detangle before
styling with FREESTYLE MAX. Start with small sections and be sure not to roll hair up
around the barrel. Close/Lock barrel to use as a heated round brush. Open barrel to
use as a at iron.
STRAIGHTEN: Start with the barrel in the open position. Take a 1-2” section of hair
and place in between the heated plates, as you would with a traditional at iron. Close
the barrel and slowly glide FREESTYLE MAX down the hair shaft to straighten. Repeat
through all sections for perfectly polished results.
In a double-insulated appliance, two systems of insulation are provided
instead of grounding. No grounding means is provided on a double-insulated
appliance, nor should a means for grounding be added to the appliance.
Servicing a double-insulated appliance requires extreme care and knowledge
of the system, and should be done only by qualied service personnel.
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a
safety feature, this plug will t in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does
not t fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not t, contact a qualied
electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety measure.
USER-MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
1. If cleaning becomes necessary, remember to disconnect the appliance from the power
supply and allow to cool. Then wipe the exterior with damp (never wet) cloth. If the
cord becomes twisted or tangled, untangle it before use.
2. WARNING: If any malfunction occurs, do not attempt to repair it. There are no user-
serviceable parts.
3. Before storing the appliance, let it cool down rst.
4. Never wrap the cord around the appliance, or the cord will wear and break
prematurely. Avoid jerking, bending sharply, twisting or strainging the cord or plug.
5. Any other servicing should be performed by an authorized service representative or
that the appliance has no user serviceable parts.
SMOOTHING: Start with the barrel in the locked/closed position. For smooth, shiny
hair, select a section of hair and place FREESTYLE MAX underneath, snuggly against
roots of hair section. Create tension by pressing hair down through bristles to the
heated barrel. Continue holding ends to maintain tension, while gliding FREESTYLE
MAX down from roots to tips. Bristles will separate hair and evenly distribute heat to
ensure a polished and smooth result. For 2nd-day touch ups, simply brush through
hair for smooth frizz-free style.
VOLUMIZE: Start with the barrel in the closed/locked position. For extra volume and
lift, apply FREESTYLE MAX at the roots. Make sure the roots are snug against the
barrel, but do not wrap your hair around the entire barrel. Leave the barrel in place for
3-5 seconds, then slowly glide through hair.
CURLS & WAVES: Start with the barrel in the locked/closed position. To create loose
curls and waves, begin with the barrel in a vertical position with the brush head facing
upward. Start close to the scalp and wrap the section of hair only once around the
barrel in an s-shape. Maintain the vertical position of FREESTYLE MAX and twirl as you
pull downward through ends of hair. For a more relaxed texture, open the barrel and
use the built-in straightening plates to smooth the ends and soften any dened curls.
If you experience any hair tangling, immediately unplug the unit. Gently and slowly
begin to roll the tool in the opposite direction to release as much hair as possible. If
more detangling is needed, use a comb to lift strands, creating freedom for your hair
to become unwrapped from the tool. Do not attempt to pull hair out with your ngers
while the unit is hot.
LIMITED 1 YEAR WARRANTY
This warranty is for the original purchaser of the InStyler® FREESTYLE MAX 1” Heated
Round Brush with Straightening Iron, and is nontransferable. Tré Milano, LLC warrants
that InStyler® FREESTYLE MAX will have no defects in material and workmanship
under normal household usage for one year from the date of purchase. Keep the
original sales receipt for proof of purchase to attain warranty provisions. Within a
one-year period from the date of purchase, Tré Milano, LLC will repair or replace,
on its own accord, any InStyler® FREESTYLE MAX or parts found to be defective. This
warranty does not cover any shipping and handling charges which may incur. This
warranty does not include any damages caused by accident, misuse, neglect, abuse,
use on a voltage other than marked on the product, or use for commercial purposes.
If your InStyler® FREESTYLE MAX is found to be defective within the time period
of this warranty, please contact the Tré Milano, LLC Customer Service Department
at [email protected] or the Toll Free number (800) 307- 0078. If the product
is discontinued or no longer available, a replacement may be made with a similar
product of equal or greater value. Any attempt to repair or service this product on
your own will void the warranty.
