Warranty
The function and safety of the equipment is only guaranteed
if the warning and safety instructions included in these
assembly instructions are adhered to.
The manufacturer is not liable for personal injury or damage
to property if these occur as a result of the warnings and
safety advice being disregarded.
The manufacturer does not accept any liability or warranty
for damage due to the use of non-approved spare parts and
accessories.
Intended use
The drives in the FTU series are suitable exclusively for
opening and closing re-resistant roller doors without spring
or weight compensation. The force transfer to the door takes
place via a chain drive.
In the case of doors that must be secured against falling, a
separate safety catch device is required.
Target group
Only qualied and trained specialist tters are permitted to
install the drive and perform mechanical maintenance.
Qualied and trained specialist tters must satisfy the
following requirements:
Knowledge of the general and specic safety and accident
prevention regulations,
Knowledge of the relevant regulations,
Training in the use and care of appropriate safety
equipment,
Capable of recognising the dangers associated with
assembly.
Only qualied and trained electricians are permitted to
connect the drive and perform the electrical maintenance.
Qualied and trained electricians must satisfy the following
requirements:
Knowledge of the general and specic safety and accident
prevention regulations,

Training in the use and care of appropriate safety
equipment,
Capable of recognising the dangers associated with
electricity.
Instructions regarding installation, connection and
testing
The system must be disconnected from the electricity supply
before carrying out any electrical work. It must be ensured
that the electricity supply remains disconnected for the
duration of the work.
It is essential to observe the local protective regulations.
Observe the valid standards and regulations.
Information concerning operation
If oil or emulsion mist is to be expected in the direct vicinity
of the drive, which can inuence the friction coefcient of
the brake, protection class IP65 must be selected.
Unauthorised persons (particularly children) should not be
allowed to play with permanently installed adjusting or
control devices.
Keep remote controls beyond the reach of children.

4. Product overview
4.1 4.1 Product descriptionProduct description
The drives in the FTU series are specially designed for re-
resistant doors without spring or weight compensation. They
form a model series from 250–1050Nm. They are connected
with the door shaft by a roller chain. In case of re, they close
independently and automatically by means of gravity alone,
without an energy supply.
In normal operation, the door is opened and closed again
through power operation by a three-phase motor. The gearing
consists of a non-self-locking spur gear unit, a centrifugal and
magnetic brake, an electric motor and an end position system.
The drives are not equipped with manual emergency
operation.
The door load is held by a magnetic brake that is released
immediately in case of re. The centrifugal brake ensures that
the door speed is limited.
In the case of doors that must be secured against falling, a
separate fall protection device is required.

5. Mechanical installation
5.1 5.1 Safety instructions for mechanical Safety instructions for mechanical
installationinstallation
WARNING!
Serious injuries possible due to incorrect installati-
on of the drive!
All components for fastening, connection and the trans-
fer of force must be designed for the maximum loads
that can occur.
The installation base (wall, pillar, etc.) must be suitable
for the maximum loads that can arise.
Installation must take place whilst standing on a stable
foundation
(e. g. scaffolding).
ATTENTION!
Property damage due to improper installation of
the drive!
To avoid damage to the drive and door, only install the
drive if
a special bracket for fastening the drive permits
tensioning or re-tensioning of the chain drive at any time,
the drive is undamaged and not blocked,
it has been checked after an extended time in storage
that the drive runs smoothly and does not exhibit any
corrosion,
the ambient temperature is -20 ºC to +60ºC,
the installation altitude does not exceed 1,000 m above
sea level,
the correct protection type has been selected,
no other danger sources are present,
the installation location is widely cordoned off.
REFERENCE
When installing the drive on the door system, observe the
corresponding installation and operating manual from the
door manufacturer.

5.4 5.4 Installing the fall protection deviceInstalling the fall protection device
A roller chain is used for the transfer of force. Safe operation
of the roller/door system is therefore only possible in
connection with a fall protection device (e.g. external safety
catch device).
Fall protection must be additionally equipped with an electri-
cal disconnect device in the following case:
The door drive is able to move the door leaf by motor
power after it has been stopped by the fall protection.

ATTENTION!
Property damage due to improper installation of
the drive!
In order to avoid damage to the drive, observe the
following points:
Mains cables and control cables must be routed
separately.
The line types and cross-sections must be selected in
accordance with the valid specications.
It is essential to observe the local protective regulations.
Observe the specications of the door manufacturer for
assembly.
The mains voltage must correspond with the information
on the type plate for the drive and the wiring on the
motor terminal board.
In the case of three-phase power, this must have a
clockwise rotating eld.
With a xed connection, an all-pole main switch must be
used.
With three-phase power, only triple block circuit breakers
(10A) shall be used.
Observe the valid standards and regulations!
REFERENCE
In case of operation with a door control (e.g. CS320,
CS320FTU) consider the corresponding assembly manuals.
