1. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Important Warnings

Before using your appliance read this instructions manual carefully and

keep it in a safe place as you may need to consult it in the future.

Before turning on your appliance, and to ensure a safe and correct

operation, do not use if:

• It has fallen to the ground;

• You notice any evidence of damage;

• Any anomaly occurs during its operation.

To avoid hazards or deterioration of your appliance through incorrect

use it is advisable to read these instructions thoroughly.

Your appliance may not be used for other purposes than the ones

intended and solely for household use. Any damage resulting from

using the appliance outside this scope, any incorrect use, as well as

any manual modifications to the product will not be covered and

automatically voids the warranty.

In case of malfunction, take your appliance to the Customer Support

Service for assistance.

This appliance can be used by children from the age of 8 and by

people with reduced physical, sensorial or mental capabilities and/or

lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given instructions

on using the appliance safely and if they understand the hazards

involved. Children may not play with the appliance. Cleaning and

maintenance must not be carried out by children without supervision.

1.1. Power Supply

Make sure the main voltage is compatible with the appliance’s. If this is

not the case, please consult the Customer Support Service.

1.2. Power Cord and Other Cables

Do not tangle the cord or pull it to disconnect the appliance. Also, keep

the cord away from warm surfaces.

Never use the appliance if it has a damaged cable or socket.

Take it to the Technical Support Service for replacement.

1.3. Humidity and Water

Do not use your appliance in humid places. Do not allow the appliance

to become wet under any circumstances as this may be dangerous.

To avoid fire hazard or electric shock do not expose your appliance

to humidity or water. Furthermore, do not place your appliance under

water (e.g. for cleaning).

1.4. Cleaning

• Before cleaning, be sure to switch o the appliance and remove the

plug from the main power supply.

• Always allow the unit to cool down before cleaning.

• To clean the exterior of the product, use a dry soft cloth only.

1.5. General Precautions

• Please follow the instructions in the user manual which help to

properly install and operate this product and enjoy its advanced

features. Please keep the instructions for future reference.

• Read all instructions before using the product.

• Maintenance and service operations are only to be carried out by

authorized professionals.

• Any damage caused by manual modifications to the product is not

covered by the warranty.

• If this product is used for other purposes than the ones originally

intended, or if it is not correctly connected, the product may become

damaged and the warranty will be voided.

• Be careful when you use the unit.

• Only connect the unit to an alternating current supply as per the

type plate.

• Only connect the unit to a correctly installed shockproof socket.

• Do not coil up the cable (this also applies to any extension cable used).

• The socket must be easily accessible at any time to ensure that the

unit can be quickly disconnected from the power supply.

• Check the power cable and the unit regularly for damage.

• Do not use the unit again if the power cable shows any signs

of damage or if the unit is damaged in such a way as to expose

electrical components.

• This appliance cannot be operated by means of an external timer or

individual remote control.

• Danger of injury. If necessary, remove the plug carefully and contact

your specialist dealer or customer service.

• Do not use the unit in easily combustible atmospheres

(e.g. near inflammable gases or spray cans) since there is a danger

of explosion and fire.

• This grill is for household use and the like such as:

- kitchen areas in facilities, oices and other workplaces;

- farms;

- use by customers in hotels, motels and other residential type

environments;

- bed and breakfast-type environments.

• Allow the unit to cool down after being used and before picking it up

and putting it away.

• Never put plastic parts or any other items on the grill rack, except for

the food to be grilled.

• Watch out for fat splashing when grilling meat, since there is a risk of

burns.

• Do not use any plastic cutlery to put the food on the grill rack,

neither to turn it or to remove it.

• The unit must never be used under a running extractor fan or wall

cupboards.

• Never cover the grill rack completely when it is operating, e.g. with

aluminium foil because otherwise the heat cannot be dissipated,

thus resulting in a risk of overheating.

Caution! Never use charcoal or similar fuels on the electric grill.

• Do not touch the grill rack and heating element.

• Only use the unit when the aluminium reflector is immersed in water.

Special safety hints

Please ensure that the thermostat is correctly inserted into the base,

otherwise the unit cannot be used.

The thermostat is fitted with a safety switch, making the heating

element automatically switch o if the thermostat is removed from

the unit. Do not touch the heating element when it is on, as it gets

extremely hot.

2.2. Product usage

Assembling the unit

• First, unpack everything.

• Fit the reflector into the base and the heating element

into de reflector.

• Fit the aluminium grill rack over the heating element.

• Attach the four feet one by one under the base by turning

them clockwise. Then tighten the screws.

• Fit the side wings and wing shield.

• Caution! NEVER use the unit without any water in the base tray.

The water level must be between the MIN & MAX marks.

Operation

• The aluminium reflector must be inside the base and immersed

in water.

• Switch the unit on and set the required temperature with the

thermostat knob. To do this turns the [“MIN/MAX”] knob clockwise.

The unit automatically heats up to the set temperature and then

turns the heating element o. Then the control light switches

on while it is heating up. Should the temperature fall below the set

temperature the unit heats up again and the control light switches

on again. Like this, a constant temperature is maintained.

• The grill rack can be placed at dierent heights to ensure the

optimum distance between the food and the heating element.

The unit’s power consumption depends on the thermostat setting.

For lengthy grilling it is advisable to set the temperature as high

as possible.

• When you finish grilling turn the thermostat knob to “MIN”,

so that the unit cools down. Then remove the plug from the socket.

• Please note that the cooling process will take some time.

• Do not move the unit until it has cooled down.

Grilling

This unit can be used to grill sausages, meat, fish, etc.

Materials like charcoal and wood cannot be used for this purpose.

Put the food directly onto the grill rack.

Do not cover the grill rack with film (aluminium foil or transparent film,

for example).

2.3. Maintenance

Cleaning

1 Before cleaning, unplug the unit from the socket and let it cool down.

2 Remove the heating element from the base.

Then remove the base, the outer heat retaining cover and the grill

rack, and wash the unit by hand [do not use any cleaning agents].

Do not clean the unit with scorers to avoid scratching it.

NEVER immerse the plug, the power cable, the heating element or

the thermostat in liquids.

5 These parts must only be wiped o with a dry cloth.

6 The grill rack can be cleaned with a soft brush.

TIP: After grilling, let the grill rack cool down, then cover it with damp

tea towels and let it soak for 30 - 60 minutes. To ensure the unit works

properly, if necessary, remove lime scale deposits from the water tray.

2.4. Troubleshooting

If the control light does not switch on the heating element may not be

correctly inserted into the base.

Caution! Improper repairs may lead to considerable danger to the user.

BECKEN has designed this appliance in order to guarantee maximum

reliability. However, if a problem occurs do not attempt to open the

appliance - there is a risk of electrical shock. If you are not able to solve

the problem, please contact the Customer Support Service of any

Worten, Modelo or Continente store in order to be assisted. Worten

Equipamentos para o Lar provides a 2-year warranty for manufacturing

defects from the date of purchase of the appliance.

WARNING: any attempt to repair the appliance without contacting the

manufacturer or seller will void the warranty.

All users must be familiar with these instructions. Knowing what could

go wrong can help prevent problems from occurring.

4. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

In order to protect the environment we strive to

reduce the volume of packaging used, limiting

it to three easily sorted materials: cardboard,

paper and plastic. The appliance is manufactured

using recyclable materials after disassembled

by a specialized company. Please comply with

local regulations concerning the recycling of all

materials.

1.1. Alimentación

Compruebe que la tensión de la red eléctrica es compatible con la

indicada en el aparato. En caso de que no sea compatible, consulte al

Servicio de Atención al Cliente.

1.2. Cable de Alimentación y Otros Cables

No enrolle el cable de alimentación ni tire de él para desenchufar el

aparato. Asimismo, manténgalo alejado de superficies calientes.

Nunca utilice este aparato si el cable o el enchufe están dañados.

En su lugar, llévelo a un servicio técnico autorizado para que proceda a

su sustitución.

1.3. Humedad y Agua

No utilice el aparato en lugares húmedos. No deje que el aparato se

moje en ninguna circunstancia, pues puede ser peligroso. Para evitar el

peligro de incendio o descarga eléctrica, no exponga el aparato al agua

o la humedad. Asimismo, no sumerja el aparato (por ejemplo, para

efectuar cualquier operación de limpieza.

Para limpiar el exterior del producto, utilice únicamente un paño suave

y seco.

• El aparato nunca debe ser usado bajo el ventilador de un extractor

en funcionamiento ni bajo armarios de pared.

• Nunca cubra la parrilla completamente durante su funcionamiento,

por ejemplo, con papel de aluminio, ya que el calor no podrá

disiparse, lo que resultaría en un riesgo de sobrecalentamiento.

¡Cuidado! Nunca utilice carbón o combustibles similares en la parrilla

eléctrica.

• No toque la parrilla ni la resistencia de calentamiento.

• Use el aparato únicamente cuando el reflector de aluminio esté

sumergido en agua.

Consejos especiales de seguridad

Asegúrese de que el termostato está correctamente insertado en la

base, de lo contrario, no podrá utilizarse la unidad.

El termostato está equipado con un interruptor de seguridad, de forma

que la resistencia de calentamiento se apaga automáticamente si el

termostato se retira del aparato. No toque sobre la resistencia cuando

esté encendida, ya que alcanza una temperatura muy alta.
