Introduction

Congratulations on your purchase of the Phonic PR-800

and PR-900 wireless microphone systems. The culmination

of years of working in the wireless domain, the PR

series combines the tried and true wireless technology

that Phonic is famous for with a brand new stand-alone

construct. Connecting the transmitter and receiver units is

a breeze with the PR-800 and PR-900, where microphone

transmitters and receivers set to identical frequencies

as default. Ideal for live stage performances, speeches,

karaoke and more, the PR series wireless microphone

system ensures you never have to worry about microphone

cables again.

Operation

1. Connect your PR wireless receiver’s output connectors

toyourmixerorotherinputdevice.

2. Turn on the PR-800 or PR-900 receiver unit followed by

either the handheld transmitter or bodypack.

3. Wait until the RF meter lights up. This means a

connection has been established between your

transmitter and the receiver.

4. Uponconnection,theAFwillactivateasyouspeakinto

the microphone.

5. Adjustthesensitivitycontrolsasneeded.

Front Panel

1. Sensitivity Control

Usethisrotarycontroltoadjusttheincomingsignallevel

from the wireless microphones.

2. RF Meter

This meter will light up indicating a connection has

been established between the PR wireless system and

the transmitter unit (either the handheld microphone or

bodypack transmitter). There is an RF meter for each

of the wireless channels. The PR-800 features a single

indicator only.

3. AF Meter

TheAFmeterwilllightupwhenaconnectionisestablished

between the transmitter and receiver and a signal is being

receivedfromthetransmitter.There isanAFmeterfor

each of the wireless channels. The PR-800 features a

single indicator only.

4. A-B Balance Control (PR-900 only)

ThisrotarycontroladjuststhebalancebetweentheAand

Bchannels,essentiallylettingyouadjusttheirrespective

levels simultaneously. This is particularly helpful when

using“MixedMode”wherebothchannelswillbecombined

and sent through both channels.

5. Power Switch

Use this power switch to turn the receiver unit on and off.

7. BNC Antenna Connector

The PR wireless system comes complete with either 1 or 2

antennas.ConnectthemtotheseBNCconnectors.Screw

8. Mode Switch (PR-900 only)

Thisswitchhastwooptions:mixedandseparated.When

settomixed,microphonesAandBwillbecombinedand

sentoutbothoutputsAandB.Whentheswitchissetto

separated, the microphone signals will be sent to their

corresponding outputs.

9. Operating Level Switch

This switch lets the user determine the output level of

theAandBoutputs.Whensetto-6,theunitisidealfor

consumer-level application. The 0 and +10 settings are

ideal for professional devices.

10. Output Connectors

Each of the PR wireless system output channels features

balanced ¼” TRS connectors. These are ideal for

connectiontomixingconsolesorotherinputdevices.

Troubleshooting

• Keepaclearline-of-sightbetweenthetransmitterand

receiverantenna.Metalobjectsobstructingthesignal

in particular will reduce the transmission range.

• Trytokeepthedistancebetweenthetransmitterand

receiver as short as possible for optimal performance.

• Keepthereceiver’santennasfullyextendedandas

highaspossibleabovetheoororstage.

• Donotletthereceiverantennastouchoneanother.

• Besuretocarefullytestyourenvironmentbeforeyour

performance. If you find any problem areas/dead

spots, you may want to consider moving the receiver

slightly.Anyproblemareasthatstillremain,mark

them so and be sure to avoid them.

• Asinglereceiverchannelcannotreceivesignalsfrom

two transmitters at the same time.

• Turnthetransmitteroffwhennotinuse.

• Removebatteriesfromthetransmitterwhennotin

use for long periods of time.
