INSTALL
Your Handsfree Car Kit

Motorola recommends that you have your
handsfree car kit installed professionally.
If you prefer to install your handsfree car kit
yourself, follow the instructions in your
handsfree car kit user's guide beginning on
page 6.
Before using this product, read the Important Safety and Legal
Information included in your phone's user's guide, and follow its
instructions.

Turn your vehicle's ignition switch on to turn on
your handsfree car kit. The LED indicator turns on
when the handsfree car kit power is on.
After installation, turn on your handsfree car kit
power:

> Settings > Connection >
Bluetooth Link > Setup.
Scroll to Power.
Press Change.
Scroll to On.
Press Select to turn on the Bluetooth feature.
The Bluetooth feature remains on until you turn it
off.
Note: These steps are for most Motorola phones. For other
phones, see your phone's user's guide.

Your phone's Bluetooth feature is off by default. To
use your handsfree car kit, you must turn on the
Bluetooth feature in your phone.
For most Motorola phones:

Press and hold the Call button.
The Call button LED and the Voice Dial button
LED begin to blink alternately.
If only the Call button LED blinks, press and
hold the Call button until the LED stops
blinking, then repeat step 1.

Before you can use your handsfree car kit, you
must pair (link) it with your phone.

Your Handsfree Car Kit
For most Motorola phones:
Select M (
Menu
)
> Settings > Connection >
Bluetooth Link > Handsfree > Look for Devices.
The phone lists all Bluetooth devices it finds.
Select Motorola HF850.
Press OK or Yes to pair (bond) the handsfree car
kit to your phone.
Enter the passkey: 0000.
Press OK.
When pairing is successful, the Call button LED
and the Voice Dial button LED stop blinking
alternately and the Call button LED is lit steadily.
Note: These steps are for most Motorola phones. For other
phones, see your phone's user's guide.

TEST AND USE
Your phone and handsfree car kit are now paired
and ready to make and receive calls.
To confirm they are successfully paired and
operating properly, make a call:
On your phone, dial the number you want to call.
Press Send on your phone's keypad to make the
call. If your phone and handsfree car kit are
successfully paired, you hear ringing.
After you have successfully paired your phone
and handsfree car kit, you do not need to repeat
these steps.

QUICK TIPS
To answer or end a call, press the
Call button on the handsfree car kit. The Mute
button lights up during the call.
To adjust the volume, press the Volume Up
button or the volume Down button.
To mute a call, press the Mute button.
After Initial pairing, whenever you start your
vehicle, your phone and car kit connect
automatically. The Call button remains on.
When your car ignition is off, you can connect
the car kit to the last phone it used by pressing the
Call button for 1 second. The Call button flashes as
the car kit tries to connect to the phone. When the
car kit connects, the Call button stays lit.

My phone does not find my device.
Make sure your handsfree car kit is in pairing mode
before looking for devices on your phone
(see step 4).
My device worked before but now it's
not working.
Make sure your phone is on and the Bluetooth
feature is turned on in your phone (see step 3). If
the Bluetooth feature is turned off or was turned on
only temporarily, you may need to restart the
Bluetooth feature (see step 3) and pair your phone
and handsfree car kit again (see step 4).
