WARNINGS
It is most important that this instruction book should
be retained with the appliance for future reference.
Should the appliance be sold or transferred to another
owner, or should you move house and leave the
appliance, always ensure that the book is supplied
with the appliance in order that the new owner can be
acquainted with the functioning of the appliance and
the relevant warnings.
These warnings are provided in the interest of safety.
You must read them carefully before installing or
using the appliance.
ª This appliance is designed to be operated by
adults. Children should not be allowed to tamper
with the controls or play with the product.
ª Any electrical work required to install this
appliance should be carried out by a qualified
electrician or competent person.
ª This product should be serviced by an authorized
Service Centre, and only genuine spare parts
should be used.
ª It is dangerous to alter the specifications or
modify this product in any way.
ª Care must be taken to ensure that the appliance
does not stand on the electrical supply cable.
ª The domestic refrigerators and freezers are
designed to be used specifically for the storage of
edible foodstuffs only.
ª Frozen food must not be re-frozen once it has
been thawed out.
ª Manufacturers’ storage recommendations should
be strictly adhered to. Refer to relevant
instructions.
ª There are working parts in this product which
heat up. Always ensure that there is adequate
ventilation as a failure to do this will result in
component failure and possible food loss. See
installation instructions.
ª Parts which heat up should not be exposed.
Wherever possible the back of the product should
be against a wall.
ª Before any cleaning or maintenance work is
carried out, be sure to switch off and unplug the
appliance.
ª If the appliance has been transported
horizontally, it is possible that the oil contained in
the compressor flows in the refrigerant circuit. It
is advisable to wait at least two hours before
connecting the appliance to allow the oil to flow
back in the compressor.
ª The inner lining of the appliance consists of
channels through which the refrigerant passes. If
these should be punctured this would damage the
appliance beyond repair and cause food loss.
DO NOT USE SHARP INSTRUMENTS to
scrape off frost or ice. Frost may be removed by
using the scraper provided. Under no
circumstances should solid ice be forced off the
liner. Solid ice should be allowed to thaw when
defrosting the appliance. See defrost instructions.
ª Do not place carbonated or fizzy drinks in the
freezer as it creates pressure on the container,
which may cause it to explode, resulting in
damage to the appliance.
ª This appliance is heavy. Care should be taken
when moving it.
ª Ice lollies can cause frost burns if consumed
straight from the appliance.
ª Under no circumstances should you attempt to
repair the appliance yourself.
Repairs carried out by inexperienced persons
may cause injury or more serious malfunctioning.
Refer to your local Service Centre, and always
insist on genuine spare parts.
ª This appliance does not contain gasses which could
damage the ozone layer, in either its refrigerant
circuit or insulation materials; it must nevertheless
be disposed of in a proper manner, in accordance
with regulations for protection of the environment.

INSTALLATION
If this appliance featuring magnetic door seals is to
replace an older appliance having a spring lock on the
door or lid, be sure to make that spring lock unusable
before you discard the old appliance. This will prevent
it from becoming a death-trap for a child.
Location
The appliance should be installed well away from
sources of heat such as radiators, boilers, direct
sunlight etc.
Best performance is obtained with ambient
temperature between +18°C and +43°C (class T);
+18°C and +38°C (class ST); +16°C and +32°C (class
N); +10°C and +32°C (class SN).
The class of your appliance is shown on its rating
plate.
Make sure that there is nothing at the back, at the
top and at the bottom of the appliance to obstruct
air circulation.
For more efficient operation of the appliance the
minimum distance between the top of the appliance
and other overhanging kitchen furniture, if any,
should be at least 100 mm (Fig. 1-A).
The best solution is shown in Fig. 1-B (without
overhanging kitchen furniture).
The appliance sides may also be in contact with the
kitchen furniture, provided that air can circulate
freely round the back and top.
One or more adjustable feet mounted on the base of
the appliance make it possible to set it perfectly
level.
Fig. 1
Rear spacers
The plastic bag containing all relevant
documentation also contains two spacers to be fitted
into special holes in the back of the appliance.
Fit the spacers into the holes, taking care to ensure
that the arrow (A) is positioned as shown in Fig. 2.
Then turn them through 45° (arrow (A) vertical)
until they lock into place.

Power connection
Before plugging the appliance into the mains
socket, check that the voltage and frequency
indicated on the appliance’s rating plate are the
same as those provided by your home power supply.
A 6% fluctuation above or below rated voltage is
acceptable.
Make sure the plug and the socket are compatible so
that no adaptors need to be used. If necessary,
replace the socket with a suitable one.
The appliance MUST be connected to an efficient
earth or ground tap.
The supply-lead plug in fact incorporates a special
earth or ground contact for this purpose. If by any
chance the sockets of your domestic wiring system
are not earthed, the appliance must be connected to
a separate earth or ground wire by a qualified
electrician, in accordance with existing safety
regulations.
The manufacturer declines to accept any liability if
this accident-prevention procedure is not followed.
This appliance complies with the relevant UNI
standards and with E.E.C. Directive No. 87/308 of
02.06.87 relative to radio interference suppression.
This appliance complies with the following
E.E.C. Directives:
- 73/23 EEC of 19.2.73 (Low Voltage Directive) and
subsequent modifications;
- 89/336 EEC of 3.5.89 (Electromagnetic
Compatibility Directive) and subsequent
modifications.
Cleaning the appliance’s interior
Before using the appliance for the first time, wash
all internal parts with lukewarm water and neutral
soap so as to remove the typical «new» smell and
then dry thoroughly.
Do not use detergents or abrasive powders as these
will damage the finish.

Door reversal directions
Before starting work, unplug the appliance. To
reverse the opening direction of the door proceed as
follows:
Remove the lower hinge (3), the pin (1), the washer
(4) and the screw (2);
slide the door out from the pin (5), remove the pin
and place it on the opposite side;
unscrew the foot front left and place it on the
opposite side;
unscrew the two screws which mask the holes for
fixing the hinge on the front left side;
reassemble the door;
refit the lower hinge (turning it 180°), the washer,
the pin and the screw on the opposite side, as shown
in the figure.
remove the handle, after having removed the screw
cover and refit it on the opposite side.
The holes that are not used must be masked with
the plastic plugs removed.
Attention
After completion of the door reversibility operation,
check that the door gasket adheres to the cabinet. If
the ambient temperature is cold (i.e. in Winter), the
gasket may not fit perfectly to the cabinet. In that
case, wait for the natural fitting of the gasket or
accelerate this process by heating up the part
involved with a normal hairdrier.
Fitting the door panel
(for models equipped with door frame)
To fit the door panel, proceed as follows:
remove the fixing screws and remove the frame
side opposite the handle;
loosen, without removing them, all remaining
screws fixing the door frame;
insert the panel from the side on which the frame
has been removed and push it fully in;
refit the frame side and tighten all the screws.
Note
The panel size should be 1-2 mm smaller than the
door; the maximum permissible panel thickness is
4 mm.

USE
Start-up - Temperature regulation
After plugging in the appliance, turn the
thermostat knob, located at the top right of the
fridge, clockwise to the required position (beyond
position «O» - off). A medium setting is
recommended.
Temperature is kept constant automatically and can
be increased by turning the knob to lower numbers,
or reduced by turning it to higher numbers.
Proper setting is achieved by bearing in mind that
the temperature inside the fridge depends on the
following factors:
room temperature;
number of times the door is opened;
amount of food stored;
location of the appliance.
To turn the appliance off, set the thermostat knob to
«O».
At the lowest temperature setting, when the appliance
is full and room temperature is high, the compressor
may operate continuously and frost forms on the
evaporator of the frezeer compartment. In this case,
turn the knob to a less cold setting so that the
evaporator can be automatically defrosted with a
lower power consumption.
Food refrigeration
To achieve the best results with the refrigerator
compartment, you should follow one or two very
simple rules:
Do not put warm foods or evaporating liquids in the
refrigerator. Cover or wrap foods (particularly if
they have a strong smell). Do not cover the shelves
(grids) with paper or plastic since this blocks
circulation of air in the compartment.
Hints for correct use
Raw meat: wrap in polythene bags and place on top
of the salad crisper and, for safety, only store in this
way for one or two days at the most.
Cooked foods, cold dishes, etc.: these should be
covered and stored on the fridge shelves.
Fruit & vegetables: these should be thoroughly
cleaned and placed in the bottom salad crisper.
Butter & cheese: these should be placed in special
airtight containers or wrapped in aluminium foil or
polythene bags to exclude as much air as possible.
Milk bottles: these should have a cap and should be
stored in the bottle rack on the door.
Movable wire shelves

equipped with a
series of runners
so that the
shelves can be
positioned as
desired.

Positioning the door shelves
To permit storage of food packages of various sizes,
the door shelves can be adjusted in height.
To make these adjustments proceed as follows:
Gradually pull the shelf in the direction of the
arrows until it comes free, then reposition as
required (Fig. 5-6).
Fig. 5
For more thorough cleaning, the top door shelf can
be removed by pulling it in the direction of the
arrows, then refitting it in position (Fig. 6).
Fig. 6
D064
D066
Defrosting
Frost is automatically eliminated from the
evaporator of the refrigerator compartment every
time the motor compressor stops, during normal
use. The defrost water drains out through a trough
(Fig. 7) into a special container on the back of the
appliance where it evaporates.
Clean periodically the water drain hole (Fig. 7). Use
the special cleaner provided, which you will find
already inserted into the drain hole.
Fig. 7
Refrigeration of drinks
(for models fitted with dispenser)
The dispenser for drinks refrigeration is located in
the storage door and can be easily removed for
cleaning.
For dispenser use, press the glass forward against
the tap; when you remove the glass, the tap closes
automatically.
Let warm water cool in the dispenser and then
clean it. For proper cleaning, add a spoonful of
sodium bicarbonate to the water; open and close the
tap several times in order to remove sugar deposits
and finally empty the dispenser and rinse it with
clean water.

MAINTENANCE
Unplug the appliance before carrying out any
maintenance operation.
Periodic cleaning
Never use metal objects for cleaning your appliance
as it may get damaged.
Clean the inside with warm water and bicarbonate
of soda.
Rinse and dry thoroughly.
Periods of non-operation
When the appliance is not in use for long periods,
take the following precautions:
remove the plug from the wall socket;
remove all food;
defrost and clean the interior and all accessories;
leave the door ajar to allow air to circulate to
prevent unpleasant smells.
Interior light bulb
The light bulb inside the refrigerator compartment
can be reached as follows:
ª unscrew the light cover securing screws;
ª unhook the moving part by pressing it as shown
in the figure.
If the door is open and the light does not come on,
check that the bulb is properly screwed in; if it still
does not work, replace the bulb with one of the
same power.
The maximum rating is shown on the light cover.
Fig. 8

SERVICING
If the appliance is not functioning properly check
that:
the plug is firmly in the wall socket and the mains
power switch is on;
there is no power failure; the control knob is in the
right position.
Furthermore, if the appliance seems too noisy check
that the sides are not touching furniture that can
transmit or amplify noise or vibration. Also, check
that the refrigerant unit does not vibrate.
If there is water on the fridge bottom, make sure
the defrost water drainage hole is not clogged
(Fig. 7).
To clean the drainage hole use the special cleaner
provided, which you will find already inserted into
the hole.
If your appliance is still not working properly after
making the above checks, contact your local dealer
or the nearest service center.
To obtain fast service, it is essential that when you
apply for it you specify the model and serial number of
your appliance which can be found on the warranty
certificate or inside the appliance on the rating plate.
