Channel5and35(pairedforDuplexrepeaters)arereservedasemergencychannelsandshouldbe
usedonlyinanemergency.CTCSSandDCSwillnotoperateonchannels5and35.
AlistofcurrentlyauthorisedchannelscanbeobtainedfromtheACMAwebsiteinAustraliaandthe
MEDwebsiteinNewZealand.Channel11isacallingchannelgenerallyusedtocallothersand
channel40isthecustomaryroadvehiclechannel.
Oncecontactisestablishedonthecallingchannel,bothstationsshouldmovetoanotherunused
“SIMPLEX”channeltoallowotherstousethecallingchannel.
Channels22and23areforTelemetryandTelecommanduse,voicecommunicationsare
notallowedonthesechannelsbylaw.Channel9andabovearethebestchoicesforgeneral
useinSimplexmode.

NolicenceisrequiredtoownoroperatethisradioinAustraliaandNewZealand.The
Radiocommunications(CitizenBandRadioStations)ClassLicence2002containsthetechnical
parameters,operatingrequirements,conditionsoflicenceandrelevantstandardsforCitizenBand
(CB)radios.CBradiosmustcomplywiththe classlicencefortheirusetobeauthorisedunderthe
classlicence.
UHFchannelsandfrequencies
