in this manual.
IMPORTANT:
The FTC-14 (Finger T
ip Control) is equipped with a 14-pin Amphenol plug for connection to the power
source.
The FTC-23 (Finger Tip Control) is equipped with a 5-pin Amphenol plug for connection to the power source.
Contact your local distributor for correct adapter if Amphenol plug on FTC-14/FTC-23 does not mate with intended
power source receptacle.
WARNING: ELECTRIC SHOCK can kill.
Do not touch live electrical parts.
Shut
down welding power source, and be sure it cannot be accidentally energized before making re
-
mote control connections.
Be sure remote switch is fully in the off position before turning on or off the welding power source.
A. Installation
1. The
remote control consists of a 28 ft. (8.5 mm) electrical cord with an Amphenol plug on one
end and a finger tip
control switch device on the other. Position the supplied switch on the electrode holder gun so that the
operator’s thumb can manipulate the rotating switch.
2. Secure the switch in position by taping it to the electrode holder gun with insulated electrical tape.
3. The remote control is connected to the REMOTE CONTACTOR AND CURRENT receptacle on the welding
power
source as follows: align keyway
, insert plug into receptacle, and rotate threaded collar fully clockwise.
B. Operation
The
remote control is both a remote contactor control and a remote current control device. Initial clockwise rotation of
the control will close the contactor circuitry and energize the welding power source.
Continued
clockwise rotation of the control will increase the output current level up to that established by the welding
power source CURRENT CONTROL setting.
Rotating the control fully counterclockwise reduces the current output to zero and deenergizes the contactor.
