1. Remove the ashtray and (3) screws
from the ashtray bracket. Remove
(1) screw from each side of the
dash console and unsnap the trim
bezel. (Figure A)
Continue to kit assembly

1.
Remove the driver’s side speaker panel by
removing (3) screws and (1) 10mm bolt.
Remove (1) screw from the left side of the
housing and unsnap the ignition cover. Remove
the glove compartment assembly by removing
(1) 10mm bolt from the bottom of the speaker
panel and (3) screws from the right side of the
housing. Remove the remaining (3) screws
securing the radio trim bezel. (Figure A)

CAUTION!
All accessories, switches, climate controls panels, and especially air bag indica
-
tor lights must be connected before cycling the ignition. Also, do not remove the factory
radio with the key in the on position, or the vehicle running.

1.
Open the center armrest door. Unsnap the parking
brake trim panel to access the gear shifter trim panel.
Unsnap the gear shifter trim panel and remove.
Remove the climate control knobs. Remove the climate
control trim plate and (2) Phillips screws exposed.
Unclip the radio trim bezel and remove. Remove
(4) Phillips screws securing the factory radio and
disconnect the wiring. (Figure A)

1.
Remove (2) screws above the climate controls
and gently unsnap the dash trim bezel. Remove
(4) screws securing the factory radio and
disconnect the wiring. (Figure A)

Remove (3) Phillips screws above the climate
controls. Remove (2) Phillips screws from the
left side of the dash trim bezel and remove the
bezel. Remove the screws securing the factory
radio and disconnect the wiring

1.
Remove (2) screws from the lower steering column
panel and remove the panel. Remove (2) screws
exposed on the dash trim bezel. Open the glove
box and remove (2) screws exposed. Remove (2)
screws from the ashtray cavity and (2) screws
from the bracket. Remove (2) screws from each
side of the dash trim bezel and unclip the bezel.
Remove the screws securing the factory radio and
disconnect the wiring. (Figure A

1.
Remove the ashtray and the climate control knobs.
Remove (3) flat-head screws from the climate
control panel and remove the panel. Remove (2)
Phillips screws from the top edge of the radio trim
bezel. Remove (4) Phillips screws from the base of
the radio trim bezel and remove the bezel. Remove
(4) Phillips screws from the factory radio and
disconnect the wiring. (Figure A

Carefully pry up on the gear shifter trim panel
and remove. Remove (2) screws exposed on the
bottom edge of the radio trim panel. Unsnap the
panel and disconnect the ashtray and cigarette

Remove (2) Phillips screws from each side of the
console trim bezel. Remove (4) screws securing
the factory radio and disconnect the wiring.

1.
Remove (1) screw located to the right of the
ignition switch. Remove (1) screw located above
the driver’s side speaker. Carefully unsnap the
dash trim bezel (some force may be required).

Remove (4) screws from the top edge of the
instrument trim bezel and (2) screws below the
radio opening. Remove (1) screw from the lower-
left tab of the bezel (to the right of the a/c vent)
and unsnap the bezel. (Figure A)

1.
Remove the climate control knobs, unsnap the
upper trim bezel and disconnect the hazard and
clock leads. Remove (2) screws from the lower
trim bezel and remove. (Figure A)

1.
Remove (3) screws from the lower edge of the
climate control panel. Remove (8) screws from the
perimeter of the dash trim bezel. Pull out on the
lower edge of the bezel and remove. Remove the
screws securing the factory radio and disconnect
the wiring. (Figure A)

1.
Remove the climate control knobs and unsnap the
dash trim bezel. Disconnect the clock and hazard
leads. (Figure A)

bezel and remove the bezel. Remove (4) screws
from the factory radio (or coin tray dummy panel)

1.
Unclip the bottom of the radio trim bezel. Unhook
the top of the radio trim bezel and remove the
bezel. Remove (4) 8mm Phillips screws securing
the factory radio and disconnect the wiring.

1.
Remove the ashtray and (2) screws from the
ashtray cavity. Unsnap and remove the shifter
console bezel. Remove (1) screw below the
ignition switch and remove the dash trim bezel.

Pry up on the radio trim bezel and remove.
Remove (4) Phillips screws securing the factory
radio and disconnect the wiring. Remove the
screws securing the factory cupholder to the
assembly and remove. Remove the screws
securing the factory ashtray/cigarette lighter to the
assembly and remove. (Figure A)

1. Pull the cupholder out and unsnap the trim bezel
from the dash. (Figure A)
2. Remove (4) screws securing the factory radio and
disconnect the wiring.

2. Unsnap the climate control trim panel and
remove (2) screws exposed. (Figure A)
3. Gently unclip the dash trim bezel, lift up on the
panel and remove.

1.
Remove (1) Phillips screw located above the
ignition switch. Remove the climate control
knobs. Unclip the dash trim bezel and remove.
Remove (4) Phillips screws securing the
factory radio assembly and disconnect the
wiring. Remove (2) screws securing the factory
cupholder to the assembly and remove. Remove
(4) screws securing the ashtray/cigarette lighter
to the assembly and remove. (Figure A)

1.
Pry up on the radio trim bezel and remove.
Remove (4) Phillips screws securing the factory
radio and disconnect the wiring. Remove the
screws securing the factory cupholder to the
assembly and remove. Remove the screws
securing the factory ashtray/cigarette lighter to
the assembly and remove. (Figure A)

Tercel 1995-1998
1.
Unclip the bottom of the radio trim bezel. Unhook
the top of the radio trim bezel and remove the
bezel. Remove (4) 8mm Phillips screws securing
the factory radio and disconnect the wiring.

IMPORTANT
If you are having difficulties with the
installation of this product, please call our
Tech Support line at 1-800-253-TECH.
Before doing so, look over the instructions a
second time, and make sure the installation
was performed exactly as the instructions
are stated. Please have the vehicle apart
and ready to perform troubleshooting steps
before calling.

1. Remove the mounting brackets from the
factory radio assembly.
2. Align the holes in the factory mounting
brackets with the holes in the pocket, and
then secure with the (4) screws removed in
dash disassembly. (Figure A)
3. Remove the metal DIN sleeve and trim ring
from the aftermarket radio.
4. Slide the radio in the bracket/pocket
assembly using the (4) screws supplied with
the radio.
5. Locate the factory wiring harness and
antenna connector in the dash, and
complete all necessary connections to the
radio. Metra recommends using the proper
mating adapter from Metra and/or AXXESS.
Re-connect the negative battery terminal
and test the radio for proper operation.
6. Reassemble the dash in reverse order of
disassembly
