Read this before using the speaker.
• Toassurethenestperformance,pleasereadthis
manualcarefully.Keepitinasafeplaceforfuture
reference.
• Installthespeakerinacool,dry,cleanplace–away
fromwindows,heatsources,sourcesofexcessive
vibration,dust,moistureandcold.Avoidsourcesof
humming(transformers,motors).Topreventreor
electricalshock,donotexposethespeakertorainor
water.
• Topreventtheenclosurefromwarpingordiscoloring,
donotplacethespeakerwhereitwillbeexposedto
directsunlightorexcessivehumidity.
• Donotplacethefollowingobjectsonthespeaker:
Glass,china,etc.
Ifglassetc.fallsbyvibrationsandbreaks,itmay
causepersonalinjury.
Aburningcandleetc.
Ifthecandlefallsbyvibrations,itmaycausereand
personalinjury.
Avesselwithwaterinit
Ifthevesselfallsbyvibrationsandwaterspills,it
maycausedamagetothespeaker,and/oryoumay
getanelectricshock.
• Donotplacethespeakerwhereforeignobjectssuchas
waterdripsmightfall.Itmightcauseare,damageto
thespeaker,and/orpersonalinjury.
• Donotplacethespeakerwhereitisliabletobe
knockedoverorstruckbyfallingobjects.Stable
placementwillalsoensurebettersoundperformance.
PRECAUTIONS
• Placingthespeakeronthesameshelforrackasthe
turntablecanresultinfeedback.
• Neverputahandoraforeignobjectintotheport
locatedontherearofthespeakerasthismightcause
personalinjuryand/ordamagetothespeaker.
• Whenmovingthespeaker,donotholdtheportasit
mightcausepersonalinjuryand/ordamagetothe
speaker.
• Anytimeyounotedistortion,reducethevolumecontrol
onyourampliertoalowersetting.Neverallowyour
ampliertobedriveninto“clipping”.Otherwisethe
speakermaybedamaged.
• Whenusinganamplierwitharatedoutputpower
higherthanthenominalinputpowerofthespeaker,
careshouldbetakennevertoexceedthespeaker’s
maximuminput.
• Donotattempttocleanthespeakerwithchemical
solventsasthismightdamagethenish.Useaclean,
drycloth.
• Donotattempttomodifyorxthespeaker.Contact
qualiedYamahaservicepersonnelwhenanyserviceis
needed.Thecabinetshouldneverbeopenedforany
reasons.
• Secureplacementorinstallationistheowners
responsibility.
Yamahashallnotbeliableforanyaccidentcaused
byimproperplacementorinstallationofthespeaker.
Takingcareofthespeaker
Tomaintainthespotlessglossysurfaceofthe
polishednish,wipeitwithasoft,drycloth.To
avoiddamagetothenish,donotapplychemical
solvents,suchasalcohol,benzine,thinner,
insecticide,etc.Also,donotuseadampcloth,or
anytypeofcloththatcontainschemicalsolvents,or
placeaplasticorvinylsheetontopofthespeaker.
Otherwise,thenishmaypeel,thecolormayfade,
orthesheetmaysticktothesurface.

WARNING
• Thisspeakerweighs5.9kg(13lbs.).Donotmount
itonthinplywoodorawallwithsoftsurface
material.Ifmounted,thescrewsmaycomeoutof
theimsysurfaceandthespeakermayfall.This
damagesthespeakerorcausespersonalinjury.
• Donotinstallthespeakertoawallwithnails,
adhesives,oranyotherunstablehardware.Long-
termuseandvibrationsmaycauseittofall.
• Becarefulnottopinchthespeakercablesbetween
thespeakerandthespeakerbracketorspeaker

Placethespeakersonasturdy,vibration-freesurface,ona
well-builtstand.
Usingas2chstereospeakers
Betterstereoimageswillbeobtainedwhenthespeakers
areslightlyangledintowardsthelisteners.
Usingasfrontspeakersinamultichannel
system
PositionthespeakersonbothsidesoftheTV.Theposition-
ingofspeakersisimportant,becauseitcontrolsthewhole
soundqualityofamultichannelsystem.Setupthespeak-
ersonthebasisofyourlisteningpositionbyfollowingthe
owner’smanualsuppliedwithyouramplier.
Usingaspresenceorsurroundspeakers
Placethespeakersonashelfetc.Determinethebest
positionbyfollowingtheowner’smanualsuppliedwithyour
amplier.
Note
PlacingthespeakerstooclosetoaCRT-typeTV
mayimpairthepicturecolororcauseabuzzing
noise.Inthiscase,movethespeakersatleast20cm
(8”)awayfromtheTV.ThisisnotanissuewithLCD
andplasmaTVs.

soundquality.Therefore,werecommendyoutopurchase
ahigh-qualityspeakercabletoexerttheperformanceof
thisunit.
Notes
• Connectthe(+)terminalsontheamplierandthe
speakersusingonesideofthecable.Connectthe
(–)terminalsonbothcomponentsusingtheother
sideofthecable.
• Connectonespeakertotheleft(L)terminalsof
youramplier,andanotherspeakertotheright(R)
terminals,makingsurenottoreversethepolarity
(+,–).Ifonespeakerisconnectedwithreversed
polarity,thesoundwillbeunnaturalandlackbass.
• Whenusinganamplierwitharatedoutput
powerhigherthanthenominalinputpowerofthe
speaker,careshouldbetakennevertoexceedthe
speaker’smaximuminput.
• Thespeakermaybedamagedifcertainsounds
arecontinuouslyoutputathighvolumelevel.
Forexample,ifsinewavesfromatestdisc,bass
soundsfromelectronicinstruments,etc.,are
continuouslyoutput,orwhenthestylusofa
turntabletouchesthesurfaceofadisc,reducethe
volumeleveltopreventthespeakerfrombeing
damaged.
• Pleaserefertotheowner’smanualthatcamewith
youramplierorreceiver.
Howtoconnect:
1 Loosentheknob.
2 Remove15mm(5/8”)ofinsulationfromeachendof
thecables,andtwisttheexposedconductorstogether
neatlyandtightly,asshownbelow.
