KEY SWITCH
The key switch is mounted on the dash to the right of the steering column
(Figure 3)
. It has two positions, OFF
and ON, which are clearly labeled.
See following NOTE.
NOTE:
The key can be removed only when the key switch is in the OFF position.
FORWARD/REVERSE SWITCH
The Forward/Reverse rocker switch is located on the seat support panel, below and to the right of the driver’s
right knee. The
F
(FORWARD) and
R
(REVERSE) positions are clearly marked. Push down the FORWARD
side of the switch to operate the vehicle in the forward direction, or push down the REVERSE side of the
switch to operate the vehicle in reverse. When the rocker switch is positioned in the NEUTRAL position, with
neither side down, the vehicle will not operate if the accelerator pedal is pressed
(Figure 4)
. The reverse
buzzer will sound as a warning when the Forward/Reverse switch is in the REVERSE position.
ACCELERATOR PEDAL
The accelerator pedal is the pedal on the right, with the word GO molded into it
(Figure 5, Page 13)
. The
operation of the accelerator pedal differs from that of an automobile. When the key switch is ON, and the For-
ward/Reverse switch is in either the FORWARD or REVERSE position, pressing the accelerator pedal will
automatically release the park brake and start the vehicle moving in the direction selected (forward or
reverse). As the accelerator pedal is pressed, speed will increase until full speed is reached. When the accel-
erator is released, power will be cut off and the motor will stop running.

TOW/RUN SWITCH
WARNING
Place Tow/Run switch in the TOW position before disconnecting or connecting the batteries.
Failure to heed this warning could result in a battery explosion or severe personal injury.
When the Tow/Run switch is in the TOW position, all motor braking functions, including zero-
speed detect, are disabled.
The vehicle is equipped with a Tow/Run switch, located under the seat just above the Forward/Reverse switch
(Figure 8)
. The switch must be in the RUN position in order to operate the vehicle. When the switch is in the
TOW position, power to the vehicle electrical components is turned off and the vehicle will not operate.
See
following NOTE.
NOTE:
After placing the Tow/Run switch in the TOW position, allow 10 seconds to elapse before switching
back to the RUN position.
After placing the Tow/Run switch in the RUN position, allow 10 seconds to elapse before operating
the vehicle.
The Tow/Run switch should be placed in the TOW position under the following conditions:
Before Towing the Vehicle:
Place the Tow/Run switch in the TOW position to disable all motor braking
functions, thus preventing possible damage that could occur to the vehicle or electrical components if
the vehicle is towed while the Zero-Speed Detect motor braking function is operating.
Before Disconnecting or Connecting Battery Cables:
Place the Tow/Run switch in the TOW position
to turn off power to the vehicle electrical system, thus preventing severe arcing and possible battery
explosion as the battery wires are disconnected.
For Long Term Storage:
Place the Tow/Run switch in the TOW position to turn off power to the vehicle
electrical system, thus preventing vehicle electrical components from discharging the batteries.

BATTERY CONDITION INDICATOR
The battery condition indicator is located on the dash panel to the left of the steering column
(Figure 9)
. It fea-
tures a 10-bar LED display that, when the vehicle is in operation, displays the level of battery capacity, mea-
suring battery voltage over a period of time.
When batteries are fully charged, all indicator lights will be on. When battery voltage drops below 75% of full
discharge, the last two indicator lights will flash alternately. Continued use of vehicle after indicator lights
begin flashing without recharging the batteries could result in decreased vehicle performance.
NOTE:
If battery condition indicator moves rapidly (within approximately 45 minutes) from full charge to
empty, there may be a problem with the wiring or with a battery cell. If indicator display does not
reset back to full after recharging, there may be a problem with the battery charger or with one of the
batteries. In either case the vehicle should be checked by a Club Car dealer or a trained technician.
BATTERY WARNING LIGHT
The dash-mounted battery warning light, located above the steering column, indicates low battery voltage
when the vehicle is in operation or indicates a charging problem when the vehicle is being charged
(Figure 9)
.
The battery warning light is controlled by the onboard computer.
When the vehicle is in operation, the battery warning light will illuminate and remain illuminated if:
Batteries’ voltage drops below 48 volts when there is no load on the batteries (the vehicle is stopped
and there are no accessories on).
Batteries have discharged to less than 25% of rated capacity.
If the battery warning light illuminates when the vehicle is operating, there will be enough power remaining to
drive the vehicle for approximately 30 minutes. However, the vehicle should be charged at the first opportunity.
If the battery warning light illuminates and the vehicle is unable to operate for 30 minutes, have your Club Car
dealer/distributor check the vehicle for a possible battery or electrical system problem.
When the batteries receive an incomplete charge because 1) the DC power cord is disconnected, 2) AC
power to the charger is interrupted, 3) automatic charger shut-off occurs after 16 hours of operation, or 4) the
charger malfunctions, the battery warning light will indicate as follows:
The battery warning light will not illuminate if the charge is 90% or more complete. The onboard com-
puter will retain in memory the amount of charge needed to fully replenish the batteries and will com-
plete the charge during the next charge cycle.

When the charger is unplugged, the battery warning light will illuminate and remain illuminated for 10
seconds if the charge is less than 90% complete but the vehicle has enough power for approximately
30 minutes of operation. This will alert the operator that the vehicle may be used, but that it must be
charged to completion as soon as possible.
The battery warning light will repeatedly illuminate for 10 seconds, with 4 second intervals if the
charger times out at 16 hours and the batteries are not sufficiently charged.
See the charger owner’s
manual.
This indicates an abnormal charge cycle. The charger and batteries should be checked by
your Club Car dealer/distributor.
The battery warning light will repeatedly illuminate for 10 seconds, with 4 second intervals during a
charge cycle (DC plug is still connected) if AC power to the charger is interrupted. The light will go out
when AC power is restored.
LED Light: In addition to the battery warning light, there is an infrared LED in the dash light assembly, which
transmits an infrared signal from the onboard computer. This signal can be received by the optional Commu-
nication Display Module, which provides information on the condition of the vehicle and batteries.
HEADLAMPS/TAILLAMPS
The headlamp/taillamp control switch is located on the front dash below the battery condition indicator
(Figure 9). Pull the knob out to turn the lamps on and push the knob in to turn the lamps off.
BRAKE LAMPS
The brake lamps illuminate when the brake pedal is pressed. When the park brake is activated, the brake
lamps will turn off. See following NOTE.
NOTE: When the key switch is in the OFF position, the brake lamps are disabled.
TURN SIGNALS
The turn signal switch is located on the steering column (Figure 10, Page 15). Move the handle up to indicate
a right-hand turn. Move the handle down to indicate a left-hand turn. Return the handle to the center position
after completing a turn.
HAZARD LAMPS
The hazard lamp switch is located just below the turn signal switch (Figure 10, Page 15). To activate the haz-
ard lamps, make sure that the turn signal switch is in the center (off) position, and pull the switch marked "haz-
ard" until it is locked in place by the turn signal switch. To deactivate the hazard lamps, move the turn signal
switch in either direction and return it to the center position.
HORN
The horn button is located on the floorboard to the left of the brake pedal (Figure 10, Page 15). Press button
with foot to activate horn.
SAFETY BELTS
The vehicle is equipped with safety belts for each occupant. Club Car strongly urges that the vehicle’s occu-
pants be properly restrained at all times with the safety belts provided.
Safety Belts
IR Industrial Electric Vehicle Owner’s Manual Page 17
Pregnant woman: Consult your doctor for specific recommendations. The safety belt should be worn securely
and as low as possible over the hips and not on the waist.
Injured person: Depending on the injury, first check with your doctor for specific recommendations.
To secure safety belt, sit up straight and well back in the seat. Pull safety belt out of the retractor and insert the
tab into the buckle. A click will be heard when the tab locks into the buckle. Position the lap belt as low as pos-
sible on the hips – not on the waist, then adjust it to a snug fit by pulling the shoulder portion upward through
the latch plate (Figure 11).
The retractor will lock the belt during a sudden stop. It also may lock if the person leans forward too quickly. A
slow, easy motion will allow the belt to extend, and the person can move around freely. If the safety belt cannot
be pulled out of the retractor, firmly pull the belt and release it. It should then pull smoothly out of the retractor.
To release the safety belt, press the buckle release button and allow the belt to retract. If the belt does not
retract smoothly, pull it out and check for kinks or twists. Then make sure it remains free of twists as it retracts
(Figure 12).
The four-passenger vehicle is also equipped with two lap belts for passengers sitting in the rear-facing seat.
To secure safety belt, pull the belt across the hips and insert the tab into the buckle. Adjust the belt to a snug
fit by pulling on the adjuster strap.
WARNING
Driver and passengers must be restrained at all times with safety belts provided to help
prevent injury in the event of sudden braking or collision.
After inserting the tab, make sure the tab and buckle are locked and that the belt is not
twisted.
Make sure the shoulder belt is positioned across the center of the shoulder. The belt should
be kept away from the neck, but not falling off the shoulder. Failure to do so could reduce the
amount of protection and increase the chance of injury.
Do not place the shoulder belt under arm.
High-positioned safety belts and loose fitting safety belts could increase the chance of injury
due to sliding under the belt if sudden braking should occur. Keep the safety belt snug and
positioned as low on the hip bone as possible.
Use a single safety belt for one person at a time. Do not use a single safety belt for two or
more people – this includes children.
No more than two people per seat at one time. Do not allow people to ride in any part of the
vehicle that is not equipped with a seat and a safety belt. Do not allow a third person to sit in
the middle of the seat or let a passenger hold a child in his or her lap while the vehicle is
moving.
The Club Car vehicle is not designed to meet child seat compatibility requirements.
CAUTION
Be careful not to damage the safety belt webbing or hardware.
Inspect the safety belt system periodically. Check for cuts, fraying, and loose parts. Damaged
parts should be replaced immediately. Do not disassemble or modify the system.

Pre-Operation and Daily Safety Checklist
Page 18 IR Industrial Electric Vehicle Owner’s Manual
•Keep safety belts clean and dry. If cleaning is necessary, use a mild soap and lukewarm water
solution. Do not use bleach, dye or abrasive cleaners as they may severely weaken the safety
belts.
Do not insert coins, clip, etc. in the buckle as this may prevent the tab from locking into the
buckle properly.
If the safety belt does not function normally, contact your Club Car dealer/distributor
immediately. Do not occupy the seat until the safety belt is repaired.
PRE-OPERATION AND DAILY SAFETY CHECKLIST
Each vehicle has been thoroughly inspected and adjusted at the factory; however, upon receiving your new
vehicle you should become familiar with its controls, indicators, and operation. Carefully inspect the vehicle to
ensure that it is in proper working condition before accepting delivery.
Use the following checklist as a guide to inspect the vehicle. This checklist should be used daily to ensure that
the vehicle is in proper working condition and in conjunction with the Periodic Service Schedule on page 25.
Any problems should be corrected by a Club Car dealer/distributor or a trained technician.
General: All the parts should be in place and properly installed. Be sure that all nuts, bolts, and screws
are tight.
Safety and information decals: Check to ensure that all safety and information decals are in place.
See pages 4 through 7.
Safety belts: Visually inspect for cuts, fraying, and loose parts. See Safety Belts on page 16.
Tires: Check for proper tire pressure, wear, and damage. If tires are worn or damaged, replace them
immediately. See Vehicle Specifications on page 33.
Batteries: Check electrolyte to ensure that it is at its proper level (Figure 14, Page 28). Check battery
posts. Wires should be tight and free of corrosion. Charge batteries fully before first use of vehicle.
Charger cord, plug, and receptacle: Visually inspect for cracks, loose connections, and frayed wiring.
See Plug and Receptacle on page 31.
