2. Application
The appliance and all parts included in the scope of delivery are intended for private use and must only be
used:
to keep the surface of garden ponds ice-free
in compliance with the technical data
The following limitations apply to the appliance:
do not use for commercial or industrial purposes
do not use together with caustic, inammable, aggressive or explosive substances, salt water or
drinking water
do not use in swimming ponds
3. Safety instructions
Risks for persons and property can arise from this appliance if the appliance
is improperly used or not used as intended or if the safety instructions are not
heeded.
For your safety
Do not let the appliance packaging get into the hands of children as
hazards can arise (danger of suocation!).
This appliance can be used by children from the age of 8 and by per

sons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of
experience and/or knowledge if they are supervised and have been
instructed in the safe use of the appliance and have understood the
resulting dangers. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning
and user maintenance must not be carried out by children unless they
are supervised.
Before use, carry out a visual inspection to ensure that the appliance,
especially the mains cable and plug, are undamaged.
Do not use the appliance if it is not working properly or is damaged.
Never use the appliance with a damaged mains cable.

This heater is equipped with a thermal protector. In order to avoid a
hazard due to inadvertent resetting of the thermal cu-out, this appliance
must not be supplied through an external switching device, such as a
timer, or a separated remote-control system.
Danger of burning! The appliance is very hot during and directly after

Do not operate the appliance outside of the water.
A hot appliance must never be placed on heat-sensitive surfaces!
After disconnection from the mains, the appliance must be left in the
water for 30 minutes in order to cool down.
The electrical installations must comply with the international and
national erection specications.
The appliance must be protected by a residual current protection device
with a maximum rated residual current of 30 mA. Please contact an
electrician if there are any questions or problems.
If they are not being used, always disconnect all devices in the pond
from the power supply before you install/remove any parts and before
all cleaning and maintenance work.
The electrical data of the appliance must match the data of the power
mains. This data is found on the type plate, the packaging and in these
instructions.
Extension cables and power distributors must be suitable for outdoor
use (protected against splashing water).
Mains connection cables must not have a smaller cross-section than
rubber hose lines with the abbreviation H05RN-F3G0,75. Extension
cables must meet the requirements of DIN VDE 0620.
The mains connection cable of this appliance cannot be replaced. If the
cable is damaged, the appliance must be scrapped.

Protect the mains socket and mains plug against moisture
and wetness. A drip loop must be formed with the mains

5. Operation
Switching on the ice preventer
WARNING! Burning and re hazards due to hot surfaces.
Do not operate the appliance outside of the water.
Prior to removal, allow the appliance to cool down in the water for at least 30 minutes.
Install the ice preventer before your pond is frozen. If a layer of ice has formed already, do not break
up that layer of ice. That may not only frighten the sh but even kill them. Carefully thaw an opening
with hot water.
Install the ice preventer at the deepest part of your pond.
1. Place the ice preventer in your garden pond.
2. Insert the mains plug in the mains socket.
Attention: The ice preventer is operating immediately!
Switching o the ice preventer
1. Remove the mains plug from the mains socket.
Thermal circuit breaker
The heater is equipped with a thermal circuit breaker as protection against overheating and any associated re
hazards. In the event of the heater being accidentally operated outside the water, it will be switched o. After
diconnecting from the electrical supply, the heater will switch back on automatically after 60 minutes.

6. Maintenance
Attention! Electrocution!
Before all maintenance work, remove the mains plug.
Caution! Material damage.
Do not use hard objects or aggressive cleaning agents for cleaning.
The following sections describe maintenance work necessary for optimum and fault-free operation.
Regular maintenance prolongs the service life and assures functionality of the appliance over a long
period.
Cleaning
1. Disconnect the ice preventer from the power supply.
2. Allow the appliance to cool down in the water for at least 30 minutes.
3. Take the appliance out of the pond.
4. Clean the appliance with a soft brush under running water.
7. Clearing faults
