Quick Start and Troubleshoong Guide
Must Read Before First Flight!
The Ares Advantage Exera 130 CX is a rst of its kind RC helicopter with breakthrough Aegis AAT
(Altude Assist Technology). To operate your new Exera properly and maximize the use of the
technology, its imperave that you read and follow these direcons closely.
Getting Started
Pre Flight Checks
Slide tab forward to open
baery tray
Slide baery in label side down
and wires to the right
Tuck wires under clip and twist
wire 180 degrees to keep wires
snug with baery
Note: Install the AA baeries in the transmier and turn it on before
plugging in the ight baery.
Cauon: Only use the recommended ight baery for your Exera 130
The wire length on other baeries may be too long and interfere with the mechanics of the helicopter.
For inial ights, it’s recommended that you take o from a hard, smooth area-like a wood,
le, or cement oor.
Before your rst ight, make sure that you have plenty of space. Ideally, you should give your-
self at least a 20 x 20 area that is free from obstacles and has a ceiling of at least 9.
Before ying, check the red LED on the tail of the heli to make sure that the AAT technology
is engaged. If engaged, it will blink steadily on and o. If AAT is not engaged, the LED will stay
on. To engage AAT , simply unplug the heli baery and plug it back in.

Troubleshooting: Before visiting your local HobbyTown store for service
If you:
Have inial performance concerns in Mode 1 ight
If during your rst few ights, the helicopter struggles to take o or only rises slightly o the oor,
don’t be alarmed. It may take several ights for the motors to break in. During break-in this behav-
ior is normal for high performance motors like those in the Exera.
If aer 3 or 4 ights and re-charges of the baery, the ight performance sll feels “sluggish”, you
may need to calibrate the ight system to ne-tune peak motor performance. If thats the case
please refer to page 14 in the manual for instrucons on how to calibrate. Do not calibrate your
helicopter unl aer you have own at least 3-4 ights and the performance is sll sluggish, as this
may not provide the intended performance benet.
To help keep new pilots out of “trouble” during early ights, in Mode 1 ight the heli is designed
with throle limiters that allow a maximum altude of about 3 (1 meter).

Are ying o of carpet or so surfaces
Lose the connecon from your transmier to the helicopter
Because of the scale design, the Exera may want to
lean backwards when taking o from so surfaces
like carpet.
To prevent “leaning back” from happening, simply
install the black plasc landing gear extenders (in-
cluded in the accessory bag with the screwdriver) to
the back of the landing gear as shown in the photo.
If you have lost the connecon between the
transmier and receiver the LED on the tail of
the helicopter will show 2 short blinks fol-
lowed by a long pause.
Quickly plug a fully charged baery into the
4-in-1 control board following the baery wire
roung instrucons menoned previously.
While pressing in on the throle sck, turn on
the transmier. Once it begins to beep you can
release the throle sck.
The stock landing skids were designed to maintain
the scale appearance of the MD 500E.

Leave the helicopter sing sll for several seconds unl it inializes. Wait for the red LED on
the tail to go from fast blinking (binding in process) to a slow blink. Once the LED is blinking
slowly and the transmier stops beeping, you can move the right sck to make sure you have
control and the helicopter is bound, or “connected” to the transmier.
