SERVICING OF DOUBLE-INSULATED APPLIANCES
In a double-insulated appliance, two systems of insulation are pro-
vided instead of grounding. No grounding means is provided on
a double-insulated appliance, nor should a means for grounding
be added to the appliance. Servicing a double-insulated appli-
ance requires extreme care and knowledge of the system, and
should be done only by qualified service personnel.
Replacement parts for a double-insulated appliance must be iden-
tical to the parts they replace.
A double-insulated appliance is marked with the words “DOUBLE
INSULATION” or “DOUBLE INSULATED”.
ADDITIONAL SAFEGUARDS
Electrocution possible if used or dropped in tub.
Unplug after using.
Household use only.
Never use the appliance near water, and keep it away from
sinks, baths and other similar containers. The proximity of water
is hazardous, even if the appliance is switched off. Always
disconnect the plug from the electrical outlet after use.
6 US-EN SHAC 2100 A1
Connect the hairdryer only to a correctly installed electrical outlet
providing electrical current at the level detailed on the rating plate.
Under no circumstances may the hairdryer be submerged in
liquids, or liquids be permitted to enter the appliance housing.
Do not expose the appliance to humidity or use it outdoors.
If any liquid gets into the housing, unplug the appliance
immediately and have it repaired by a qualified technician.
Unplug the hairdryer from the power socket if defective operation
is apparent and before cleaning it.
To disconnect the appliance, pull only on the plug itself, not on
the power cable.
Do not wrap the power cable around the appliance and protect
the cable from being damaged.
Never touch the hairdryer, the power cable or the plug with
wet hands.
Disconnect the hairdryer from the power source immediately
after use. The appliance is completely free of electrical power
only when you unplug it.
You must not open or repair the housing of the hairdryer.
This is unsafe and invalidates the warranty.
Children must not play with the appliance.
NEVER put the hairdryer down or leave it unsupervised when it
is switched on.
Never place the hairdryer close to sources of heat and protect
the power cable against potential damage.
Do not cover the air intake grille while operating the appliance.
Clean it at regular intervals.
The hairdryer becomes hot when it is in use. Hold it only by the
grip when it is hot.

Important Cord Information
This appliance has a polarized plug. To reduce the risk of elec-
tric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only
one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the
plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician.
Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
A short power-supply cord (or detachable power-supply cord)
should be used to reduce the risk resulting from becoming
entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
Longer detachable power-supply cords or extensions cords are
available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
If a longer detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used:
1) The marked electrical rating of the cord set or extension cord
should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance;
2) The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the
countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or
tripped over unintentionally; and
3) If the appliance is of the grounded type, the cord set or extension
cord should be a grounding-type-3-wire cord.

Operation
Connect to power source
This appliance is fitted with a safety connector 3, which contains
a fault current protection switch (RCCB). If the appliance malfunc-
tions (by coming into contact with water, for example), the RCCB
changes to "off" and the hairdryer will no longer have power.
If the fault current protection switch in the
safety connector 3 is no longer functioning, discontinue use.
Unplug the safety connector 3 and contact the Customer Service
department.
We recommend testing the safety connector 3 before each use
to make sure it is functioning perfectly:
1) Plug the safety connector 3 into an electrical outlet. Ensure
that the power being supplied from the electrical outlet
matches the voltage specified on the label.
2) Now press the "Test" button -. The "Reset" button will
spring out a little more from the 3 safety connector.
Now the hairdryer cannot be turned on again. The fault
current protection switch is working.
3) Press the "Reset" button - so that it snaps into place.
You can now use the hairdryer.

SHAC 2100 A1
Heating and blower levels
1) Turn the hairdryer on with the function switch .
The hairdryer is fitted with two function switches. You can use
these to separately select the strength of the air flow (blower
level switch ) and the heat level (heat level switch ):
Blower levels
OFF hairdryer is switched off
reduced airflow
increased airflow
Heat levels
reduced heat level
medium heat level
high heat level
2) Once you have finished using it, switch the appliance off by
switching the blower level switch to "OFF."
3) Then unplug the safety connector 3 from the electrical outlet.
Cold air level
With the cold air button G you can produce a cooler air flow
with any combination of blower and heat levels (except when
blower level is "OFF").
If you wish to create a cold air stream, press and hold the cooling
level button G.
When you no longer need the cold air stream, release the cooling
level button G.
12 US-EN SHAC 2100 A1
Ionization function
With the ionic switch , you can switch to the ionization function
with any combination of blower and heat levels.
Ionic switch in position " ": Ionization function is turned
on. The indicator lamp illuminates.
Ionic switch in position " ": Ionization function is turned
off.
When drying the hair using a hairdryer, the hair takes on a static
charge and starts to "fly."
The ionization function ensures that this charging of the hair is
neutralized and cancelled. The hair becomes soft, supple, shiny
and easier to style.
Please note, however, that the ionization function will only work
optimally if the attachments (finger diffuser /styling jet ) are
removed, since the attachments will interfere with the application
of the ions to the hair. Therefore, use the hairdryer without attach-
ments for the maximum ionization effect.
Drying and styling hair
To quickly dry hair, we recommend first of all using a high
blower and heater setting for a short period. Also, set the ionic
switch to " ." After drying the hair, switch to a lower
blower and heat level to shape the hairstyle.
US-EN 13
SHAC 2100 A1
With the supplied styling jet , you can apply a directed
airflow to shape and style your hair. Start by removing the
finger diffuser with a downwards snapping motion. Fit the
styling jet by pushing it with light pressure onto the hairdryer
so that it snaps into place and sits evenly on the hairdryer. If
you no longer require the styling jet , wait until the appliance
has cooled down and pull it off with a downwards snapping
motion:
If you wish to dry your hair gently, or create a so-called "air-
dried permanent wave," then use the diffusor attachment .
Start by removing the styling jet with a downwards snap-
ping motion.
Fit the styling jet by pushing it with light pressure onto the
hairdryer so that it snaps into place and sits evenly on the hair-
dryer. If you no longer require the styling jet , wait until the
appliance has cooled down and pull it off with a downwards
snapping motion:
Before you comb your hair out, allow it to cool so that the
shaping and styling can retain its form.
14 US-EN SHAC 2100 A1
You can use the cold air button G to cool your hair down.

the electrical outlet before cleaning the appliance.

US-EN 15

store it.

16 US-EN SHAC 2100 A1

an overheating protector!
If the appliance still does not function, consult the service body
detailed under "Service."
