WiFi Signal Strength
The VX 680 supports WPA-PSK (aka WPA-Personal) and
WPA2-PSK (aka WPA-Personal2) authentication formats
and both AES and TKIP encryption. WPA2-PSK and AES
encryption are recommended however these depend on
your WiFi router and network capabilities.
There are certain environmental factors such as concrete walls and
other devices that use the same frequency that can have an impact
on the signal quality of the WiFi network. If possible, place your
wireless access point in the center of the area you wish to cover. Also,
consider mounting WiFi access points high on a wall or ceiling, avoid-
ing any obstructions that can impede WiFi signals. For best WiFi
performance, follow the manufacturer’s recommendations regarding
location and positioning.
Where to place the terminal
Place the terminal on a desk or tabletop. Avoid areas with direct
sunlight, objects that radiate heat, excessive dust and other electri-
cal devices that can cause excessive voltage.

There are certain environmental factors that can impact the
quality and strength of wireless signals such as concrete
walls and other devices that use the same frequency.
In this example, the 3 blue bars
indicate a signal quality in the 50-75%
range and the blue rings around the
top of the tower indicate the device is
communicating.
You can improve your wireless signal by placing the
router in the centre of the area you wish to cover and by
removing large furniture and shelving from the immedi-
ate area.

What you need to connect
The VX 680 Bluetooth base can pair up to 8
individual VX 680 terminals, however only
one transaction can be processed at a time.
When 4 or more VX 680 terminals are in use,
it is recommended that additional Bluetooth
bases be added and postioned in a manner to
maximize radio coverage.
To establish a Bluetooth connection between the VX 680
terminal in Bluetooth mode and the Bluetooth base, you
need to complete the 3 steps listed below.
Place the VX 680 Bluetooth base in a central location in your
business - on top of a desk or countertop - to allow the best
radio coverage. Avoid placing the VX 680 base in a back
room or underneath counters as environmental factors such
as concrete walls, crowds and furniture can limit the range.
Also, avoid areas with direct sunlight, objects that radiate
head, excessive dust and placing the base beside other
electrical devices.
